My friends and I came to Black Bottle for a Friday dinner with a reservation beforehand. We were seated almost immediately, which was great. I ordered the Post Melon, which gets points for having a funny name. It's a simple watermelon mojito - a little on the strong side, but pretty good. For food, we ordered the following items: - Pulled Pork Tacos: 4/5, your basic tacos - Crab + Artichoke Bake: 5/5, amazing dip - Halloumi Cheese + Dates Pepper Saute: 5/5 - Prosciutto, Basil, Bechamel Flatbread: 5/5 - Slow Roasted Chicken: 0/5, never came out - Lemon Curd Ricotta Cake: 4/5, a fancy cheesecake Overall, we had a pretty great meal. The food came out as soon as it was ready, so we had stuff on the table almost the entire time we were there. However, there was a weird mixup where we ordered the slow-roasted chicken and waited over 30 minutes for it. The first time our waiter checked on it, he said that the kitchen had to prioritize a private party. The second time, he said that it had apparently come out but was... missing? Really strange, and it kept us there for a lot longer than necessary, but the rest of the meal was good. Went here for a team dinner. Food, service, location - everything was great! We got a bunch of stuff. My favorite were their flatbreads, fried chicken, some fish with cheese, dates and veggies. Drinks were really good too. I got the pisco sour. A lot of my colleagues got wine, old fashioned, mojito etc. everyone enjoyed their drinks. Desserts- loved their chocolate cake and ricotta cake. It's so bad I have to write something. My friend and I each started with a drink: I got the hotel nacional and he got the under pressure. The drink was flavored and decorated well but we both agreed the barista really cheaped out on the alcohol, which didn't make sense because they were $17 each. Then we ordered the lamb meatball meze platter, blistered shishito peppers and the 7 spice shrimp. The shishito peppers were okay. We both think the dipping sauce was more watery than it should be. The meatball platter was good with wonderful bread and amazing sumac hummus. I really liked the hummus and felt it was comparable to middle eastern store quality. The shrimp was so under seasoned that we thought was borderline laughable. Also my friend said the shrimp smelled so fishy that he wouldn't even try it. We each had 2 drinks and shared the 3 dishes. The tab came to $150+ (tips included) for the two of us. If you think it's not bad, wait til you tried "Some Random Bar" next door! I live right across the street and I swear never again. PS: the only redeeming factor was our server. Hmm, this experience was bleh. We were seated by the front door - but every time we asked them to close the door due to smokers outside it was opened back up by a staff member. We tried to change a menu item right after ordering, but then got both. And, our server disappeared halfway thru the meal so when we wanted order desert was had to grab someone else. Cozy ambience, great staff (Alex, you will go far with that personality!), deliciously complex food. The shishito peppers with ladolemono was an enticing start and a winning combination. The bacon-wrapped scallops were a little small and hard and didn't have that quintessential flavor, and a bed of kale was not a good match for their soft, subtle flavor, nor was the kale a pleasant texture to eat. However, the dessert knocked it out of the park: lemon ricotta cake with lavender. This was the first time I actually tasted the lavender, sprinkled generously on top rather than incorporated as an essence, and it was delightful paired with the lemon - and the ricotta was a lighter, more textured cheese (than cream cheese) making for a delicious cake altogether. read more

