I have been to the locations in Olathe several times, I was greeted right away and sat quickly. Staff was friendly and offered suggestions of menu items. I was checked on throughout the meal to make sure the food was good and that I didn't need anything. I have ordered the Strawberry lemonade and a burger, I had no issues or complaints about either one.

My wife and I were in the area and enjoy a good BBD meal so we stopped in for an early dinner. The hostess sat us right away. We waited a few minutes waiting for our server during a slow afternoon. Once our server took our drink and food order the service was top notch. We talked about few menu items. The food was good. She was right there with drink refills. She was very nice and friendly. Then it came time to pay the bill, and get the passport stamp. Paying the bill was no problem. There aren't any other BBD locations close so no one knew about the passport stamp other than the manager. The cashier had to ask and server and then the manager about the passport stamp. Why train the staff about the stamp if there aren't a lot of other locations close by. I got the easy going vibe.

This was our first breakfast visit. We really enjoyed our food. The service was top notch and the overall look of the diner was inviting and relaxing. I got the California Omelette and it was fantastic. My drink was the mocha iced tea. Also VERY tasty. My wife got ham and cheese omelette and unsweetened tea. She loved her meal as well. This diner will be our new "go to" place for a great breakfast!

Great Diner, delicious grits, and fantastic service. Prices are fair and portions are huge. I got the chicken avocado club, and it was real chicken that didn't taste like the typical processed crap. The burger was excellent and cooked to order. We live around the corner, so we'll definitely be back.

Needed something off I-70 to break up a long road trip. Picked Black Bear because it was right there. Cozy, clean and kid-friendly. The taco salad and club sandwich were both excellent. Kids loved their burgers and fries. Service was friendly and attentive. Pleasant lunch!

This blob of slob is the mashed potatoes /white gravy. Looks toxic but it's descent.

Not just Mid but Very mid . I mean there's bear statues everywhere. What do you expect? Makes you feel like you're eating in a diner from vacation with Chevy Chase. Definitely not recommendable.

I've been to Black Bear Diner plenty of times and every time has been a good experience! On Friday I decided to go for the all you can eat fish fry. It was so good and the fish tasted super fresh and fried right before it got put on the plate. It really is a great deal especially for a big appetite because they give you a large amount of food.

We were seated right away as a party of 8, which was great for a larger group. Unfortunately, the experience this time was really slow when it came to food service. Our food took about 45 minutes to arrive, and we noticed smaller tables that were seated after us received their meals, ate, and left before we even got ours. Our server also walked past our table several times without giving any updates, which was frustrating while waiting. We typically go to the Liberty location because we've had better experiences there. This visit just wasn't the best, but we do like the overall vibe of the restaurant and hope service improves at this location.

The food was good, but the fries had been under the warmer for much longer than it should have and felt soggy and lifeless. I would like to try the food again at a corner cafe with good service (this was my first time eating at corner cafe) The inside was very similar to most other brunch spots with a bit of a country theme. The atmosphere felt off with all the customers crammed in one section of the restaurant with the rest of the restaurant left vacant with the lights off.

Transitioning straight from the blistering sun into the dim foyer is a hazard--if you pay attention like a distracted squirrel, you will stumble downward toward your destination. Proceed with caution. The Defense Steps In: Once you survive the descent, the Defense presents a compelling case. The interior is sleek, mercifully air-conditioned, and remarkably clean despite the moody lighting. Our party was seated almost immediately, and our server was a delight. Exhibit A: The Rum Root Beer Float The Defense recommended this beverage, and while it tasted fantastic, the Prosecution requests exploratory evidence as to whether any actual rum was present. Multiple eyewitnesses at the table cross-examined their own floats and reached the exact same conclusion: zero detectable alcohol. Exhibit B: The Club Sandwich with Fries This main course will win over any jury. Perfectly toasted bread points loaded with roast beef, ham bacon, and a bacon jam that delivers a total flavor bomb. Absolute slam-dunk. Final Verdict: Aside from one co-counsel physically banging their head during the proceedings, the court dismisses all charges. I render my final ruling: a great place with solid food. Case closed!

(Review from 8/8/2019: Transferred from closed secondary account.)…read more *This place is a lovely, unique restaurant and bar. I believe they are privately owned and operated. They offer daily specials, weekly trivia contests, and a live music. Entertainers generally play live music several nights a week. Sinclairs host mostly acoustic performers, mainly on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Most of the entertainers feature guitar playing solo artists in the bar area. As for the food... it's all pretty tasty. Served in an upscale fashion. And worth mentioning is THE ABSOLUTE BEST MEATLOAF I have ever eaten outside of my own kitchen; and yes, possibly even better than my own... which speaks volumes because I'm generally an excellent cook and extremely particular diner. (Not bragging - just emphasizing that my standards are high). This meatloaf is hearty, rich, and moist, with a firm meaty texture (Not over done with fillers). It's cut generously and served over freshly mashed potatoes topped with a complex & flavorful sauce I'd liken to a rich brown gravy with a hint of herbs & possibly a tad bit of steak sauce for good measure... Its the star. I just wished they served this on their daily menu! Speaking of... their entire menu is thoughtfully made, and the chef deserves major kudos for their talents in the kitchen. I will go with friends in tow to enjoy a night off in the kitchen, to enjoy some of the best meals our city has to offer. Looking for something do? Sports Watch Parties are a good time: Sinclair's serve as the neighborhood hub when it comes to watching our very own Kansas City Chiefs play. They will also host other major local or national sporting events. If sports aren't your thing, try your hand at trivia night on Mondays. You'll be glad you didn't stay home!

The restaurant itself is super cute, fun, and has a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, the ice cream wasn't for me. It was overloaded with toppings to the point that I could barely taste the ice cream itself. I love a good balance between the ice cream and the mix-ins, and this just felt like there was way too much going on. The toppings completely overpowered the flavor of the ice cream. We decided to give Johnny Ray's another shot and came back to try the food. Sadly, I wasn't impressed. For the price, I honestly felt like I could have made a better meal at home. Nothing stood out, and it just wasn't worth the money in my opinion. I really wanted to like this place because it's such a fun, inviting spot, but after giving it two separate chances, we've decided we won't be returning for either the food or the desserts. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I also believe in giving an honest account of my experience.

In my opinion, $22 for an Easter brunch buffet should mean hot food that won't run out. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Our party of 10 arrived at 11:00am and all of the food in the buffet was cold. Even when they'd bring more of a certain item to replace on the buffet line, it wasn't warm. The only item that was hot was the prime rib at the carving station. Being pregnant, I felt extremely uncomfortable eating cold buffet food due to the increased risk of food poisoning, so I wasn't able to enjoy much beyond the room temperature biscuits and the last scrapings of the white gravy along with some green beans that were warmish. Defintely not worth the $22 a person. They also ran out of carrot cake on Easter of all holidays, which was a disappointment. We probably won't be back for a buffet at Sandy's, which is a shame because our family has eaten their Mother's Day buffet several times and it had been fine (not stellar, but fine). Also, just a personal opinion, but the constant use of bad AI pictures on their Facebook is so cringey. The Boomers might like it, but the younger crowd sees this sort of stuff and thinks "yikes." We'd rather see real pictures of your real food, not a cartoon depiction.
