I heard about Black Gold by word of mouth from one of my regular artists and after checking out the shop's IG, I immediately fell in love with Nate Daskalos' work. He is a true master at traditional tattoos and uses solid line work and bright, saturated, punchy colors. I knew when I saw his work with peonies and flowers that I had to have some of his art on my body! Working with Nate was so easy...he's extremely friendly, funny, and made the whole tattoo experience a fun one for me. We sat and chatted the whole time about any and every thing which I always appreciate, I love artists that like to talk and get to know their clients...best of all, he's an extremely efficient tattooer and works pretty dang fast...I was amazed at how quickly we blasted through these, he even had my favorite candy (Airheads!!!) on hand for a tattoo snack. That's when I knew we were meant to work together. The shop had so much cool art and had really good energy, which is sometimes hard to come by in some shops. I've been to a lot of tattoo shops that didn't really treat their clients properly and had a negative vibe. Tattoo done by Ezra, I came into Black gold with an idea and Ezra excelled it. I felt very comfortable in this shop and everyone had a great personality. It's a pretty cool shop, lots of artwork on the walls and cool little collectible nic nacks. The color usage was spot on so I'm really happy the way it turned out. I booked with Mischa to get a piece on my décolleté that spread to my shoulder and to incorporate and refresh a previous piece. His ideas for how to make my inspo pic translate to ink and skin were phenomenal, his color work is nothing short of pure artistry, and it was clear he was really passionate about his work. Midway through our session I was craving sour candy and the shop guy, Mitch, ran over to a store and grabbed some for me. He was incredible at checking in with the artists and their clients to see if anybody needed anything consistently the several hours I was there. We have been coming to the shop for years on random occasions. I'm newly disabled and just celebrated my one year anniversary of surveys catastrophic medical emergency. Yes that is dramatic as it sounds and deserved to be commemorated with a tattoo. I have not only lost most of my ability to balance, but part of my mouth is also paralyzed. I contacted the shop via facebook/instagram message and explained I could not call and my situation. I began texting Ezra and we set up an appointment.
