Coffee is ok, on par with everyone else if you get the sugary drinks. Plain coffee is meh. Plan on waiting a while in the drive thru. If you're in a hurry this isn't the place to try to buzz through. Starbucks and DB have a much better sense of urgency. And once you're in the drive thru lane, you're stuck. There's no way out. Quick tip would be to have mobile ordering with curbside pick up or two actual drive they lanes with an easy exit and employees taking orders with an iPad and deliveries out to the cars to offset those with bigger orders. We usually all want coffee bright and early...and we are in a hurry. :) read more

If Dutch Bros and Starbucks had a cool older brother, this would be the brother! Just the right dose of funk and fun without the endless talk and still can make you feel like you belong there. I had a great barista for my fist time to let me ask my questions and no judgement on the receiving end. He was friendly and professional (kudos to him)! After a quick chat, I decided to get their popular choice of the Blondie but on the less sweet side, which made the drink just beyond perfect for me! Keep that in mind when you order the drinks there, you can get it less sweet-game changer! Well, let's just say after the first sip, I know that I will be making the drive out of my way to come and see them. In fact, I returned the next day and went big (I got their 32 oz) to save it for the next day and I got one to end my night with. Black Rock was the first place I ever had an almond milk cappuccino, and my only complaint is they raised the bar too high. All the other coffee shops tell me they can't foam almond milk, but somehow Black Rock nails it. And not only do they make great coffee, but they also have a wonderful atmosphere...all the baristas are so friendly! You can tell they all like working together, without feeling like they're ignoring you (I've been to some places where the baristas are more interested in each other than the customer). It was opening day for this particular location. They had a guy on the corner advertising free drinks all day! That being said, I stopped in at 6:10 am on my way to work, the drive thru line was way into the Lowe's parking lot and the inside was crowded. This was expected as it was opening day, with free drinks. Upon reviewing the menu I decided on the Caramel Blondie-which is caramel white mocha. This drink comes served hot or iced. I chose iced. It was a yummy, sweet pick me up to prepare me for my long work day. The decor is upscale funky, there are large glass windows and ample seating. The staff was upbeat and friendly. This week they have a lot of two for one deals, giveaways etc. I think the owner is smart for choosing this particular location. It will appeal to the early landscapers and contractors who frequent Lowe's and the people who go down Higley to the 60 on their way to and from work. Great thinking!! Location, Location, Location! Oh my, Black Rock Coffee Bar is by far the BEST coffee place in all of Arizona. I live in Oklahoma and I really hope one opens back home! My sister and I both tried the Caramel Blonde with an extra shot (to balance out the sweetness). She got it on ice and I got mine hot. It was so delicious, the best coffee I've had in a while. Waited 12 minutes in line since "they weren't using the speaker box" to be greeted by a very rude associate at the window. My credit card was rudely snatched from my hand and I did notice she never presented me with the screen for a signature or tip option. Once I was presented with my order I did say thank you however she may not have heard me so she proceeded to repeat "Your welcome" in a very passive aggressive manner 3 more times. Oops didn't mean to post review twice. I discovered Black Rock coffee about a month ago. This location just opened about 2 weeks ago and have been several times already. Black Rock coffee is WAY better than Starbucks and even better than Dutch Bros (which I love them too). Black Rock is now my coffee of choice. They have an amazing loyalty program. Having only gone for a month now, I've scored several free drinks. Today when on a trip to Lowe's with my boyfriend, we both excitedly stopped at Black Rock in the same parking lot first. We got BOTH of our drinks FREE and on accident they gave us a third drink free. Decided to take a nice little photo shoot of our drinks and post a great review about this place. They have a drink called "Fuel" which has tons of espressshots and WILL wake you up. All the coffees I've tasted have been very tasty (not burnt tasting like Starbucks). I highly recommend and I hope they keep opening more and more locations. read more

This place is my crack cocaine and most likely will be the death of me. I don't know what coffee you get but I highly recommend the "blackout" large iced with whip cream. Phenomenal! Came to this place on a lovely Sunday morning on my way home from a hike. The hike was outstanding. Really blasted my calves and quads. On the drive back home, developed a taste for some new coffee. Dunkin is obviously my go to because it's outstanding, but I had been meaning to try this place. They had a backed up drive thru, so I went inside. Was welcomed by an attractive hipster gal with tattoos and a nose ring. Not my look, but she warmed me up before I had even placed my order. As for the coffee, it's just ok. 4 stars. Went to Black Rock Coffee today because I honestly thought I had found a great new coffee stop. This was probably my 4th visit in a week and I have been buying 4-5 drinks per visit. Even though I have also experienced a variation in the way our drinks are made, up until today I enjoyed this place. Anyhow, being that my daughter and I work at 5am and couldn't stop by the shop in the morning and I had been thinking about the Fuel drinks all day I went out of my way to drive and go tonight. I had a simple request, and fully intended to pay the cost as if the drink was together. I asked to have my Fuel drink "deconstructed" so the ice wouldn't melt and the energy drink wouldn't loose its fizz by the morning. I thought this would work perfect ! I only wanted 1 cup with the syrup mix and the can of Fuel on the side , no ice. I was told that the manager said they cant do this?!?!? What? Really? Why! This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard? I wasn't asking for additional product and could have cared less what syrup was used in my drink! They also allow for you to buy the fuel drink separately. So this adds to the confusion of why couldn't they had made it like I asked? Honestly, This experience has definitely made me want to go elsewhere because honestly, they don't care about customer experience ! When you go to a coffee shop you should have the option to make it made to order, like any other coffee shop!
