My husband and I came for a late lunch after shopping in North Conway. The restaurant was very clean and appeared new, we were greeted promptly and very nicely by the hostess. We opted to sit at the bar, something we haven't been able to do since Covid. The beer selection was generous and I opted for a pumpkin head with the rim. We started with the clam chowder which I would highly recommend, it was nice and thick though more clams would've been nice. We stayed in town for our trip to Jericho Mountain Park. Wow, this place is great. We came hungry so we the pot stickers and the dry rub wings, both were really good. For entree I had the Wagyu Beef Burger which was so good (and perfectly cooked) and my boyfriend had the BYO burger which he built the way he likes and said it was great. For drinks we both had the White Mountain Mule which were really good. For dessert we had the butterscotch and banana bread pudding, omg!!! Like I'm going to dream about that one. When you walk in the door they proudly display an impressive Commitment that includes "incredible hospitality " . Before I get into how it was just the opposite for us I want to say Madison our waitress was great. But it stopped there in regards to the hospitality We called at earlier in the day for a 630 dinner reservation. Understandably, they don't take them but we were advised they have a 30 minute wait list that we should sign up for at 6pm. We arrived promptly at 630. When the 5 of us walked in a woman immediately came up to and said ' only 1 person can come in the Rey of you must stand outside'. I joked kicked out already and she opened the door. A 'Welcome to Black Cap' would have been nice. The hostess said it will be 20 minutes. No problem in these crazy times. It was too cold to stand outside so we sat in the car. 30 minutes passed we went back in and were told 5-10 minutes. 15 minutes later we went back in and were told 'should be soon'. While standing by myself another party of 5 came in. 3 without masks. They were told 10-15 and were all allowed to stand inside. They then sat them. I went to the manager and asked her if that party had been waitlisted. She said yes however 30 minutes after our time. I complained and she said 'I told the owner we should limit dining time'. I challenged her about their Commitment and she said it's hard to make people leave. An empathetic apology from the manager would have gone much father. We were finally seated at 7:50pm. Our water arrived at 8:01 and we asked to place our order. Once again Madison was great. Bottom line I get in these times it is hard to reliably predict wait times. But add it all up and you proud Commitment of 'Incredible Hospitality' is just not true. Sorry for this review as if you see my other 50+ they avg 4-5 as I'm pretty easily pleased. read more

Black Cap has now become one of our preferred restaurants when visiting the area. Despite the shortage of staff everywhere, they continue to offer exceptional service and food, along with a wait list you can get on from home and not have to go to the restaurant to be put on, which continues to give them an advantage to most other restaurants in the area, in my opinion: m The menu has changed since we were here last year but we were not disappointed. This place was great! My wife and I were able to sit outside with our pup ('The Distinguished Mr. Jeffrey') and the atmosphere was great - good music and a heat lamp overhead to keep us warm. We got the potstickers and wings which we loved (the sriracha sauce was delicious) and then split a burger. The burger was huge and tasty with a variety of toppings to build it.
