It's been several years since I've dined at this restaurant. Now that we moved to the other side of town we just don't make it back here very often. This is comfort food the way you want it to be! My wife had been wanting to eat catfish for the past few weeks but just couldn't decide where to get it from. The she mentioned Boomerang and I thought why not we've not been there since 2019; I have an app that keeps track of the restaurants I visit. A 50's/60's style diner serving up food you love. Usually we come here for breakfast but today it was for dinner. First time I've had their Chicken Fried Steak and it was worthy. A much thinner style that what I'm used to but it was worth the try & it turned out to be very good. Couldn't decide on style of gravy so I got both! As a side I choose the coleslaw, I liked that it was served cold! Wasn't necessarily my favorite because I felt it has to much onion for my liking. Matthew the Assistant Manager gave us great tips and definitely recommended the AYCE Catfish. Not that my wife was going to eat that much catfish she only reordered once. I had to give it a try and as suggested by Matthew it was light & tasty! The first order comes out with 5 pieces of catfish followed by 3 pieces each time you decide you want more. The great thing about the meal is that itbwasn't overly heavy which meant . . . . we could share a dessert! There is only one option which is the fried pie and perfect for sharing! We got ours a la mode which is their vanilla bean! Definitely worth it! I love the fact that there were all sorts of memorabilia on the walls and this added to the overall feel for the diner. It may be a while before we get back here again but if you're looking for a change of pace look no further than right here! read more

Went there for dinner the day after thanks giving. Srevice was good, the food was average at best. My wife had the catfish I had the chili burger. Sure was expensive for middle of the road food the 2 dinners came to justbelow $50. I paid $3.79 for a side of tots. There were 16 tots in the basket. Wont be back any time soon. read more

Parking can be challenging as there are not too many spots but dining room is pretty spacious. Cute retro deco w Elvis. Tried the new item on the menu - wings but it was too salty. The wings were crispy but not too meaty. Burgers were good especially the bacons. They were crispy. read more

This was our first time eating here. We came on a Friday afternoon for lunch. We ordered the all you can eat catfish with mashed potatoes, a side salad, and hush puppies. It was ok, I felt like the frying oil maybe needed to be changed for the catfish. We also ordered a burger, chicken friend steak sandwich, breakfast sausage sandwich, and a kids corn dog. This new spot occupies the space of the old Johnnie's burger joint. It's easily accessible from Danforth and probably gets a lot of the high school crowd, right down the street. I loved Johnnie's and thought Boomarang would be a good enough replacement. We went through the drive thru.. there were no customers ahead of behind, so we took our time ordering. The menu didn't have all the items listed and priced so the employee was helpful and patient. Once we ordered we sat in drive thru for some time. Ordered chicken strip basket, Oreo shake and drink all for $15. Again we waited sometime for our food if we would have been behind our car I think I would have been upset with the long wait. Okay, so I finally tried Oklahoma's own Boom-A-Rang Diner. This is a nice new location in Edmond with all of the bells and whistles. It even has a classic car hop drive-in along the west side (minus the window trays). I'd read somewhere Boomarang serves a very good burger (and also a great patty melt). Not even knowing this new location was here, I quickly made a u-turn to double back. Diner Double was the burger I'd read about. It was even better than I expected. Classic in style with two smashed patties, perfectly griddled until beef dark and umami, dripping just a little grease so you know it's good -- flavor so buttery, juicy, and cheesy with triple slices of American cheese. Patties could have used more seasoning but nonetheless, still delicious. I had it made with everything including mayo, mustard and ketchup, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles. All ingredients were fresh, flavors layered just right, nothing overpowering, nothing too weak. Bun there to hold it all together and not get in the way. I was pleasantly surprised. It's a pretty big burger but not massive. For around $9 it really should come with fries by default. Prices are a little higher than I expected, but not a deal-breaker. Looks like they pay their young employees good wages..So as they expand the franchise menu prices go up, value goes down. It's a trade off, which I would understand for workers supporting families. But not so much for workers in high school, living in an area among the lowest cost of livings in the nation. These prices preclude a working-class family from visiting very often. I mean IHOP has a $5 meals menu now. While a similar meal here runs around $12. At that price-point some may skip Boomerang altogether, instead opting for a restaurant with a more modern or healthy menu. But I'm rambling on today. Okay, off my soap box. Car hops are friendly but trained to be a little overbearing in taking one's order and asking for tips. Better that than the opposite I suppose. They also have a drive thru. First time customer experience was very good. We used the drive in parking and the service was great and it didn't take very long to receive our food which was steaming hot and obviously just prepared to order. The bacon ranch cheeseburger was delicious and no bottled ranch dressing is served here. The chicken fried steak sandwich was insanely huge, barely fit in the box and made the Texas toast buns look tiny, by far the biggest steak sandwich I've ever had and I've had plenty. Fried mushrooms with ranch dressing were really good and an order of them is an entire box full, hot and still steaming when we got them. Like most places these days they're experiencing shortages of items, no root beer or onion rings but hopefully the supply chain will improve. read more

