The place is neat. We went there during lunch today. I checked the reviews before eating there with the hubby and I was able to see some comments saying that price point is a bit high compared to the portion of the serving... and I have to agree. I got the "crispy japanese cobb" ($12) which I'm kinda internally disappointed on getting since I am kinda expecting more to it that just what looks like thin slices of fried chicken nuggets on a bed of cheese, relatively small amount of iceberg lettuce, 2 cucumber slices and a few pieces of sliced baby tomatoes. It would have been nice if there's an option for a katsu sauce to match the chicken they claim as a "katsu chicken" but nada, there's none so I just sticked with a commercial peanut sauce. So me and my girl placed an order through door dash for pick up and the estimated time was 45 min so we waited before going to pick up, we got there and our order was not ready nor had it even been started had to wait another 25 min and you can definitely tell they rushed making our food, presentation was terrible. We get home and start eating the food, we had a shrimp roll with little to no shrimp/meat AT ALL! As well as the other rolls were very disappointing in flavor. Onion soup was bad as well, not sure how you can mess onion soup up. The eel was very soggy and not fresh, SPROUTS has way better sushi than this. In my personal opinion and experience take your money elsewhere. Absolutley terrible customer service. I first ordered a while back and they "forgot" part of my order... no big deal that happens, I just let it go. Then today I placed and uber eats order which came out to be $75.00 (4 different items). A very kind uber eats driver delivered it and then I realized there was only 2 boxes in the order... They must have forgotten 2 of my other entrees again. So I called to see if I could come pick them up. The manager was extremely rude on the phone and said I was lying because he knew the uber driver and knew that he put them in the one bag (which 4 boxes would not even fit in 1 bag) and he doesn't care he will not give me any sort of compensation or even let me come pick up the rest of my order I just paid $75.00 for an $8.00 appetizer and a 12.00 orange chicken meal with dry rice. I can not believe this man was so rude. I will advise everyone I know to stay far away from this establishment. read more

If you're a sushi lover or you want to try sushi for the first time I recommend you come here and try any of their sushi! I LOVE sushi! So when I recently came across this restaurant.... I was so in love with JUST the name alone. I visited this restaurant on a Monday evening. The establishment was very nice. I liked the decor, and the staff was very friendly! Our waitress was Skylar... she gave great suggestions about the sushi and other menu items. Our appetizer... the Shrimp Shuma came out very quickly... it was small but the taste did NOT disappoint. We got three rolls, two fresh (sexy belly salmon & sea monster roll) and one fried (the dolly Madison) The fresh rolls were amazing, my only complaint was the presentation on the rolls were a little basic. Of course it did not effect the flavor, I just would've liked to see more decoration on my plate. Now.... the fried roll::: I generally like the fried/baked rolls whenever I visit a sushi restaurant. This however was a little strange. the coating was not like of fried rolls I've ever had... it was crunchy, but seemed more dense than usual. This was a nice looking restaurant, service good. Being half Chinese, I've a deep love for Asian cuisine, and having moved here from NY, been looooong hunting for something close to authentic. So, here's my take. My clear broth soup is simple, had a nice flavor. The same broth was used in the won ton soup that my husband ordered - also, good. We decided to try the tempura appetizer. Not overly battered, but the shrimp were smaller than usual. THAT was my first disappointment. They do not offer a very popular kani salad which is served in most Japanese cuisine style restaurants. Second disappointment. So, I ordered a simple salad, with ginger dressing. The taste was unlike anything resembling a true ginger dressing, which had left a very bitter aftertaste.... I wouldn't recommend it. Next, the eggroll. Heavily loaded with cabbage, not much evidence of any other vegetable and scarce amount of pork. Again, that's a no for me. When my order of the bento box arrived, the real moment of deep disappointment set in. Not from the quality of food, but the most incredibly smallest portion of food in all sections of the box that I'd ever seen. A typical box contains: a vegetable tempura (again, small portion), gyoza/or shumai, a California roll and a chosen entree. The 2 Gyoza were very small, but tasty. Most will serve a usually small, but a WHOLE roll in the lunch bento box, as there is a balanced amount of food provided. That is what makes a bento box so appealing!! In this case, there are only 2 very small pieces of the California roll. I'd NEVER seen that. Anywhere. Ever. The entree, (I ordered the steak teriyaki), was the only reason I had slightly enjoyed this bento box. The steak, (again, small portion with an over abundance of onions and some vegetables), had been cooked as ordered and had a nice seasoning to it. That was truly the highlight of my actual meal. My husband had the Mongolian beef. Slightly overcooked, it was overly salty, fried rice that accompanied it was not very palatable. I didn't know that it was possible to ruin fried rice. Dessert, was the only saving grace. I sampled the mochi ice cream - YUM!! and, hubby the deep fried cheesecake - SUPER YUM!!! Overall, quality of food was okay, but the pricing point to portion size, NOT at all worth it in my opinion. I will happily stick with my hidden gem when I'm in need of good sushi and Japanese cuisine in this area, and will not be back to this establishment. read more

Not bad, but not great. This was our first time visiting and will most likely be our only one. My husband ordered Mongolian Beef with rice, his dish consisted of about 5 small slices of meat and an overwhelming amount of onions and peppers. I ordered the Hero roll (shrimp tempura, cream cheese, avocado, cucumber with spicy crab on top). About two pieces of my roll actually had shrimp while the remainder just had fried tempura. Also, the crab was slightly fishy tasting. The roll had a good amount of rice, but very minimal of all the other items within the roll. Not the best potstickers I've ever had I think I can cook better ones in my own kitchen out of a frozen bag from Harris Teeter. Wasabi is not spicy enough. Which I'm leaving though as possible. Actual the sushi is cheaper in California then at black Ginger. They charge way to much for sub par sushi. But then again most of the people come here eat rolls. There are a couple of pros and cons. The food is pretty decent, not great. But it's pretty decent overall. It's best to put it like this example: not all parts of the dish I and my girlfriend ordered were equally good. My orange sauce on my orange chicken was marvelous, but my broccoli was pretty bland. The stir fry my girlfriend ordered had dry chicken, but the noodles were great. Honestly it needs a bit of improvement overall with consistency. But it's a nice environment and atmosphere and the food isn't bad. It could just be better in general. Good for leftovers though. Lot of food on those plates. read more

If you have not tried this Asian restaurant yet you are missing out! From the sushi to the Curry you will find something for everyone. They have a full, fresh sushi menu and it's reasonably priced! Try the Hero Roll with crab,avocado, cream cheese, tempura flakes and a spicy sauce on top; you'll be glad you did! Our favorite dishes are the curries and the orange chicken. The curry is slightly spicy even if you ask for no spice, but I keep going back for more. The orange chicken has a nice crunch to it with a sweet sauce whose spice can also be adjusted to suit your taste buds. There is not a children's menu any more but our kids ate the chicken wing appetizer and those were nice and crispy!! This restaurant is generally good but inconsistent. My recommendation is to stick with the Thai and Japanese offerings and avoid the Chinese dishes. The Thai curry was excellent with just the right amount of heat. On the other hand, the kung pao chicken was very bland, despite my request to kick up the level of spice a little bit. Great new addition with excellent sushi and Thai dishes. Enjoyed several great rolls and a fresh and delicious Pad Thai. The ambiance, enthusiasm and quality of food preparation are notable. Two subsequent visits have included a remarkable green curry and several excellent rolls, including their Black Ginger roll and the Lobster Monster roll.
