It is my first time at this location. Outside looks promising. Plenty of parking. Upon entering, Wow, spacious and it is not busy. Alex - our server welcomed us with a pleasing smile and seated us right away. She gave us time to look at the menus. I decided to have the Build Your Own Bear Breakfast. French toast, 2 eggs and 2 pieces of Bacon. It was okay. French toast was dry and there's not enough powdered sugar on top. Bacon wasn't the thick - sliced one. My scrambled eggs were cold too. My SO ordered the MEATLOAF with veggies and mashed potatoes. According to him he has tasted better. We expected a mix of vegetables but it was only broccoli - the menu was misleading. As everyone knows, food isn't cheap these days. So when we decide to go out or order takeout it is a big deal to spend $50+ on a meal. The bacon we received was unacceptable. I've never in my life seen bacon served like this nor when I've eaten at any black bear diners. We were really disappointed tonight. I suggested we come, and ended up just apologizing the whole way home. We had 2 orders of the chicken wraps and 2 orders of the Friday "all-you-can-eat" fish fry platters. The fish fry platters were soo disappointing for $19.99. It was Friday so supposed to be all you can eat, we got one single fish strip on the first dish, and a fish strip cut in half for any additional order . The platter in the picture had at least 2 fish strips, yes STRIPS, and we didn't even get the full two until we asked for more fish. I added the picture, literally one fish strip cut in half for our order of more. I'm sorry but for $20 and no hush puppies, we should at least gotten 2 full ones before having to ask for more. We sat with our dirty dishes and empty beverage cups most of the night and there were literally crumbs in my wine. Again, very disappointed. The guy who checked us out and sat us was very nice. I arrived at Palmdale black bear dinner at 11:15 Got seated at 11:45 . I was very excited to enjoy my birthday breakfast here I've been waiting all year with my family. I was told wait it was 20 to 30 minutes. Which was no problem. I understand very busy morning, but after conceded,, the waitress took our order after 25 minutes of waiting for her to take it . We are regular customers and are somewhat dismayed at the lack of servers each time we dine here. We are currently sitting at the Palmdale location at 9:15am. Breakfast is in full swing with approximately 15 booths filled. Are waitress told us she's the only one working today. Whether we are here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it's always understaffed, apparently on the floor and in the kitchen. Went in for lunch and I had such a wonderful experience thanks to my waitress, Naomi. From the moment I sat down, she was warm, welcoming, and attentive without ever being overbearing. She refilled my drink right on time and checking in just enough to make sure everything was perfect. Rosie whom I believe is the manager, made the whole dining experience so enjoyable. She was going around tables making sure everyone was happy with their food. The food was amazing, but their service is what truly stood out. My family and I came here for a birthday dinner last weekend. My first time ever eating at a black bear diner! I'll say the staff was super friendly and every single one of them greeted us as we were being taken to be seated. I had high hopes for the food and was starving and ready to eat! I ordered the tri tip sandwich with soup and sweet potato fries. The soup of the day ended up being tortilla soup. The soup itself was decent, but I wouldn't call it tortilla soup. It seemed more like a vegetable soup/chili, it had beans in it as well. I dipped my cornbread in it, pretty tasty cornbread! Now my tri tip sandwich on the other hand was okay, not too much flavor, I expected more from it. That's why I'm giving 4 stars, as the food was just basic, not really over the top, but not horrible. The sweet potato fries were good but more on the soggy side l, rather than crunchy. I also ordered the huckleberry lemonade, which was very tasty! The Palmdale Black Bear Diner has become our favorite breakfast place. My husband and I usually sit at the counter and Noemi has been our server the last two times. She and her team, led by Rosie, are impressive. We watch them hustle and work non-stop to get the orders to the table. First time I visited the pancakes were next level. I will post images of the first visit and today's visit. You can see the difference in the pancakes unless I didn't get the same type of pancakes, but I was really looking forward to what I had prior. Today they were 3 out of 10. I was a bit disappointed, the restaurant was busy so I don't know if that made a difference, But it's like they just made the pancakes real quick and had no personality at all. Besides that the experience was good. I wish the food was more consistent or at least their pancakes. The wait was very large around 1030am. Big thumbs down compared to the last experience I had. There was a wait for seating, so we sat at the bar for breakfast. First, you could smell something was wrong with the bathroom. Which is close by. 2nd, the service was really bad. Visited on December 24th. It was my first time eating here. The interior was nice, well maintained, lots of opened space, and a lot of souvenirs for sale as you walk in. The place wasn't packed at all, there was maybe 6 other small parties in the entire restaurant. Well, right of the bat: Server named Kat came off as rude as if she wasn't having a good day. Asked for two waters one with ice and one without. She brought both without, wife said hers was with ice. The server says " I'll just bring you some ice". Like really? Lady, be logical, if you're going BACK to get ice why not just get another cup with ice and fill it with water? It seemed as if she was the only server and also the cashier. That's a lot of work. No wonder she was in a pissed mood. Ordered two cheese burgers with fries and a grilled cheese with fries and mac n cheese. It took a while for the food to arrive despite the place being very slow. When the food did arrive, it wasn't great. My daughter did not like her grilled cheese, said the cheese tasted odd. I took a small bite of it and yeah, it tasted like Velveeta, it was just an off taste about it. My wife fries more than likely had be REFRIED because hers were darker than the fries I received, tasted burnt, tasted overly greasy, and hard. My fries also were a lighter shade than hers. My wife's burger was horrible, it was falling apart. The bun seemed old, not keeping it's shape. She resorted to eating it with a fork and knife. My burger was TOUGH and DRY. It was hard to bite and chew. It was VERY over cooked. My jaw was actually experiencing fatigue eating this tough ass burger. They gave me like 12 fries with it was well. I don't know WTF was wrong with their cook(s). The macaroni and cheese wasn't great. It was thick and bland. In fact, I think it was box mac and cheese. Wasn't worth the money. We waited for the server come back which took time. We were ready to go and we were VERY disappointed with the food and it's staff. We were even more disappointed because that was our first meal of the day as we were shopping around. I won't be back. If a restaurant can't cook a SIMPLE burger correctly you've lost my business. We had ordered the 4 piece fried chicken and we got a flat ass chicken steak. The hispanic lady was like oh I thought u wanted this plate. Like fuck off. I ordered the steak and eggs medium well and got a dry piece of meat that was bland. The eggs were bland. Nothing about this place is good. The server didn't even fix the bill for the inconvenience.
