Came in here for drinks only just to check it out as it has just opened. Drink selection was good (appears mostly the same as the back 40), service was pretty good. Décor is nice. They had a decent live band playing the night we went (a Friday night). I'll provide an update to my review next time I go for food. read more

I'm not going to knock this place down as they are fairly new. Good drinks, decent cocktail/wine list Service was good, spacing between apps and entrees perfect. I would definitely skip the pasta dishes as both ordered were just eh. The fish tacos were excellent as was the meatloaf (minus the huge chunks of garlic in potatoes) The fish and chips and the desserts looked great as we saw a few being served. Entertainment was a jazz trio . Kung pao chicken app was very good. Not a big fan of all the high tops , had more of a bar feel vs restaurant All in all a decent night out . read more

I was less than satisfied visiting this place last Saturday night- mostly disappointed with the change in menu- I ordered the turkey brie ciabatta which described a deep fried sliced turkey on ciabatta bread- I couldn't taste the Brie at all they should consider thin sliced pears instead of apple and heat the sandwich to melt the Brie ! Otherwise it was just a turkey sandwich. The cheeseburger pizza was Ike they threw on the ingredients and buried it in lettuce- less is more my suggestion Otherwise great local place I will return again as I have in the past but I will scrutinize the menu more! read more

I ordered take out tonight from this restaurant in Coventry. Simple order really - 3 Cobb Salads with dressing on the side. The gentleman answering the phone was nice enough with good customer service skills. When I arrived - it took nearly 10 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge me - there were only 6 people sitting at the bar - what's up with that? The take home bag came out and I took the food home. When arriving home I was pretty shocked by the appearance of the salads in the box. These are some sort of rectangular shaped waxy cardboard box. Traditionally - Cobb salads are not tossed. All the "fixins" are placed on top in an orderly manner to make the salad visually pleasing. Instead - when I opened up each salad - the were so jumbled that it looks like someone pre-tossed them or shook them up in some sort of cha-cha-cha dance in the back. The dressings in small containers had popped off and dressing was covering the greens and all the fixins. Three black plastic forks were tossed in for good measure. No napkins - no cellophane wrapping for good hygiene - nothing. For $45 I guess I expect too much - I expect a restaurant to plan appropriate carry out meals in containers that are suitable for the contents. I called the restaurant back and a woman answered the phone. I explained I was disappointed with the appearance of the salads - lack of napkins or knives - and just sloppy unappealing food. I was told that she was sorry but isn't responsible for the food once it leaves the restaurant. What? I asked is she was suggesting that I visually inspect the food before leaving and she said she didn't know. Incredible. These folks seem to think that since eating options are limited in Coventry that something is better than nothing. Very disappointing indeed. read more

Loved this place! My husband and I came for a late lunch/early dinner. We had the black cherry cider which was so refreshing for the hot summer day. We started with an order of the kung pao chicken bites. They were absolutely delicious and it was a HUGE serving! Definitely enough for 4! My husband got the Cali fried chicken sandwich on the ciabatta and I got a salmon burger. I opted to substitute my regular fries for truffle fries because of previous reviews and they did not disappoint! Everything came out hot and fresh. Paige our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Highly recommend you all check out this new place. read more

Worst service I've ever received. I'm in the business and they couldn't even handle 4tables on a Sunday with 4-5servers on. Our server took our order and disappeared...never came to check on us. We ordered apps and was going to get entrees but he just disappeared. Had to walk to the bar to get our check and pay for it. What we had for food was okay, nothing write home about. I probably will not return seeing as no server anywhere came over to check on us or see if we needed anything. Just like their sister restaurant B40...has gone downhill tremendously. I am impressed with the cocktails and the appetizer menus. Something for everyone and good sized portions. Wings were perfectly well done, truffle fries were hand cut and fresh with the perfect crunch and potatoey goodness expertly seasoned. Looking forward to going back for a meal!! I like this place. It's a neighborhood joint for me, just a two minute drive from my house and, for Coventry, it a nice change from the other options available in town. Casual, but more sophisticated food and drink compared to the usual places here. Friendly service, delicious food (though my hand cut fries were a little soggy). I would say it's slightly overpriced for what you get, but not too bad. Great mixed drink selection, though also a tad overpriced. I see they have a Sunday brunch which I'd like to try sometime. Never over-crowded, but hopping enough during dinner and bar time that it's a fun place to be. And my favorite part is that there's no pressure to eat and leave. The last two times I went I was catching up with friends after quite some time and we spent 2 hours or more just talking and nobody was hovering once we explained the situation. I hope they stay in Coventry, where LOTS of restaurants seem to come and go. read more

We were excited to try this place out after loving Lulu's in Allston. We ordered the nachos and sweet and sour wings. I don't prefer cheese sauce nachos so I didn't like them(it is their home made cheese sauce), but they are served with a heaping scoop of guac. I would have liked salsa on the side. The wings weren't crispy on the outside and the sauce was ok. My husband got the fried chicken BLT and I got the NE for chowder. We really wanted to like everything, but we were unfortunately underwhelmed. The ambiance and decor is awesome. There was also live music going on with great covers of 90's bands. read more

The dessert was likely homemade, and my friend said it was the best key lime pie she had ever had. Fries were handcut. The staff was very accommodating and let us do contactless curbside pickup. My wife and I went for the very first time the other night and I can happily say, the service was on point and the food was delicious. Friendly waitress, she was very attentive without being over barring. The food was also really good, the Cuban sandwich tasted authentic and the fish and chips was very fresh and flaky as it should be. If your looking for good service and food at a reasonably price this might be your spot. Now, no good review can go unsaid without the negatives. Being said, it was very off putting the waitstaff made we walk around the bar in order to use the restrooms, while I noticed they let other people cut through, that was a huge turnoff for me. The band playing was just okay, they may want to consider listening to them prior to booking them. We ordered the bang bang shrimp and there was a piece of chicken in the mix, it was good but, we ordered shrimp not chicken. The place itself is okay, kind of a "dive bar" local joint to best put it. Awful food. And bad service. Went there on Thursday night which is burger night. Supposedly $10 for burger and tall Narragansett. Even asked if the black bean burger for my wife was included - waitress said it was. Then it wasn't. Got the bill and was told some burgers were included, not the ones we asked about and ordered after we were told they were. Anyways, besides this, the food was dreadful. Clam Chowder was chunky and leftover from days ago. Black bean burger fell apart just looking at it. Fries were over cooked and old oil. The food is delicious! We ordered antipasto salad to share, which was great! I had 3 pork tacos & a pasta dish (now I can't remember which one) but it had tomatoes, spinach and chicken. I give this 3 stars and it's because although the food was good, we sat at the bar. Typically when you sit at the bar you're looking for a little social interaction. The bartenders were cordial enough, that's where it stopped. Never knew their names or anything other than do we want another drink. Had the bartenders been better this would have been my go to spot. Black Oak is very close to our house so we were eager to try. We honestly didn't have high hopes as we have been let down by other new restaurants in the area. However- we were so pleasantly surprised!!! We sat at the bar as we normally do, and service was exceptional. Bartenders were knowledgeable, friendly and prompt. We were also impressed with the food. We got buffalo wings which were perfectly cooked and seasoned! We also got nachos and a Back40 burger which were both great. The only feedback we had and it's minor, was- the fries were not cooked evenly...some were under and some over. But this is minor... we will definitely be back!!! read more
