I've been here before, probably haven't been at least 2 years. The restaurant has been advertising the $10.99 black bear special especially the cinnamon roll French toast. It took awhile for me to be acknowledged and seated, it was 11am on a Monday so not much staff. My waitress was awesome. The restaurant was fairly clean. I ordered the cinnamon roll french toast. It was disappointing to find out that was an up charge for $3.99. I wanted sausage patties, but that was another up-charge of $1.99 or $2.99. I got links instead and they were good. The french toast was really good as well as the scrambled eggs. I'm glad I got what I came for, just disappointed in all the surprise up-charges. read more

The host was ready to greet us as soon as we arrived. He was very friendly, the way the light from the door came through I thought he looked like an angel. I ordered a side of macaroni and cheese with a cornbread muffin, my husband had the chicken pot pie. Our meal was the appropriate size and temperature. They weren't too busy, it was a Thursday evening, so we got in and out really fast. This is the typical Black Bear Diner, lots of bears everywhere! They have a gift area at the front also. "Bear" with me as I write this review live. They were in the midst of holiday decorating when we arrived mid-afternoon but that did not get in the way of a pleasant and efficient welcome. Our tour guide ensured we found our table easily and were on our way to a fantastic meal. Christmas carols played on the speakers but not at an annoying level. I even heard some renditions of favorite carols sung by strange voices. Kind of nice considering most of the time it's the same twenty songs regurgitated. Our server was quick to the table for a greeting and returned just as quick with our drink order. Food came out fast and hot. They have a great deal for 2 eggs, 2 bacon or sausage, and 2 pancakes for $9.99. We ordered up some breakfast potatoes to share and it was perfect. If you've never had their pancakes, they're really amazing. Much better than IHOP and the ambiance here is better as well. Five of five on this visit as was expected. read more

My husband and I dined at Black Bear Diner at the Memorial Road location. I ordered the Griz breakfast, and he had the roasted turkey with mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, and green beans. Delicious food! My order also came with two pancakes, bacon, and sausage. A lot of food! It was a great spot, and I can't wait to bring our grandchildren to the MidWest City location. Placed an online order to pick up and 1 minute later I realized it's the wrong location. Called the restaurant and When the guy picked up I told him what happened and he said to cancel it on the app I ordered it on. I told him the reason I called was to tell them not to make it. He then hung up on me. When I canceled it online it said the restaurant would not issue a refund because they stated making it... really??? After 1 minute you started making it.... Nope. Well, first off let me just say, the food is good here. Any meal you have doesn't disappoint. Really love the bread pudding and cinnamon roll French toast. My favorites. However, I've noticed that the customer service, which isn't terrible, is not the same. No smiles, no friendly or community interaction. Again, Not saying anyone was bad or mean or anything. It's just different. To be fair it's not just here. But in a tipping culture society, I wish workers would be more cheerful and friendly. Like in the old days I guess. With the prices going up, eating out is just less enjoyable and this makes it more so. Even if the food is good, it's just not fun to eat out anymore. read more

Busy restaurant means good food ahead! We were seated as a large party following two other large parties, so we waited for our food a little bit. Just received the order I placed at 9:39. It's an hour later. When I called the restaurant said my order was on the way at 9:45. It was not. I called to ask for condiments. None were included. I ordered corned beef hash, eggs over easy, grits. Everything is cold. The corned beef smells rancid. No butter or jelly for the biscuit that looks like it would be great if it was warm. I'm traveling. If I request utilities why not assume I need basic condiments? I won't be able to eat any of the food so an hour later I STILL need to order breakfast from somewhere else. read more

I can attest that the waffles are delicious, very sweet and fluffy. The amount of food for the money is very good and the quality is good, too. I was staying at a near by hotel and ordered a club sandwich for takeout. This was the worst club sandwich I have ever had. I should have walked back over and returned it. I can't even explain how bad it was but it was bad. How do you screw up a club sandwich. The French fries were so cold and under cooked that they were totally inedible. We were in Oklahoma City for an audition (our daughter) and we were unfamiliar with good restaurants. A local recommended Black Bear so we decided to check it out. We love love love Black Bear - Midwest City! It is one of our favorite comfort food places to go! This past Thanksgiving was our first to hangout by ourselves. Family lives out of town, and we decided to just keep it low key. We had eaten Black Bear several times, but the experience I'd like to talk about is this particular meal, because before I was unaware they offered Holiday Meal service. They have three delicious, multi course meals to choose from - turkey, ham or prime rib. We chose one ham meal, and a cubs meals - since it had so much food, we didn't think we could finish two and boy were we glad! It started with salad, and ended with dessert. It came with everthing you could think of to include plasticware. The natural applewood smoked ham was topped with a honey dijon glaze, served with red skinned mashed potatoes with gravy, cornbread stuffing, Italian green beans, choice of soup or salad, cornbread muffin, and a slice of pumpkin pie - pure perfection. They also offer dine in options, for the holiday, and pre order options, if you just don't want to cook for the fam! Great place for a simple meal...although they have a large menu. All day breakfast as well. I had the three egg meat lover omelette (hold the ham), hash browns, biscuits and gravy! Food was prepared really good and had a great taste. I was not disappointed with my choice from the menu. When I am back in Oklahoma City I will definitely be back here. Just one last quick observation store managers...the restaurant is Black Bear Diner, however, you literally have 3/4 of the pictures hanging on the wall as brown bear!!! I can only speak on breakfast. HUGE portions! I always order scrambled eggs with cheese and onion. Twice the cook has forgotten the cheese and onion and immediately sent out another order without me saying a word. Servers are always attentive and sweet with out being overbearing. We just so happened to get a room next door to this delicious restaurant while my daughter did her OU orientation. The photos do the food no justice. To begin the waiter was the best we have had in a LONG time. He was very attentive and funny. Now onto the food... we had the pot roast, pot pie, steak, pasta, and Parmesan chicken and each plate was absolutely delicious. If you like hot sauce try their sauces they are all delicious! For desert I had their cherry cobbler and again it was devine! Their menus, napkins, cups, and overall decor were too cute! On your way out be sure to purchase one of their adorable bears! Newish to the area. Wanted to try some place different. There are some cute cottage touches in the decor. They offer a military and first responder discount. We were seated after a short wait. Tables piled high with dirty dishes, trash on the carpeted dining area floor. Wait staff was friendly but slow. Food took more than 30 minutes. I saw my sandwich sitting in the window for probably 10 of those minutes. Kids enjoyed their food. Cubby pancakes and a mini combo type meal. Husband ordered pot roast. It was dry- nearly like jerky. Brown gravy on top was a lifesaver. Sides were mashed potatoes (they were flavorful), sliced carrots were very under cooked, the star of the dish was the side of green beans (they were just like my grandmas!) I ordered chicken club sandwich on sourdough. That didn't happen. It was just plain old white bread, toasted. The slaw was great! Waitress seemed relieved when we were done. No offer to up sell a pie or dessert- she missed that opportunity. Perhaps she had a huge section she needed to cover bc she was impossible to find. Prob won't return. Overall disappointed. IF we do decide to give it another go, we'll just get a take out pie. read more
