Creme brulee
R David P.

We came here on a Saturday night to celebrate my sister's birthday and were very impressed overall. The warm bread with oil was a great start, and the loaded potato skins ($13) were delicious even without the ranch. Drinks were solid and fairly priced: a spruce tip golden ale ($6.75), Modelo ($6), margarita ($15), and two glasses of German Riesling ($23). Entrees included chicken Florentine (subbed with shrimp for +$3), chicken fettuccine Alfredo, and fettuccine primavera (with shrimp for +$7). Everything came out hot, seasoned well, and very tasty, though my Florentine was light on spinach. Desserts were a highlight--raspberry cheesecake that was fluffy and creamy with a good crust, and a rich crème brûlée that disappeared quickly. The restaurant itself is small and cozy, set in what feels like an old home. Inside has around 15 tables and can get loud; the staff accommodated our request to move outside to the porch, which turned out to be perfect. Service was friendly, though our server forgot small requests like bread and to-go boxes until later. Prices felt fair, portions were generous, and the menu is well-balanced. My only real nitpicks: no Pinot Noir on the wine list (surprising for the PNW), and the Florentine could use more spinach. Parking is limited to a few street spots or a dirt lot across the way that seemed fine. Bottom line: excellent food, cozy atmosphere, and a great value. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area--and even worth a little road trip.

Delicious dinner last night! I highly recommend Ceasar salad, bacon cheese burger and the chicken parmegiana- chicken topped with mozzarella and tomato sauce. Of course we took home 3 loaves of garlic bread for family dinner the next night. Complete with garlic butter at $3 a piece. A steal!!!

Went to this little gem of an Italian restaurant in Black Diamond. The first restaurant we truly enjoyed in the MV-BD area. Appetizers: We ordered the Crispy Calamari and the Chicken wings. Calamari along with its dipping sauce was yummy. Wings weren't the best, a little dry but the kids enjoyed it. Definitely order the Calamari! They served us garlic bread which was nice while we waited for food. Entrees: Our party of 5 tried the Chicken Florentine, shrimp scampi, spaghetti and meatballs, the Caesar salad and the chopped salad. The grilled chicken breast on the salads were so well seasoned and char-grilled. The Italian dressing on the chopped salad was yummy too. The spaghetti and meatballs were very tasty didn't feel like the sauce came from a bottle. While I didn't try the rest, we all enjoyed the food thoroughly. Pasta portions are huge too! The shrimp scampi doesn't come with pasta like at other Italian chains. Desserts: The best part of the meal...... The tiramisu.... Don't ever enter and not order this! This place isn't stingy with the dessert portions. It can be easily shared. It's a tiny place but very cozy and extremely friendly staff! Will definitely be back!

Delicious meal! The restaurant is a small space, but not cramped. The staff were friendly and we got our orders taken and food delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Excellent dinner choice.

Phenomenal service and great food! The Bartender put us at her favorite table in the corner by the windows and it was a lovely experience. The Espresso martini was amazing! I will be dreaming about the chicken piccata. Thrilled to have this restaurant near home.

The Vacio wagyu is always perfectly tender, and continually warmed on the hot stone with its accompanying salt and chimichurri. That item alone makes me go out of my way to fulfill a craving. An honorable mention goes to their complimentary refried bean tostadas, which is very underrated. The loaded Papa Loca potato is large for sharing, perfectly baked the first time, but underbaked/too starchy the second time. The mushrooms aren't special enough with just a coating of cheese and an unappetizing heavy hand of red pepper flake coating. My toddler honestly has a palate for good burgers, but his dislike was mutual; tasting it it out of curiosity, the wagyu cheeseburger needed more flavor, while the fries seemed over-cooked in old oil. The first time on a weekday, everything seemed great. The second time around for a busy Mother's Day weekend, it just seemed everything was rushed, especially the food preparation.

It probably just comes down to what this restaurant does well vs. what they're trying to do to accommodate everyone. Six people ordered breakfast, one person ordered a sandwich, and I ordered the Yummy Bowl because it was one of two vegan options on the lunch menu (nothing vegan on the breakfast menu). It was really bad. The flavor and texture were yucky. Nothing was seasoned except the "yummy sauce," which had the strangest flavor. It just didn't taste good. I was grateful I got a side of fries, which were excellent. I'm sure they're trying to accommodate vegans, but there is still some work to do there so the food tastes good and isn't just put together to say there is a vegan option on the menu. Everyone else loved their food. It's a nostalgic place for all of them, too, so that adds to their experience. They sat us in a room with a door, and that was lovely because it gave us some privacy and toned down the noise. For me, that was the best part of our brunch outing. We stopped by the bakery before leaving, and my husband loaded up on his favorites, and I got a loaf of San Francisco sourdough (which I ate a bit of the next day, and it was delicious). I haven't been here in years, and I probably won't be back for a while, but I will return because it's a family favorite. Maybe I'll just stick with fries and some toast next time!

