I love the ambience at the Black Bear Diner. It's so fun for kids and adults. I ordered two eggs over easy, hashbrowns, rye toast, and a short stack of blueberry pancakes. The egg were cooked perfectly, the hashbrowns were crisp, and I actually got real rye bread. The blueberry pancakes have real blueberries in them and were slightly crisp on the outside edges, but fluffy on the inside. Each pancake was large enough to feed an adult. The service was very good. My guests commented that their meals really missed the mark as well. Stopped here on the way to a concert, after visiting the Bear down in the Orem area and the positive experience, it seemed like a good option considering the venue food is not good. I ordered the Avocado Club and my partner ordered the Fish and Chips. The club was healthy and wealthy and wise to coin an old Franklin quote. It was fresh, came quick and the service was great. The other dish was unlimited in Fridays but there was no second order as it was enough to eat without more. Not oily and the cod was not overcooked. As far as the food goes, it was your typical black bear diner. Meaning that it was good for the low cost of the food. EXCEPT, the black berry pie. In all my years of going to black bear diner, I've never gotten a pie. I remedied this and was extremely disappointed. The whole thing was fairly tasteless. That said, the initial service was quite rough. (However our waitress Hailee was great)When we first walked in to get a table, I literally spent 15 mins standing there waiting for someone to come ask me how many and tell me the wait time. My family stopped by for dinner Saturday around 5:00, which was early enough that there was no wait. Ethan was our server and was energetic, friendly and responsive. I had the smaller portion of the pot roast, which was still more than I could eat by myself. My wife and son each had turkey club sandwiches and said they were good. We have eaten both breakfast and dinner at other black Bears and have been very satisfied. However, this one wasn't as great. The pancakes fell short. The prices are just too high: Waffle with bacon $12.98 Bowl of fruit $6.49 Denver omelette $12.99 (no roll, no potatoes, no price change) Waffle $3.99 Iced Tea $2.99 With tax and tip, $50.58 Zowie! That's too much for what we got. One waffle was undercook, and although our waitress offered a substitute waffle, or something else, we declined. Still, it remained on our bill. We can make an omelette and waffles or home. It's not a big expense to make up a fruit bowl. So, Black Bear, you've lost two "regulars." See you around, but not very often. read more

As we were being shown to our table, I noticed that I couldn't take more than two steps without stepping on dropped food, straw wrappers, etc. As we reached our table, there was so much garbage on the floor under it that I was shocked that the staff would seat someone in that kind of mess. I also noticed that there was a palm-size sticky spot on the table that hadn't been completely wiped off. Before we even sat down, I told my husband that I wanted to go somewhere else.
