My visit here was because I got a Too Good To Go order. It's an app. But what I got was the shrimp basket and in it contained crinkle cut fries. The shrimp was cook right and the fries were cook just right. I also ordered the French Dip sandwich which was served between a buttery Texas Toast. I thought this was very good. It came with the right ratio of roast beef too. I think maybe some cheese would make this sandwich pop. I think this place may be worth another visit. read more

Went to country waffles for fathers day. I recommend to my son who was visiting. I told him how great this place was 2 weeks ago. I ordered a take out of waffles and chicken. We ordered 3 to go chicken and waffles. I chose the chicken wings. We received chicken wing parts. We ordered 3 plates. So to complete 2 plates they took the chicken wings and broke them in half. One plate got the chicken drum the other got the wings. Chicken parts and waffles best way to describe it. Two weeks ago when I ordered the waffles they tasted nice and sweet. Fathers day the food tasted like the cook was passed off. The chicken parts was over cooked and the waffles had no sweet taste. This is a typical Fresno establishment. New owners since our last visit 3 years ago or so. Got a slight whiff of curry when we entered. Five Stars for service. We were greeted warmly. Everyone was friendly, courteous, and made us feel welcomed. The GenZ employees started showing up as we were checking out. We were not overly pleased with some elements of the food. Not much flavor to the white gravy and the biscuit was like biscuit cake. Made in a cake pan no doubt. There was a strong taste of grill oil on the hash browns and the English muffin portion of our eggs Benedict. Instead of toasting it, the inner surface (the side with the nooks and crannies) was greasy and tasted like it was cooked at the HoHo Cafe. We like the HoHo, but for the price we had to pay for this breakfast, we don't think we'll be back to Country Waffles. We do wish these people the best. read more

I haven't been here in several years, I used to eat lunch here when I worked nearby. I waited at the hostess counter for a few minutes before anyone even realized I was standing there. The decor is vintage, same as it looked when I used to eat here. As soon as they saw me waiting, I was seated right away and my drink order was taken. Green tea, please! Yay, I was even given my own teapot so I didn't have to ask for more hot water. I was happy to see a "senior" section on the menu. Lol. Saves a couple dollars! They serve both breakfast and lunch items. I decided on the senior ham and cheese omelette, fruit and rye toast. I asked for a spoonful of gravy, just to try it. I am very partial to the B&G at The Train Depot, where I usually have breakfast. My food came out rocket fast! My omelette was cooked perfectly, not a speck of browned egg. My fruit cup was mostly apples and grapes...everything was very fresh. Two big slices of rye toast, with lots of melted butter. I was given a small bowl of gravy. While it wasn't very warm, it was nice and white, not greasy. It was very flavorful and nicely seasoned. I asked if they had any house salsa and I was brought a small container. It was bomb with just the right kick! My server was super nice and checked in with me while I was eating. A very nice breakfast experience, indeed! read more

Service/ Cleanliness: 7/10 As soon as you enter Country Waffles you are immediately transported to your 80 year old grandparents home. And your grandparents have not updated their home decor since the time they moved in. Staff are welcoming and food is promptly delivered to your table from the time you order. Their menu is simple and not overwhelming. The restaurant looks decently clean and no major issues are visible. The Border Scrambles: 4/10 The scramble eggs I ordered did not only have a insensitive name. But the whole dish lack any type of seasoning. The eggs, vegetables and potatoes were severely under seasoned. The ingredients on the dish did not compliment each other due to everything on the dish lacking seasoning. The waiter did offer some salsa verde, which also lack any salt. The salsa was water with blended Chiles and vegetables and no salt. Half Waffle: 5/10 The half waffle was nothing special and lack the buttery, sugary and vanilla flavors that make a good waffle. The frozen waffles you get at Target are more satisfying. Final Thoughts: 5/10 Country Waffles is an outdated restaurant that does not bring anything special to your breakfast choices. The food lacks any creativity and most importantly flavor. The prices per dish are fair for the amount and quality of food you get. You are better off going to Denny's or IHOP as this place fails to make you want to go back. read more

Sad to say that this use to be the go to family breakfast spot.. but looks like they got new management and the food changed with it. Half the servings for double the price.. the place would always have a wait time especially on the weekends and now it's empty and for a reason. You can feel the shift in the entire building. NO they weren't in any way rude to me but they weren't upbeat when it came to service. It was more of like them just doing their job and that's it. I've gone to all the country waffles in Fresno and none of them compare to this location. I've been coming to this one on Shaw for the past 14 years. Ever since I found this place, it has been our family's go to spot for breakfast. When you enter the restaurant it give a warm and welcoming vibe. The ladies in front get your info down quickly and the wait isn't long at all during the weekday. However expect to wait around 25-30 minutes on the weekend. But it's not too long of a wait and it's well worth it! Their eggs Benedict is so delicious and the hollandaise sauce is tasty. The eggs is always poached to perfection. My favorite of all time is the blueberry waffle. Every time we have breakfast here we always order it. It's a big portion so we share it. The service is amazing and is primarily the reason we always come back. Their server Shay is very attentive and friendly. So if you are an early trekker like me, it's a good place to stop and rest. They have a decent menu and it covers breakfast and lunch. This time around, got an apple, bacon, cheddar waffle and made it a combo, two eggs and two pieces of bacon. Service was fast and my food came right away. The waffle came with that thick apple pie filling. But not over the entire thing, which I like. Just wish the filling was warm. It came with a dollop of real whipcream (not from the can). It was not overly crunch and soft texture. Eggs and bacon standard.