Solid 3.5-star option. Ambiance is lovely, cocktails are creative, and food is good, but lacks a bit and flavors are a little off, in my opinion. They have a whole gluten free section on their menu, which makes it really easy to choose. I loved the Under Pressure (cranberry margarita). Perfectly balanced, sour-leaning, and delicious. My partner got the Tree Sap (gin/pine cocktail) and it tasted like bubble gum - great option if you're into that!! The baby gems salad was quite odd. It said "crispy artichoke hearts," but they're actually just leaves, and are very stringy and fairly difficult to eat (I don't think they're actually supposed to be eaten?). The pulled pork tacos (3) were delicious. The cauliflower fritters left something to be desired. I really enjoyed the spice level, but it was a weird dish in general, and got soggy really quickly. And finally, the smoked wild boar ribs. I realllly wanted to like these, and my partner did, but I thought they were way overly smoked. It almost tasted like they added a smoky oil to them, in my opinion, which rendered them inedible for me. The Lemon Ricotta cheesecake is delicious and a fantastic portion. Hosted an event here for 35 people on a Sunday . Communication prior to the staff was easy and efficient and choosing a menu and setting was made easy for me. My guests enjoyed the venue, the staff, the drinks, and of course the food. The short ribs, and the lamb dish stood out above the other wonderful dishes, but overall everything was quite good. As many of you know, after reading my reviews, I have a "type" of restaurant I like and I rarely step outside that proverbial box. This one is exactly outside of my box...and I LOVED it! The Black Bottle serves dishes that are intended to be shared. They are served when ready "for the table". I found this experience to be fun and relaxing. I was excited to see which dish would arrive next. The service was exemplary. Jordan was our server and we had Stu behind the bar making some incredible cocktails. We had a group of 8 or 10 people and we ordered a little bit of everything. I am not an adventurous eater (my wife would emphasize that strongly). I tend to shy away from things I have never tried before. Each dish here looked and smelled so delicious, I just shelved that idea for the evening. I found the ambiance relaxing and comfortable. The menu had a great selection and so did the bar. I found this to be a really enjoyable experience and would HIGHLY recommend a visit when in Seattle. Amazing food, drink and service! We didn't make a reservation so sat at the bar and still had great service provided by the bartender. We ordered the pear caramelized onions and Gorgonzola flatbread, Halloumi cheese dates and peppers, mozzarella salami and peppers flatbread without the salami, and seven spice shrimp. All were really tasty but our favorite was definitely the pear flatbread and the shrimp. Would definitely recommend this place and plan to go back! read more

Entree was good, and service was poor. They didn't have what I wanted but what I ordered was good. The appetizer was poor, just not tasty and the service was slow and poor. Came here for dessert and drinks. I tried their bourbon glazed bread pudding and a smoked old fashion. The bread pudding was really good. Nice and spongy, and the bourbon glazed added a nice oaked, yet, sweet finish with every bite. The smoked old fashion surprised us as the bartender literally smoked the drink in front of us - quite an experience. I've had lots of old fashions and the one here is top 10 for me. As an out town visitor, my partner and I were not impressed, especially with the service. We came in during happy hour, in advance of a show at the Crocodile, and were looking forward to inexpensive drinks and an early dinner. We ordered-beer, wine and a cocktail for one of our party. Unbeknownst to any of us, none of these items 'qualified' for the happy hour price. We only learned this after we got the bill. The food we ordered was fine, but not exceptional. When it came time for the bill, the waiter actually crouched down next to the men, while they looked at the bill and signed the credit card slips! It felt intrusive and kind of manipulative-kind of like he wanted to make sure there was a good tip involved. The last thing to mention is that this same waiter spilled 1/3 of a glass of wine on one of our party and really drenched her. He gave her a towel but didn't comp her anything for her discomfort. Not only that, he didn't even replace the spilled wine until he was asked to do so, and that was probably 3 tablespoons if I'm being generous. Staff make all the difference in how the dining experience is perceived and you can see that most of our complaints were about the service and not the food. Unfortunate. read more

