We got an iced americano and an iced chai with almond milk and they also gave us a treat for the pup! The espresso shots were so smooth and sweet, the coffee wasn't bitter at all and we didn't even add sugar. Great job on the shots, thank you. The drinks and friendliness are much appreciated. Black Rock Coffee Bar is a new, shiny coffee place in the Lowe's parking lot. There is a cute seating area to the south, and a spacious drive-through. The building letter signage is nice, and the building lines clean and modern. Very hip. I chose to get a white mocha for J and an iced chai latte with almond milk for myself. At the last minute, I decided to try a few blueberry muffins as well. So I druve up to the squawk box. A recording tells me that they aren't using the mic today, so drive up. This seems to be why the line hasn't moved. Nothing is being made until after someone is already at the window. I wait forever, and finally get to the window. The gal at the window is super sweet. She takes my order and it comes out pretty quickly. The chai was pretty wimpy. It was like almond milk and ice with an essence of chai. J said that his white mocha was just ok. The blueberry muffins were moist (yes, I said it. Moist.), with a crumb topping that was to die for. I may visit here again, but to try something different. read more

Good coffee. Good people. Good vibes. Their drinks have always hit the spot. I got the mint chip chiller and chai chiller. My friend got the white chocolate mocha. My chillers tasted amazing; not heavy nor watered down. The white chocolate mocha tasted real. Starbucks has competition in town! Drinks are amazing every time, without fail! Unfortunately the reason I've decided to come leave a review is the food in the past I've ordered the breakfast burrito from here, it was so bland it tasted fake but I let it go and reminded myself that tends to happen in fast food. Today I ordered the ham and Swiss croissant, the second I put it up to my mouth to eat I got the biggest whiff of chemicals and burnt plastic, I didn't want to waste money so I did a small taste test and not to my surprise it tasted like chemicals !! I'm not sure if this is what it tastes like when packaged or if the location didn't clean the machine that heats up the food properly, but I do know food should never taste or smell as chemically as it did. read more

Black Rock is a hip and contemporary, clean, coffee shop. Feels very modern, orderly, and clean-cut with a contemporary rustic twist. The menu is straight-forward including premium portions for great coffee combinations. Coffee was excellent, and the chai chiller was flavorful and sweet but had hints of apple juice flavor more than a strong chai taste. Ambience is rather loud, but you can still talk easily, study, or catch up with that long lost friend you really were looking forward to seeing. Decided to get coffee this morning with a friend. She ordered and Iced Matcha Coconut Milk and I got a simple black cold brew. Iced Matcha Coconut Milk- had a really chalky texture, not sweet in comparison to what the girl said over the speaker. Was not blended, while sipping the drink she got chunks of matcha powder through the straw. Cold Brew- tasted old, bitter & oxidized. Had a very bad after taste. Tasted very burnt. We've heard lots of good reviews of Black Rock, but we were very appointed on our beverages. We ended up not drinking our drinks and going to another coffee shop down the street. read more

My Mexican mocha wasn't as strong as I like my coffee drinks but it had a great flavor! First time coming here so of course I'm going to browse the menu a while. Tip for workers: this is usually a good time to suggest your favorite drink or at least pick up on what the customer is craving. 1 Star for her service. 5 stars for the cleanliness and modern decor. I wish there were more places like this to study at when I was an undergrad. 3 stars for the disappointing coffee. Burnt beans marinated in overheated water then poured over ice. Black Rock is a new coffee bar. Menu is similar to the simplified version of the Starbucks approach but with some clear distinguishing items to set itself apart like Irish Coffee, Mexican Coffee.. etc. I chose the Chai Tea which was a good non-coffee drink made with less sugar than the sbucks rivals (which I liked) . The decor of the place sports a combo rustic/industrial groove of block beams of deep lacquered woods and high painted industrial piping. The seating is a combo of couches, big work tables and smaller two person talk-spots. It's a small shop, so not a ton of room for more than 20 people, but they do have a nicely covered outside seating area as well. This location also has a drive through that seems to run efficiently and reasonably. My first impression was good and I expect this will be a good alternative to sbucks, since its pricing was comparable and the experience was fast and friendly. read more

I was staying at the Hilton down the street and came across this little gem. I pulled up and immediately could hear classic rock hits playing outside and knew it would be a great place to chill for a bit. The best part was meeting Seth, Aly and Jessica! They were locals who were able to give me wonderful recommendations for food in the area and also were just really nice and professional. So thanks to you guys if you're reading this. The place was VERY clean (inside and out)! They have inside and outside seating. They are also pet friendly outside with water bowls out for them which was really nice. The espresso is a medium/light roast which was superb. Very nice spice to it and I also had the cold brew and it did not disappoint either. Over all I will give them 4 stars but after a couple more visits that may change to 5. This place would be awesome to come hang out solo or even with a group. This place has good coffee if you like a lot of fluff (sweet stuff). WARNING: Even though they have a perfectly good drive-thru where you can see the menu board and place your order, sometimes they tell you that you can't order at the board because they are taking orders at the window. This significantly delays the process. It's nice to place the order so they have it ready by the time you get to the window so you can pay and get on with your day. Instead, you pull up to the window, place the order, pay for it and then make awkward small-talk while you wait for them to make your coffee. I usually don't like to make eye-contact let alone make small-talk until after I've had my coffee. I definitely won't hit this place up when I'm in a hurry. Something to consider. read more
