This was not far from some friends so we stopped in here for dinner one day. It was pouring rain outside but inside was warm and welcoming, we got a table right away. Real service. We have been grateful (after 20+ yrs) to have a local restaurant come into our neighborhood. Fresh food, great cocktails and consistently done. On a few occasions using the Toast app for takeout it's has created confusion/wrong orders and last night we finally drove back with our pizza. Previously we just sucked it up. (order black olives=received kalamata olives?? Add ricotta to your pizza=it removes the regular mozzarella blend chz so no cheese??) You always anticipate push back on a return however the staff appreciated the feedback about last nights order and the feedback of previous orders we had not shared. While waiting for our new pizza multiple staff members asked if we needed assistance and kept us aware of the status of our order. What a great team of people and the new pizza was delicious. Depending on the time of day/day of the week you stop by, it can be kinda busy here. BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! We went for lunch last week (got seated right away- bonus!) and split some onion rings while we waited for our meals: I got a custom pizza and my fiancé got the fajita bowl. We didn't wait long at all and the food was absolutely phenomenal! Service is impeccable, they make you feel very taken care of. The inside of the restaurant is super chic- some rustic and some modern elements- and it's very pretty and open. The bar is huge too. We will definitely be going back again soon! 12/10 read more

I have been meaning to try this neighborhood establishment for sometime, but until recently they have not had a website just a Facebook page so being able to determine what they offered in hours wasn't always the easiest We went there for dinner on Saturday night and the place was fairly busy. The young kid at the host stand was a little inexperienced and unsure of himself. Our waitress was friendly and efficient I'm not sure how many tables she had as we did not see her that often at our table did see her hustling around the entire time. Food was good I had the fish and chips which was a nicely fried beer battered piece of fish in the fries were unique in a good way. The only negatives were that there was no salt, pepper or ketchup on the table. We requested salt, pepper, ketchup vinegar. But only received salt and ketchup. For some reason, the fish and chips was not served with a side of tartar sauce, which I had to request. It didn't show up until I was almost finished. Beer selection seemed a little limited Overall, it was a decent experience and I would give the place another shot read more

So I was looking for something new in the area and read some reviews on this place and decided to give it a try. We were a little early for dinner so decided to get an appetizer and some salads before the dinner menu was offered. We ordered the tater tot kegs with bacon cheddar and chives, they were very tasty with a nice crispy outside and a really pillowy inside. None of the components overpowered the other which made them that much better. The salads were very fresh and the dressings were great. When the mains came out I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and hot everything was, my steak was cooked to perfection and the potatoes wedges were a very nice touch instead of the same old mashed potatoes. The green beans were not overcooked and had a nice garlic taste too them as well. My wife's meal was nicely prepared and the mushroom sauce was excellent and the braised short ribs were very flavorful and very tender, and the onion rings were excellent as well. We've been back a few times since my review. They had a great chef and now he's gone. Since then the quality and portion size has gone way down. Not nearly as good as they once were. This is a tough update to write because we like the owner. They had an award winning chef and BLT has suffered from his absence. Had dinner with my Wife this past Saturday. Called to make a last minute reservation for dinner, hostess was friendly and accommodating. Dining room is nicely designed in a modern way. Service was exceptional from start to finish. Cocktail was perfect, beer was fresh and tasty. Dinner was amazing! We had Salmon and Roast Chicken, both were perfect. I have been to this restaurant a few times since it opened and had a good experience every time. As I write this review they have 1 review and a 2 star rating. That had not been my experience. Mine had been a 4 star experience on at least 3 visits. I am rating them a 5 to help their average. I have had the burger, salmon and steak as entrees and all were tasty and well prepared. I have ordered the hummus platter every visit and it is great. There is a very good selection of wine beer and cocktails. I like the house Malbec. Please see the pic I posted of the menu. The decor and ambiance is nice and is well done. The bar area is spacious and the seating is plentiful. So is the outdoor seating area in good weather. My service has been exceptional on every visit. I would be happy to come back here any time ...and will. If I had one ding it would be to have a few better vegan options. I am not a vegan but dine with them and like to eat this way sometimes. A vegan protein for salads would be an easy add. So would an entree or too. Fried tofu, some local squash, maybe skip the feta on the hummus plate, ... and I hear quinoa is popular with the vegan set. Anyway, really like this place overall. Very pleased to have it in this part of Plymouth. Not sure what happened with other reviewer. Every time I am in there are plenty of happy diners. Two thumbs up. read more

