Upon arrival, He already had the stencil ready to put on my arm. He did his magic for 6 hours. He is light handed, which is great for the style of tattoo I want. I didn't feel anything when he was tattooing me; maybe my pain tolerance is high or he's just gentle with his tattooing techniques. The entire session felt like it went by so fast. Fast forward to Christmas Eve, I text her and said, "Let's go the day after Christmas. No excuses." I searched for a tattoo shop with good reviews and found Lucky Buddha Tattoo. Since it was Christmas Eve night, I couldn't get ahold of anyone (understandably), so we decided to just try our luck the next day. The shop is located off San Juan and Madison, which can be a busy area, but there's parking right out front... huge win. When we walked in, we were greeted by their apprentice, Sophia, who was incredibly sweet and welcoming. We explained what we wanted and hoped we could get it done that day. Our original idea was to place the tattoo on the palm area, but Sophia was very transparent about how ink usually doesn't hold well there. She suggested an alternative placement that still worked perfectly with our vision. After discussing the price, we decided to go for it. Luckily, she had availability right then and there. She was so patient, making every tweak and edit we asked for without hesitation or attitude Absolute gem. While she was designing, we hung out up front and got some unexpected puppy therapy! their sweet pit bull wandered over and decided my friend was her chosen human. She jumped right into her lap and chilled, which was especially adorable since my friend is normally scared of big dogs. Instant icebreaker. The entire vibe of the shop was warm, friendly, and chill. The owner even came out and chatted with us for a bit, which just added to the good energy. Once we finalized the design, Sophia got to work. She had a gentle hand, and each tattoo only took about 20 minutes. We walked out beyond happy. the tattoos came out perfect, and the experience was even better. Thank you Sophia, for your awesome work! I'll definitely be coming back for my next one.

Eli Rushing was my artist, and he took me as a walk-in. I came in wanting to get my newborn son's footprints tattooed on each side of my Tree of Life. We bounced around a few ideas and landed on a design I was really excited about. Eli absolutely nailed it. We had great conversation throughout the session, and once it was done, I was genuinely blown away by the finished piece. On a whim, I also asked if he'd be willing to touch up some faded Hawaiian islands I have on my other arm, and he didn't hesitate. He was happy to do it, which I really appreciated. The pricing was very fair, and I tipped well because I felt he absolutely deserved it. That was fully my choice, just based on the quality of the work and the overall experience. Everyone coming through the shop was friendly, talkative, and welcoming. Even the shop hand stood out--she was constantly making sure the artists had what they needed and was great with customers. You can see why this place has won so many awards. The shop and the artists absolutely live up to that reputation. This was my second visit to Blush, and unfortunately, the experience was very different from my…read morefirst. I scheduled a visit a few days in advance for three people and four services and paid an $80 deposit ($20 per service) via Venmo. One person canceled that morning, but I was able to switch to a different service for myself that same day vs. losing my deposit. The two pedicures were fine. They were basic pedicures, and aside from the water initially being extremely hot, I was happy with the results. Because of the deposit, there was also no wait time. The head spa, however, was a completely different experience. This was my first head spa, so I was excited and expected it to be relaxing. Unfortunately, it was anything but. The massage was brief, and despite the menu stating that oils would be used, none were applied. During the double cleanse, the technician used her fingernails rather than her fingertips, which became painful. There was also an excessive amount of cleanser, and rinsing it out was difficult. The water temperature was extremely inconsistent--going from hot to ice cold--and water got into my ear. Instead of feeling relaxed, I was uncomfortable throughout the service. Afterward, my hair was not completely dry. When I asked for serum, I was told it had already been applied, and I had to explain that I wanted my hair fully dried and soft. Another staff member eventually finished drying it, and the end result was much better. The two services totaled $138, or $158 with a 15% tip. I shared all of this feedback with the front desk before leaving. They were receptive and said they would provide additional training. I was also told that the technician was new to the salon and has some communication issues. I appreciate that they listened to my concerns, but based on my head-spa experience, I would not return for that service. *********************************************************** FINAL THOUGHTS Making a reservation requires a deposit, but it does give you priority if there's a wait. PRO TIP: I visited on a Saturday around noon, and it wasn't busy at all. If you're coming in solo, you can probably skip the reservation and deposit. I've had two pedicures here, and the service was totally fine. No issues at all. I also clearly saw the technicians using Barbicide to disinfect their metal tools, although I didn't pay attention to where they pulled the drill bits from. Overall, the salon is CLEAN, which I really appreciate. Personally, I wouldn't get a head spa treatment here again. I was told they're having plumbing issues because the building is old and that their plumber hasn't been able to resolve the problem. However, based on my experience, I feel some of the issues were related to the technician and not just the plumbing. That said, I'd love to hear from others who have had a head spa here. How was your experience with the water temperature? Did you have a better experience with a different technician? I'd genuinely be curious to know!