Excellent service, decadent food, nice relaxing ambiance. I had bookmarked this place awhile ago but hadn't made it in until Halloween. Thinking it would be a busy weeknight downtown we got here early for happy hour and were pleasantly surprised that the restaurant filled up, but was not overly loud or disruptive as the evening wore on. Our server was super friendly and attentive and it seemed as if my water glass was refilled as soon as it became empty. The restaurant is within easy walking distance to everything in Belltown/Pike Place/downtown so it was convenient to go from there to our next destination. I will definitely be back here in the future - everything I tasted was perfectly prepared and presented. The small plates worked well to share as tapas and were the right amount to fill us up. I recently hosted my second large group dinner at Black Bottle Gastropub with about 15 work colleagues. Each time I have been there, the service is top notch and the food is fantastic. I was so excited to try this place but I have to say that we were both disappointed. My friend and I ordered the boar ribs (since the reviews were so great), fried chicken, and the shrimp. The boar ribs were okay. It was kinda cold when it got to our table and it lacked a bit of flavor. My favorite was the shrimp. As for dessert, our waitor recommended the tart that takes 25 minutes to make. It arrived and we were a bit underwhelmed. The crust to fruit ratio was totally off. The crust underneath the fruit was so thin that it basically gets soaked from the juices thus becoming non-existant. It also came with some kind of milk...it really didn't add much to the dish. Reservations highly recommended. The place is LOUD - very loud.   Menu looks small in size but is extensive and caters to diary free, nut free, gluten free and vegetarian options. Food options aren't traditional but modern take on many pre-existing recipes.   Our server - Patrick was wonderful and guided us well. Recommended a range of dishes given our party size. Well appreciated so that we don't order too much.   We had the following: 1. Chola batura eggplant potato chickpeas - Loved the flavorful chickpeas but bhatura - small size wheat bread was disappointing 2. Broccoli blasted - Wonderful seasoning but little over burnt 3. Burrata arugula salad figs walnuts - Simply wonderful. Right balance of dressing and sweetness 4. Pear caramelized onions & gorgonzola - Awesome but little on sweeter side. could use some spices/flavors.   My friends gave verdict as below: 1. Oh man, this place was delicious. We hadn't planned on coming here... we were next door at The Random Bar and after dealing with all the BS they were throwing at us we decided to leave and find a new place to eat... and next door was this place! A blessing in disguise if you ask me! I was having trouble deciding between a few things that sounded delicious to me and I ended up going with the smoked chicken, sun dried cherries and fontina flatbread. Cherries on a flatbread? Who knew it would be so delicious! I also tasted the lemon curd ricotta cake with lavender crust that my friend ordered... yum! Everyone I was with loved their food. We stumbled upon this place when the other restaurant we were going to try was a little too crowded. Inside it has a really cute vibe. Mostly candlelit, good spacing between tables, and minimalist decor. Really liked it. They are a restaurant made for sharing so the idea is to order several plates of food for the table to share. I have several dietary restrictions so this can sometimes be tricky, however they have an amazing dietary restriction menu (you can find this on their website or ask your server for a copy). We were able to find several plates that all were both gluten + dairy free without having to ask a million questions or make a bunch of modifications. It was awesome!! We landed on the bacon lemon scallops + kale, pork + avocado tacos, blasted broccoli, and dry rub house-smoked wild boar ribs. All of it was incredible. My husband doesn't particularly like sea food and he said the scallops may have been his favorite, which speaks to how amazing they were. (Didn't get a picture of those bc they came out first and we ate them too quick!) We both had a hard time choosing which dishes we liked best because they all were amazing and complemented each other well. We are so glad we ended up trying it and will be back when we come back to Seattle!! read more

My friend wanted to try Black Bottle on a Saturday night so we came in around 6:30-7pm and didn't have to wait at all! We were seated quickly and took some time to look over the menu. We ordered the Seven Spicy Shrimp, which was well seasoned and fried shrimp heads, which I loved. We also tried the pear flatbread, which was delicious! And really filling too. In addition to those, we ordered the dry rub boar ribs (meat fell off the bone, but was too salty in my opinion) and the Dungeness crab dip, which was really good but I wish it came with more flatbread dippers. Overall, all of the food was delicious! Everything was around $11+ per dish, so if you're trying multiple things, it does add up quickly and not everything is worth that price point. Service was just okay. The waitress wasn't super friendly, so I do wish it was a bit better. I'll definitely be back to again though! read more

Came for a work event with my team of 7. The waitstaff was on top of our drink and food orders. They were very good at recommending stuff for our group and working with food allergies and sensitivities. We did everything as sharable plates. Ordered seconds of the oysters on a half shell because they were so good. This was my first time trying them (from the Midwest were we didn't grow up on fresh fish) and they were really good. Very easy to eat and the "sauce" it was served with was the perfect compliment. My co-worker was in love the the charred broccoli. I've never heard someone exclaim about their love of a broccoli dish so much!! If I could have passed on one thing that we ordered it would have been the 7 spice shrimp. We had 2 orders amongst the table and barely at one. Dessert was great too! Chocolate mouse was a big hit at our table. The lemon curd cheesecake was my favorite but I'm a sucker for lemon. We went for my bday party (back in July) with a large group of friends and the food and the service was on point - especially for a large group! :) I highly recommend it for bday parties - they have a back room area that accommodates big parties. Our server was a nice young man who was knowledgeable and prompt. We ordered the fried cauliflower, spicy shrimp and Asian chicken dippers. All were fantastic but the cauliflower won by a landslide. Boar ribs were ordered last minute to satisfy my Dads curiosity but sadly they were too salty.
