We've eaten a lot of burgers in the Fort and I believe Black Canyon ranks in the top five, easily. Cooked to order, fresh taste, minimal toppings, great bun. The thin fries were crispy. We also enjoyed the tex mex rolls and house salads - both tasty and well prepared. I highly recommend the blue cheese dressing. The Tilla Malbec was wonderful. Our waitress had a mango iced tea made up to order, too. We will add this restaurant to our rotation. The atmosphere was trendy but comfortable and the service was friendly. read more

The food was great as was the service! I had the sirloin and it was cooked to perfection. The loaded potato was really good with cheese, sour cream and bacon bits. Then the bananas foster was to die for! The best I have ever had! Almost wanted to lick the plate but restrained myself LOL! We came on New Years Day from out of town. We searched Yelp and saw this and the food-pics looked phenomenal. It was. The ribs fell off the bone and my 19 year old daughter ate the whole 1/2 rack . My family arrived at 6pm on 1/6/2016. We had a party of 7 that included a wheelchair. The restaurant was at best 1/4 seated. They refused to seat us together insisting that we needed to be seated separately. (We were there for a celebration.) we asked if they could seat us all together or join two tables. They acted insulted and refused. They then seated walk ins at tables next to each other. We were treated rudely and disrespected by the staff. We voiced our concerns and were told to return at another time, whenever that may have been. I have no idea what the food is like there since we were dismissed. For a service industry, they failed utterly. In fact, they failed at being decent human beings. read more

The food was pretty good! I got the steak medium rare but it was cooked at about a medium/medium well. It was good none the less. The service was also pretty slow even though it wasn't that busy. There's not much dividing the restaurant up, so get used to hearing full conversations from other tables and people talking over one another. read more

We arrived for a special occasion and even with a reservation we had to wait 15 minutes standing at the front door. We were then seated at a table very close to the bar (a bit noisy and not the intimate dining we had hoped for). We sat for over 5 minutes before our waiter arrived at which point we ordered drinks and they took another 10 minutes to arrive. After getting our drinks it was around 15 minutes before our waiter returned to take our food order. We then sat for around 30 minutes waiting for our salads we ordered which never came. When our entrees finally arrived our empty drink glasses had been sitting at the edge of our table for over 10 minutes. We were offered salads only when we asked what happened to them. At that point it was a little too late and the server was told to forget bringing them. We then had to point out our empty drink glasses and ask for more drinks. The filet mignon was not cooked properly and had to go back. The ribeye was also taken back and a new one prepared so both dinners could re-arrive at the same time. When the two entrees finally arrived the 2nd time the ribeye was slightly undercooked and tough....not just to chew ...but it really took some effort to cut it with the steak knife. At that point all we wanted to do was to eat our dinner, pay our bill and leave. We didn't want to waste one more minute sending tough, poorly cooked steaks back, no more having to ask and wait for empty drinks to be refilled, and most definitely weren't willing to take a chance on dessert. The manager apologised and comped the meal, but the entire experience was very subpar, extremely poor service, and certainly not what one expects at a higher end restaurant. I wouldn't recommend going there, and most certainly won't be returning. read more

When we arrived we had roughly a 15-20 minute wait. The decor was really nice inside - a blend of stone and rich shades of brown and black. We sat at the bar and had a drink while waiting for our table. I had a Prickly Cosmo and my boyfriend had an Upland Wheat Beer. The Prickly Cosmo was delicious - I had another with dinner. It was light, refreshing, and just a bit tart. The bartenders (Joe, John, Tina) were all very efficient and friendly. We were sat very quickly after receiving and closing the tab for our drink at the bar. We sat in a booth and Xavier was our server. He was knowledgable, pleasant, and efficient. We had the Corn Bread appetizer to start. It had a touch of cheddar and chipotle with a pat of butter on top. It was so good. Not too sweet and just savory enough. I had the Tri-Tip Sirloin dinner and my boyfriend had the Pork Chop dinner. Both, so tasty and cooked to our specifications. For desert, we had the Bananas Foster and had to resist licking the plate it was so tasty. Overall, for what they're offering - it's easily a five star experience. The servers were friendly and the service was efficient. The meals were very tasty and well cooked. I'll definitely go back! read more

Black Canyon was a nice change from the norm in this area. The restaurant has a cool menu with a wide variety of entrees to satisfy any person. They put a modern twist on classic dishes. The atmosphere is very relaxed and enjoyable with the dark lighting and modern decor. I tried the tex-mex egg roll appetizer and the prime rib sandwich with a side of fries. The appetizer was fine, but the sandwich was outstanding! It came with au jus and horseradish sauce. Very good and highly recommended! Others in my group tried the creole bbq shrimp, Thai steak salad, and the club sandwich. We also shared the beeramisu and key lime pie (delicious!). Our table was very pleased with the experience. The only complaint was that service was very slow, but we were in no hurry. read more

We have eaten here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. The best thing about Black Canyon is the atmosphere. It has a definite upscale feel but the prices are still reasonable. The burgers are really good. The Fish Tacos were heavily recommended but I have had better. The oysters are a good bet for an appetizer. This was a much needed addition to the north side as far as a finer dining spot. read more

Tonight my husband and daughter and I had dinner out in the patio. The atmosphere was really nice. I was disappointed in the Mahi Mahi fish tacos. They were packed full which we very messy and hardly any fish in them more slaw than any thing. My husband had the tri tips were very good and my daughter had the chicken tenders. read more

Wonderful atmosphere! We had a wonderful waitress. She was extremely nice and very attentive. The rest of the staff was very quick to clear plates and always very helpful with a smile. The menu was not huge but very simple and everything seemed well done. I ordered the prime rib and was as good as any but for the money could have been a little better at $28.00. However my wife's beef tips were excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I wish there was a spot for four a half stars. read more

The decor is stately and I love the outdoor stone fireplace and patio. Thank God Chef Garrett chose this spot for his new restaurant. He certainly lives up to my high expectations for this fine chef. The Tex-Mex Eggrolls are better then Chili's Southwestern Eggrolls. I had the Club Sandwich and it rocked, crispy bacon, fresh avocado put this sandwich over the top. The Skinny Fries, reminded me of Steak n Shake's thin fries, but Chef Garrett's taste fresher. I had a side of his homemade BBQ sauce to dip them in and I loved the flavor. We shared dessert, the cheesecake was creamy with an excellent buttery, nutty crust, but I loved his 'Beeramisu'. It simply blew away the tiramisu at every Italian joint that I've ever tried out of the water! This is modern American fare in classy, yet casual atmosphere. I can't wait to go back and try the B&B burger and the filet mignon! I have a new favorite restaurant in the Fort and it's Chef Garrett's Black Canyon! read more

I have been to black canyon a few times and LOVE it. The atmosphere is really great, perfect for a date night or a girls night out. Great wine list and good service. Do not go and miss out on the corn bread...so good I could just eat that and be happy. I also loved the buns for appetizers. I love the crab cakes and the tritip. So good. I really enjoy the atmosphere- it's casual yet trendy, and they offer enough variety in their menu so suit everyone, but not so many items that they can't do them well.