I made an appointment for 9:45am and was immediately greeted and seated at a pedicure station - I was also offered water too. I went with the Deluxe Pedicure which was $42 + extra for the Gel polish. The lady who did my pedicure was very friendly while taking her time - she did a great job! They're very personable at Monet Spa which I also like - the owner remembered my name and that I'm married and have a daughter. The staff is always so grateful to see you back too! Overall, I'm glad I decided to come back and give them another chance. This is definitely my new favorite nail salon!

Black gold is a classic and authentic tattoo shop. I have been tattooed at Black Gold 6 different times by a a few of the several talented and badass artists there (Josh, Marcos, Shelby) and never been less than stoked after my appointment! Not only does each artist there have their own unique personal style, they are willing and capable to do custom designs of any style! The customer service and communication from this team really sets the bar, they provide professional and creative feedback on the tattoos where its much like a collaboration between the artist and client. Even while getting tattooed chatting with the artists feels like catching up with a old friends rather than the egos, attitudes or awkwardness that some other may shops have. Not to mention the vibe is hella rad, the collected art on display at the shop is reminiscent of a curated gallery and chock full of inspiration for tattoo ideas. Marcos is one of the best American traditional artists I've been tattooed by (he does many other styles too.) Super friendly and easy to work with. As an introvert, I appreciate that he chats with you and keeps things comfortable without making you feel like you have to carry a conversation the entire session. He's also very light handed and checks in throughout the tattoo to make sure you're doing okay, which makes the whole experience way more comfortable. Mischa absolutely killed it on my tattoo. The line work is super clean and the color is insanely vibrant! you can tell he really knows what he's doing, especially when it comes to color work. The shading and placement make the whole piece pop and it came out even better than I imagined. I came here on Friday the 13th deals and he took his time and didn't rush at all! I went to Marcos with something a little out of the ordinary, a medieval snail smoking a cigar, and he nailed it. Had such a great experience, we went in for walk in's at 9pm and the team was friendly, welcoming, and kind. I requested a swallow and Ezra did a phenomenal job. He was happy to make sure it was exactly what I was looking for and made it look incredible. Had a great conversation about life and couldn't have felt more relaxed. This was my first professional tattoo and Ezra made me feel very comfortable during the entire process. He walked me through the entire tattoo and made sure I was comfortable. Great shop, luckily Bobcat had some time between clients for a walk-in. I showed him what I wanted and he was able to draw it up and get right to it. Emma was really patient doing several attempts to get the placing I wanted. I had originally reached out to her on IG and she responded quickly and was flexible in the scheduling. Greg has done most of my husband's ink so he's always great to work with. I was also happy that while we were figuring out placement Greg gave some pointers that helped us decide the best placement. The shop is clean and there are some well lit spots for taking photos. I love my newest piece and it was small enough that it only took about 20 minutes for the whole thing. Both artists are easy to work with. A customer came in while Greg was still working on my husband and she was a bit demanding in her communication, but Greg was calm and worked with her to schedule and appointment.
