Tried this place on a hot PNW day, 85F. July 18th for dinner at about 5:45 pm It was HOT inside. Too hot. When asked, something about the owners locking the thermostats! A/C reduces the humidity as well. Being sticky and muggy while eating sucks! Change this! We melt in the PNW above 72F! WTHeck? Customers comfort before saving pennies! Install ceiling fans to move the air as well would help. Besides the customer is always right. Get the A/C fixed or UPGRADED. Otherwise the place is nice. The tables and chairs appear to be made from SOLID WOOD! Impressive quality. A good layout that is not loud or echoing. The wait staff was awesome. She was so apologetic about the heat. I felt bad for the workers in that hot environment. Service was prompt and drinks refilled in a timely manner. The order was right. It was a little slow to arrive but there was a large party in the main area, right of the front door. I ordered Teriyaki chicken. Sorry that was NOT TERIYAKI! It was BBQ sauce chicken. LEARN what teriyaki is. Try Dr Yoshida's sauce to marinade it atleast. Once I accepted my expectation of teriyaki was dashed, it was excellent. The chicken was moist and tender. Not like some that are tough old birds. It has a good, not to sweet BBQ, tomato sauce flavor. The dinner salad with it's croutons was great. The Thousand Island was homemade and good. The rice pilaf had real, large, tender chunks of carrots and was delicious. When they did not have white rice with the teriyaki I should have suspected something, yet the pilaf was excellent. The portions are HUGE! Be prepared to take some home or be filled! The pies looked great, but had NO room for them! Darn. I'm going to give this place five stars. The breakfast was hot and wonderful. The restaurant was clean and tidy and had a excellent parking area. You can actually see where they have their cooking area and the chef cooks like a pro. I would recommend this place to anyone. The employees actually acted like they wanted to come to work and had a great smile on their face. I appreciated the wonderful breakfast and the wonderful morning I spent with you all. I've been to Nikki's about five times now. Every experience has been good, but not excellent. The environment: It's a cheerful little restaurant! It's clean, happy, and bright. However, the tables are packed closely together. On one of the booth seats, I believe it's attached both ways; my side of the booth seat and then the neighbor's side of the booth seat. So... the person at the table behind me kept shifting around in their seat, causing the side of mine to lift up and down a little with each motion. This was incredibly annoying, though it was only these booth seats that had this annoying function. The food: The food was good, but came in pretty small portions. Just one waffle with fruit, eggs, and two strips of bacon were about $20. The food was good, but it did seem a little spendy to me. The service: My fruit waffle barely had any whipped cream - I didn't say anything about it - but the waitress noticed and immediately got more whipped cream for it. So shoutout to the awesome waitress, Monse! She was so kind, cheerful, and absolutely awesome! Also, my cousin ordered waffles without butter, but she got a waffle with a big slab of butter on it. Some of the patrons were friendly, others definitely weren't and made it crystal clear that they do not embrace diversity or the BIPOC community. Wow, what a great restaurant!! We had approximately 15 people set up to have dinner after a memorial service on 8-7-26 at 4:00 p. We stopped in a week prior and made the arrangements for the group. 2 hrs before the event we get a call to confirm we're still a go. We confirm, as we arrived we were created with the kindest server, filled with eagerness and kind words of condolences. The place was moderately busy, clean and everyone was very friendly. Our area was prepped and waiting as promised, we ordered a few appetizers for everyone... jalapeño popper, prawns, queso dip with chips, beef and chicken mini tacos. All drinks arrived first, then the appetizers. Everything was hot, fresh and very tasty. After a bit orders were taking for our meals. Fish and chips, burgers, taco salad, loaded baked potato, Caesars salad, then a 4 sausage, 3egg, hasbrown, breakfast, then a 3gg 3bacon and fruit breakfast. EVERY SINGLE ITEM WAS FRESH, HOT AND SERVED PROMPTLY, (one person thought the sausage was off, manger immediately swapped the sausage for a substitute) This place offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, any time of the day. Plenty of items for all ages, and many options for special diets choices, keto, vegetarian and vegan. Handicap friendly, bathrooms were spotless... ample parking easy access, atmosphere was clean and welcoming. Manger was friendly and attentive. But the server, she was one phenomenal person, she handled our table by herself flawlessly. She was kind, attentive and friendly. Highly recommend trying place if you haven't. You won't be disappointed. Have a 4 for atmosphere because it seems a bit dated even though it was well kept. Gave a 4 for food because I believe food can always be improved even a little. We are new to the area and were looking for a place for breakfast. So we went to our handy Yelp app. Nikki's had good to moderate ratings and we thought, let's give it a try. The outside gives you diner vibes which we like. Inside it looks like they updated a bit with a 90's deco feel but clean and inviting. The staff welcomed us in and our server was very friendly and attentive. The breakfast menu had a good amount of options, not too much or too little. We got the Spanish omelette and the French toast. The omelette was huge with 4 eggs, mushrooms, ham, cheese, bell peppers and onions. I could only finish 1/2 as it came with toast, biscuit or muffin and hash browns. The French toast was buttery and crispy. Also came with bacon. Recommendation: Coffee, Coffee, Coffee. With the availability of so much great coffee that is not expensive, I suggest that you get away from the typical watery dishwater diner coffee. My kids and I were really hungry this afternoon and had a craving for pancakes. We tried to find a reliable breakfast spot, but given the time of day, our options were limited. I saw that Nikki's was open and advertised breakfast all day, so we