I sauntered in like a champion heifer entering the show ring, only to find the bar manager evaluating tap lines with the same precision as a certified livestock judge at the World Dairy Expo. The draft list is organized by breed characteristics - I mean, beer styles - with scoring cards that would make the American Dairy Science Association blush. The head bartender, a former 4-H Grand Champion (dairy cattle division), approaches each pour with the same dedication she once showed while preparing her prize-winning Jersey for the Supreme Champion competition. She inspects each glass with the thoroughness of a udder examination at the World Beef Expo. Their flight paddle, "The Grand Champion," arrives presented on a bed of cedar shavings (food-grade, obviously) that would make any show barn proud. Each beer is scored on a point system suspiciously similar to the Holstein Association USA's Linear Classification Program - with categories like "Body Depth" and "Dairy Form" replaced with "Head Retention" and "Hop Expression." The beer garden has been sectioned off like a livestock pavilion, with different areas designated for various beer styles. I witnessed a heated debate about proper beer classification that rivaled the intensity of the Brown Swiss Canton Show's judge's deliberation. A grizzled regular, known only as "The Cattle Whisperer," holds court at the corner table, evaluating each patron's beer selection like he's judging dairy cow confirmation. "Nice topline on that IPA," he'll mutter while taking detailed notes in what appears to be an official American Angus Association scorecard. Monthly "Show & Tell" competitions require customers to present their beers with the same poise and professionalism as a youth showmanship class. Points are deducted for improper hand position on the glass and failure to maintain eye contact with the judge. Five stars? Please. This place earns the Supreme Champion banner and Best of Show rosette! P.S. The staff performs the change with the coordinated precision of a champion dairy fitting team. P.P.S. The bathroom keys are attached to show halters, and you must demonstrate proper showmanship techniques to be deemed worthy. The bouncer is a certified livestock judge, and he's not impressed by your amateur handling skills. P.P.P.S. Legend says that on competition nights, the ghost of a legendary dairy cattle judge appears to evaluate the beer selection. Flights have been found mysteriously rearranged in perfect showmanship formation. P.P.P.P.S. Funny thing is, Maple Valley has become semi affluent over the past decade, and I never would have expected this to be the attitude, but I assure you, I stood out like a bruised thumb here. Service was really slow and for a while, I thought I was being ignored. The only person I saw working walked by me about 3-4 times before saying a word and asking me what I was drinking. I had already seen what I assumed was the menu on Yelp via photos, and short or a very small price increase from 2022, it was spot on. I ordered my food and it was prepared fairly quick, the cook slapped the bell, and the server grabbed it in about a minute, but my meal was barely warm., I had a burger dip and the burger and au jus were both room temp. The fries were golden, but also room temp and not crisp. It was disappointing, because you could tell the food was better than you would expect, but nothing it great at room temp. My drink went unfilled, and it was at least 15 minutes after I finished eating that I was handed the check. The server was so busy being social with regulars, I didn't get the attention I needed. For me, a meal is 30-40 from entry to exit, I was here almost 90 minutes to give you an idea of how slow the service was, It wasn't busy, the server was just not doing her job and the longer I sat, the less welcome I felt. Honestly, I've had warmer reception in Enumclaw and that is a city notorious for refusing diversity. Whoever owns this place needs to be more involved and if you invested some money into updating the décor and focusing on a better atmosphere, you could attract a crowd, as of now, you get 2 stars despite what I see as 4-star potential.

During our visit it was 'seat yourself' and a waitress came right over with menus and took our drink order. As it was early, we ordered coffee and water. Coffee is good and hot. Cream on table with salt, pepper, hot sauce and ketchup. Our beverages were brought over by another staff member, Paula, who told us our waitress would be right with us. Except she wasn't. After ten minutes I was worried. After 20 minutes I was getting concerned. Our waitress showed up shortly there after and we placed our order. Paula came around a few times refilling coffees, clearing tables and bringing checks. I wandered into their bakery area while waiting for our food, took photos, read the info there and then out to the historic bar area to check it out. You can order cakes and cheese cakes from their bakery as well as take a slice to-go, or enjoy a slice in house. Our waitress saw me there on her way into the kitchen and asked if I needed something. "No, just looking". OK then. We think our waitress was working both the kitchen and the dining room which is why she was often out of sight. So two staff in FOH with one of them helping BOH. That's a lot. She brought our food when ready plus a selectiin of jams for our english muffin. We asked for silverware which she promotly brought. The marionberry jam, a hybrid blackberry from Oregon, is excellent. The food is quite good. Corned beef hash is without a doubt made fresh. Big pieces of shredded beef with potatoes and lots of fresh spices. This hash has a zing to it. We both ordered the small portion of their corned beef so it came with one egg (instead of two) and we chose english muffin (instead of toast) and got half each (vs. a whole each). With a side of their potatoes, which were also good and plentiful, we had enough left overs for breakfast the next day. Which we also enjoyed. All told, we were in and out in one hour. Food was very good. We always had coffee. We thought our waitress was unfriendly, but she's just super busy. So five stars for holding down the dining rooms with two staff members and serving tasty, well prepared food. Paula processed our card payment. Forgot to check out the restrooms. I think they are in the last dining area (where a big business meeting of some company was going on at the time) behind the bar room.