We celebrated an 87th birthday there, the youngest attendee being 8 . Everyone easily chose a meal they liked including from a kids menu. The menu is well thought out. Parking is readily available and there is play area outback for the kids. The whole area is impressive. read more

Dined at the Black Lantern Tavern with a party of 11 this past week. It was a great experience - everyone was friendly and welcoming. Our server was attentive the entire evening. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. The appetizers were delicious. We got the fried calamari, wings, tater kegs, steak and cheese egg rolls and the bang bang cauliflower. The scallops for my main course were perfectly cooked and the other members of the party all enjoyed their meals as well. Give this place a try, and I think you'd be glad that you did. read more

My husband, another couple and I decided to try a newly opened fine dining restaurant in the Redbrook Community in Plymouth, MA. The furnishings and lighting were very tasteful and the ambiance comfortable and serene. Our male companion was very satisfied with the seafood cioppino dish he ordered along with a rather dry Caesar Salad. My husband and I shared a flavorful Capresse salad to start and decided to try something new: a short rib poutine entree. We were sorely disappointed and left most of it uneaten. It turned out to be a bowlful of mush containing about four minuscule pieces of meat with soggy French fries, and tasteless melted cheese covered with what tasted like canned meat gravy. Given that the first words for this entry on the menu were short ribs, we expected a decent portion of meat on the bone and got neither. When the waitress checked on us, I explained our disappointment and she just apologized, not offering to give us a substitution or remove the charge for the dish. She could easily tell we were unhappy with the choice, yet made no effort to check with the manager to make things right. Since this restaurant has only been open a few weeks, and it wasn't overly crowded, I would think the owners/manager would make a concerted effort to make sure customers left feeling well fed and pleased with their dining experience. But since neither occurred, it will be a long time, if ever, that we will return. read more

We tried Black Lantern tonight. It wasn't overly crowded and they had live music. Very cute place with a modern atmosphere. Food was average. The steak tips had no flavor other than charcoal. I really don't understand the 5 star reviews. The restaurant itself is beautiful and it has a great ambiance and the service is good but the actual food is mediocre at best. I've eaten here a dozen or so times since moving to Redbrook and I've yet to get a really good meal. Extremely overcooked burgers, short ribs that are tough as nails, flavorless seafood, meatballs and steak tips. I think I've tried most of the menu hoping it gets better but it never does. I've repeatedly left disappointed. I'll definitely keep coming here for a few glasses of wine because it's so close but I don't think I'll be ordering the food anymore. read more

I am not a person to leave negative reviews on anything, but my experience at Black Lantern Tavern was disappointing. We sat outside, and while the patio was beautiful, our service was honestly terrible. I have worked in the restaurant industry for years, and it seemed they did everything wrong. It took 10 minutes for our waitress to even approach us or take our drink order, and while we were there our waitress came to our table maybe 3 times (apart from the issue I will mention later). Our appetizer was served by a food runner who was surprised we hadn't been served silverware or plates yet, and our appetizer started to get cold because we had no silverware to eat it with. Our food was another issue- my partner ordered steak frites which was overcooked but she enjoyed nonetheless. I ordered chicken parm with ziti and received eggplant parm with linguine. It took a few minutes for a waitress to come out so I could inform her of the mistake, and then another few minutes for new food to be delivered. She informed us that was not the first time that happened even that night. I received my food after my partner had already finished. Our waitress offered no remedy, and I was very surprised nothing on the bill was taken off, not even a free app, drink, or dessert was offered despite having a consistently annoying experience. While the food was pretty good and our waitress was friendly, the service was disorganized and made our experience overall negative. Hope they can fix this in the future. read more