decided to give it a try. I ordered the #2 combo, which included three eggs, bacon, and sourdough toast. I specifically asked for my hashbrowns to be crispy and my eggs over medium. My oldest son ordered what I believe was Nikki's Special from the kids' menu. I didn't get a photo of his meal, but I know he never received the toast that was supposed to come with it. He also didn't finish his orange juice because he said it tasted off, which is unusual for him. My youngest ordered pancakes, bacon, and eggs from the kids' menu. We were trying to keep things affordable since I knew he wouldn't eat the eggs. The waitress mentioned that this was likely the best option anyway, since ordering bacon by itself was $9. About 10 minutes after placing our order, a man in a white shirt and jeans came to our table. At first, I didn't know who he was or why he was talking to us. My kids were both under the weather and we had a doctor's appointment after the meal, so when he asked how we were doing and noticed my son coughing, I briefly wondered if he was a local doctor. It turned out he was with the restaurant and was asking about our drink order. Either he or the waitress brought our drinks a few moments later. Unfortunately, the meal was disappointing. The food was overpriced, and the quality didn't match the cost. My hashbrowns weren't crispy, and the overall flavor and experience reminded me of a below-average chain like IHOP or Howard Johnson's. I won't be returning. The high prices didn't match the quality of the food, and while I can't be certain, I ended up with an upset stomach later in the day that makes me wonder if the food may have been the cause. read more

I love biscuits and gravy and had really hoped this would be our new go to restaurant for breakfast... My husband was happy with his meal and our guests also enjoyed theirs. We decided to give this place a second chance. Service 4/5 our server was janetha. She was very very friendly! Very personable. My only slight complaint was that we'd asked for something and it took a second request to get it. Not a deal breaker tho. Food... Dijon steak. 4/5. I mean this place isn't John howie...but my husband thoroughly enjoyed his steak and the pasta. He ate the whole steak but was full so took the pasta home to our son who ate it all and said it was delicious. Turkey club. 5/5. I have zero complaints here. My husband and I thought we would try a new restaurant we were in the area. When we walked in, we noticed how clean and spacious the restaurant was .We decided to sit in the bar. We were greeted almost immediately and got beverages very quickly. I ordered San Francisco Joe's. And my husband ordered the ham and cheese omelette. as a bonus, they both came with hashbrowns which were cooked and had a nice crunch on them my favorite. I visited this restaurant many years ago and didn't enjoy the experience, so I was not surprised about the fairly low rating score and I really didn't want to go again. But my friend wanted to check them out, give them another chance, seeing that they changed ownership in 2022 I believe. I usually don't write reviews but I'm really glad we went to dine there tonight. The food was excellent, the menu offers a little bit of everything. The ambiance was relaxed clean simple diner style, upgraded from what I had remembered and the staff was attentive and friendly. Even the owner came by our table multiple times to check that we were happy with our food and service. My first time and maybe my last visit! Went here for Cinco de Mayo (5/05/23) at 6:30 PM, because a friend of mine had invited us to drop by. Once we parked, there were 3 guys who had just walked out for a smoke and were arguing about something or another! You could surely tell that they have had a couple of drinks already. Anyway, once we walked in, noticed there were a lot of Senior Citizens at the bar area. The ambiance wasn't what I was expecting since it was full of old timers and not many other age groups around... We ordered a Mojito and a Shirley Temple for our drinks. Then looked at the special Cinco de Mayo food menu and only saw the Chicken Tacos as something we wanted to eat, so told the bartender to place an order of those. As we were relaxing at our table and socializing with our friends, we kept wondering where the Tacos were... 20 minutes, nothing. 30 mins go by, no word from the server or bartender who took our order. After 40 minutes of waiting for some lousy 3-piece tacos that we never received, decided to tell our friends that we were leaving. Horrible service! Lack of attention to customers!! 0 Stars for Ambiance and terrible service for forgetting our food order! 1 Star for the Shirley Temple as it contained too much Cherry Liquer 4 Stars for the Mojito... Recently, when I ordered a reuben the corned beef was so tough I had to cut the sandwich into bite sized pieces in order to eat it. The knife could barely cut through it. At $20 for bacon and eggs, I can tell you I have paid less for much better. Lil Jon's in Bellevue is still the gold standard. The bacon here was so thin that the 4 pieces are equal to a single thick cut piece from most restaurants. The meal came with 3 eggs. Normally, I can barely finish 2 eggs, but as you know, eggs come in sizes and these were small eggs. Hashbrowns didn't have very good flavor. You can to season your grill and cook them with butter to get that golden brown color and Idaho flavor. Every town needs a diner and this is Covington's, unfortunately, they really need to provide better value and more flavorful food. There is no need for me to return here, It's clear current ownership doesn't know what a good meal tastes like. read more

My wife and I recently returned to Nikki's after a looong absence. We discovered there are new owners. We saw an appealing new menu. We saw some of our old favorites on there and lots of new selections. We saw the same great pie case/display in the lobby area - I've missed their pies and took a big slice of Coconut Cream home with me.. The restaurant was very clean and bright and while it looked the same, there was something - fresh - about it. Good to be back! Our Server, Janet(?) was very helpful, friendly, accommodating and outgoing. I had the Grilled Reuben and it was a fantastic sandwich! I really enjoyed it! Nikki's is back on our Go-To list.
