Went in for lunch and I had such a wonderful experience thanks to my waitress, Naomi. From the moment I sat down, she was warm, welcoming, and attentive without ever being overbearing. She refilled my drink right on time and checking in just enough to make sure everything was perfect. Rosie whom I believe is the manager, made the whole dining experience so enjoyable. She was going around tables making sure everyone was happy with their food. The food was amazing, but their service is what truly stood out. Visited on December 24th. It was my first time eating here. The interior was nice, well maintained, lots of opened space, and a lot of souvenirs for sale as you walk in. The place wasn't packed at all, there was maybe 6 other small parties in the entire restaurant. Well, right of the bat: Server named Kat came off as rude as if she wasn't having a good day. Asked for two waters one with ice and one without. She brought both without, wife said hers was with ice. The server says " I'll just bring you some ice". Like really? Lady, be logical, if you're going BACK to get ice why not just get another cup with ice and fill it with water? It seemed as if she was the only server and also the cashier. That's a lot of work. No wonder she was in a pissed mood. Ordered two cheese burgers with fries and a grilled cheese with fries and mac n cheese. It took a while for the food to arrive despite the place being very slow. When the food did arrive, it wasn't great. My daughter did not like her grilled cheese, said the cheese tasted odd. I took a small bite of it and yeah, it tasted like Velveeta, it was just an off taste about it. My wife fries more than likely had be REFRIED because hers were darker than the fries I received, tasted burnt, tasted overly greasy, and hard. My fries also were a lighter shade than hers. My wife's burger was horrible, it was falling apart. The bun seemed old, not keeping it's shape. She resorted to eating it with a fork and knife. My burger was TOUGH and DRY. It was hard to bite and chew. It was VERY over cooked. My jaw was actually experiencing fatigue eating this tough ass burger. They gave me like 12 fries with it was well. I don't know WTF was wrong with their cook(s). The macaroni and cheese wasn't great. It was thick and bland. In fact, I think it was box mac and cheese. Wasn't worth the money. We waited for the server come back which took time. We were ready to go and we were VERY disappointed with the food and it's staff. We were even more disappointed because that was our first meal of the day as we were shopping around. I won't be back. If a restaurant can't cook a SIMPLE burger correctly you've lost my business. If a restaurant can't cook a burger, the other menu items are probably piss poor. read more

I ordered the three-piece thick cut French toast. It was not thick cut as you can see in the picture. It was regular bread then I asked my server how much is a side of bacon he said I'm not sure. Would you like them? I said yes but I wanna know how much it is. He never came back to tell me the next thing I knew I had bacon as you can see in that picture that is not worth $6.59. My family and I came here for a birthday dinner last weekend. My first time ever eating at a black bear diner! I'll say the staff was super friendly and every single one of them greeted us as we were being taken to be seated. I had high hopes for the food and was starving and ready to eat! I ordered the tri tip sandwich with soup and sweet potato fries. The soup of the day ended up being tortilla soup. The soup itself was decent, but I wouldn't call it tortilla soup. It seemed more like a vegetable soup/chili, it had beans in it as well. I dipped my cornbread in it, pretty tasty cornbread! Now my tri tip sandwich on the other hand was okay, not too much flavor, I expected more from it. That's why I'm giving 4 stars, as the food was just basic, not really over the top, but not horrible. The sweet potato fries were good but more on the soggy side l, rather than crunchy. I also ordered the huckleberry lemonade, which was very tasty! Now I don't know if I would ever come back to eat here again as my first choice, but if a friend wanted to go eat here, I'd definitely go back with them to eat. read more

The Palmdale Black Bear Diner has become our favorite breakfast place. My husband and I usually sit at the counter and Noemi has been our server the last two times. She and her team, led by Rosie, are impressive. We watch them hustle and work non-stop to get the orders to the table. There was a wait for seating, so we sat at the bar for breakfast. First, you could smell something was wrong with the bathroom. Which is close by. 2nd, the service was really bad. We had to stop different servers to get our order taken. 3rd, the food wasn't hot and we sat on front of the grill. Last, we could see a lot of dirt. We're done. We're not coming back. First time I visited the pancakes were next level. I will post images of the first visit and today's visit. You can see the difference in the pancakes unless I didn't get the same type of pancakes, but I was really looking forward to what I had prior. Today they were 3 out of 10. I was a bit disappointed, the restaurant was busy so I don't know if that made a difference, But it's like they just made the pancakes real quick and had no personality at all. Besides that the experience was good. I wish the food was more consistent or at least their pancakes. The wait was very large around 1030am. Big thumbs down compared to the last experience I had. People will have 10 amazing moments at a restaurant and only complain about the one bad experience they had. With that said the food is hot, tasty and big portions! My kids love this place and is always our go-to when it comes to family breakfast on the weekends. Get here early because it does get busy! Every time we come to this diner we are greeted right away, our server Emily always answers any questions we have and provides suggestions to us. The drinks and food always comes out quick, the food well presented and hot! My favorite dish from this place so far is their pot roast melt The restaurant is always clean and the rest of the staff is friendly as well, even the dishwasher will have a smile on their face. First, my husband ordered a BLT with no tomato, but when she brought it out you could tell there was tomato sitting on the rotting lettuce for a while because we could see the seeds, but then they took it off before it went out. Then, I ordered the meatloaf meal that was $20. She ended up giving me the small meatloaf meal, which is supposed to be $12. So I didn't get the extra sides and was still charged $20. We went here for Easter with relatives and it was a mess. I have been to many Black Bear Diners and this was the worst one ever. To start off it wasn't busy because it was a holiday so they have no excuse. Truly would never go to this location again. When we ordered the server didn't even know what items on the menu came with how many sides, salads etc. Didn't receive our cornbread with any of our entrees. Had to ask for multiple sides and salads sauces etc after our food was brought out. Orders of prime rib were asked to be medium rare were served well done. Turkey dinner was horrendous overcooked grilled dry. The worst was mine, I ordered meatloaf and it tasted of fish also the onion rings tasted like fish. I despise fish. Truly disgusting ruined the whole meal. We never received refills of any of our drinks either. 220 dollars wasted. Don't go here! read more

I was so excited to try the black bear diner. I heard it was like grandma's home cooking Sunday night dinners. So my husband and I went Saturday night at 6:30ish. Everything sounded so good it was hard to decide. There were two other people seated. The service was slow, when I asked about an item our server was unable to answer my question. OK so my husband ordered prime rib (price not shown in meun.) I decided to get Meatloaf mashed potatoes and gravy. I chose soup broccoli and cheese. My husband did salad. Soup was runny, not at all what you expected. (I didn't eat it). Salad was nice crisps nice color with carrots shredded etc. My plate comes and it looked like it had been sitting In a cafferteria window with a heat lamp for hours. My husband's prime rib looked like it was over cooked thin shoe leather. One bite of the meatloaf and it was not chewable. The prime rib tasted how it looked. The bill came for two dinners that weren't eaten, $75.00. That prime rib was $32.99. . I will never returned to this location again. I seriously thought we're going to get food poisoning.