This is pretty straight diner fare and just what the doctor ordered when you are looking for just that thing. I got a breakfast sandwich that was quite good, but could have used a little more pop for flavor. The prices though are exceptionally fair giving the state of the dining out today. First off I have to say I love Boomarang...never a had problem till today! I ordered in the drive through and waited 15 minutes which I understand is not that long for a fresh burger. No one ever opened the window to greet or take my money until they handed me my food. Get home and my burger is burnt including the bun. I will give them another chance but this time just wasn't the best! read more

Called in order - Horrible cold food. I arrived just a few min early than told to pick up. The fries were chewy and cold. Not warm cold. Drove back around to ordering area, I was told I would have to come in the store to get order remade. I stood a good 5 minutes before manager serviced As my burger was getting colder I stood in the lobby just waiting for comets to be Made. Food is mediocre to be treated as if it was a 5 star. Great customer service! I had just left another local restaurant that seemed to take pride in their hour wait for takeout. I pulled up and immediately placed my order. We went on a Saturday morning . We were promptly greeted and found a roomy booth to sit at. The restaurant was clean and shiny. The decor is a 50's style and music themed. ( Elvis, etc). Our server was friendly and gave us time to look at the menu and decide what we wanted. I ordered the chicken fried steak sandwich and fries with a soft drink. My companion had the Club sandwich. We split an order of the 50/ 50s ( fried mushrooms and fried pickles). The Club sandwich is good, according to my companion. He doesn't say much about food as a rule. I really liked my sandwich, it was quite large and very good. No gristle and seasoned well. The 50/50 was good, I especially liked the pickles. The fries were cooked just enough, not burnt and not flimsy. Our drinks were good, and our server was attentive without hovering. We will definitely be back and recommend this restaurant. read more

We went to Boomerang to have lunch. What we got is the worst customer service I have EVER seen. I used to be a waiter. I cut all of them slack because I know what lunch rush is like. However, I can't make an excuse for what happened. Our waiter was at our table to take our order and deliver drinks. She never came back to the table after that. Took over an hour to get our food. Once we got it, I realized I was missing my toast. I asked another waiter about it and she said she would be right back with it. I had to go up to the counter another two times before I finally received it. The waiter threw it down on the table and walked away without saying anything. My toast was barely buttered and what butter was there was hastily, I'm assuming, only put the bottom of the toast. I was not given additional butter or jelly. I heard the table behind us ask about their food and she rudely replied that it would be a while. She shrugged her shoulders and said "Nothing I can do about it." As she started to walk away the customer was, sadly, trying to apologize. She continued walking but cut the customer off by saying "You're good." before she went behind the counter. Most of the time, every waiter in the restaurant was behind the counter. Once we finished, we had to go up and ask for our ticket as it was clear they weren't going to bring it to us. AVOID!! Multiple visits, multiple problems... whenever using in-car ordering, the servers outright ask for a tip. I've never had that happen at any restaurant, even at places where waitstaff does considerably more work and actual customer service. First time eating here. Loved the decor and 50s background music. Unfortunately, the chairs were very hard and uncomfortable. We were greeted upon entry and got seated. Our server came to the table very shortly afterwards and was quite personable. I had questions about allergies and cross-contamination in the fry basket and she was kind enough to pass that information along to ensure my fried item was done in a separate basket from the thing to which I am highly allergic. The food arrived relatively quickly, smelled great, and looked appetizing. I was impressed with the portion sizes. Things took a downturn when I turned my attention to the Chicken Fried Steak I had ordered. It was difficult to cut, even with the aid of a steak knife, and more importantly almost impossible to chew. I reported this to the server who checked on us (not our original server who was never seen again) and she said she would "talk to somebody". Nobody came back to the table after that. We had to flag down a different server to find someone to bring the check. The check was for the full amount. Even though I had not been able to eat the Chicken Fried Steak, no credit was given, so I can only assume the substitute server had not spoken with "somebody" or that the "somebody" didn't care that the food was not edible. When my husband stepped up to the register to pay the check he was asked "How was everything?" and after he told them about the inedible Chicken Fried Steak the response was "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that" and we were still charged full price. Needless to say, I won't be returning, not specifically because the Chicken Fried Steak was inedible but because this place obviously doesn't care about customer satisfaction. read more

I stopped in for my first time tonight. A very gracious waitress welcomed me as a new customer, explained the menu and helped me decide on the J J Burger Basket. The burger had grilled onions, bacon, jalapeno, cheese and along with the fries I ordered an iced tea. It was served quickly and WOW! It was one of the best hamburgers I have eaten in my life. And I'm 74 so I've eaten a lot of burgers in a lot of places. Then when checking out my total tab was only $10. It was then I learned they have 1/2 price hamburgers all day every Monday. And it was Monday. I'm coming back later this week to try the Hot Hamburger Plate with mashed potatoes and smothered in brown gravy! This place serves very good burgers and breakfast food. Unfortunately they are set up to do one thing above serving good food and that is to take your money. I've been here several times each time I ordered a cheeseburger basket when the waitress asked me today if I'd like fries with it, tater tots or onion rings I knew from past experience they charge extra it's not a basket, she could not explain to me why they call it a basket being there's no basket, so for almost $10 I got a cheeseburger and fries. they must train the wait people to respond to a burger basket cheeseburger basket etc. to not inform you there's almost a three dollar up charge for tater tots fries or onion rings.
