Go to the Black Sheep Pizza and you will be happy! First, more than just pizza here. You can even order a steak. Many reviews mention the pesto and whipped feta - TO DIE FOR. Husband and I had garlic bread (comes with cheese) and this was no ordinary cheesy bread. Wonderful flavor with an accompaniment of the aforementioned pesto, feta and even a marinara. Ordered a standard sausage, mushroom onion pizza as we do this at all new Pizza restaurants for a fair comparison to our other favorites. Husband ranked this pizza as his new number one. I enjoyed, but the 'outside ' of the pizza was pretty light on toppings for my personal taste. Husband LOVES crust, me, not so much. Ordered Brussel sprouts so we could feel better about our carb heavy meal and these were top notch as well. Jessie, our server was on top of everything and a delight! Modern atmosphere and spotless. This part of Columbus was so charming. Brick roads, beautiful alleys, and white lights along the road. A cute little walk when we had to park two blocks down the street. We read good reviews and were looking forward to eating here when we arrived in the nicely-done restaurant. Very few people inside but more sitting on the patio area. We were there on a Saturday around 12:30. My husband ordered a chop salad and I got the lunch special, pizza and arugula. Our food did not arrive for more than 30 minutes with no explanation for the delay from our server. Food was good but disappointing customer service. read more

The pizzas and salads at this place were pretty good! I'm not a fru-fru pizza person- I want an old fashioned NYC slice that I can fold and chomp into. However, Black sheep was chosen by the family and it was a pleasant surprise. They had several pizza lunch specials and I got the veggie pizza with arugula salad. I asked what the veggies on the pizza were and was told zucchini. That was fine with me and it was still fine when the zucchini turned out to be eggplant! Another diner had the pepperoni pizza with arugula salad. In Both dishes, the arugula was on top of the pizza. (Fru-fru, right?) One diner had a Caesar salad, o e had a Greek salad and I don't recall the third, but, everyone enjoyed everything. The pizza at Black Sheep is phenomenal. Cooked perfectly. We had the Etna and the special pizza. Both were fantastic. In the past we've had their cocktails and they're also great. For the appetizer we got the spiedini it was delicious, the pesto was very flavorful. There's street parking available and the ambiance is nothing like we have in Columbus. My partner and I came by on a Sunday afternoon, to find this was one of the only restaurants open on a Sunday in the area. The ambiance is lovely inside, making a luxury feel with still a very casual and relaxed atmosphere. Our server was super nice and conversational, but I don't recall his name. He came by frequently to check on us and often shared about how the food was made and talked about how nice Columbus is. We agree! Foooood. Woooooooh! Starter - garlic bread. Comes with marinara, pesto, and whipped feta. The trifecta. Enough said. Main - pecora nera pizza. Pepperoni and pancetta topping. Yummmmmmmmmmmy. Dessert - lemon cream cake. As recommended by our server, we only missed the strawberry topping. However, I think it was great without it. Nicely lemony! Black Sheep was a great lunch experience. My family and I loved the decor - so many cool black sheep to look at, from the life size ones at the entrance to the lit up wall displays to the wallpaper in the bathrooms. We also happened to have great pizza and salads. My sister and dad got the Greek salad, which they both said was fabulous and looked great, with lots of fresh veggies. My mom and I got the lunch special, which was a pizza with arugula on top (and a drink too). She got the roasted veggie, which she liked a lot. I got the pepperoni, which was excellent. We both liked the incredibly flavorful cheese and fresh tomato sauce. I wish the crust had just a bit more salt, but it was pillowy and chewy and lovely overall. This restaurant has a good reputation but it ended up being even better than we were expecting. The general ambience of the restaurant is really nice. A lot of small details that restaurants don't think you will notice are actually taken care of here with care. They have very comfortable chairs, the layout and design of the restaurant is well thought out, and the service was great. The food was also especially good. The Rita is made just right in the Neapolitan tradition. The dough comes out soft, not crispy and overdone, and the crushed tomato sauce was flavorful. The steak piadina was full of flavor and the sauce really brought the steak, onions, red bell peppers, and fresh mozzarella together. The only thing I'd recommend is to mix in shredded Parmesan into the arugula salad before serving instead of just sprinkling on top. It would the perfect amount of flavor. read more

Pizza and their array of sauces for the breadsticks were so good. I would probably eat a piece of leather with their pesto. Food came out quick and was hot and ready. My girlfriend and I came here for a lunch on a day trip to Columbus. Upon arrival, we were seated quickly and promptly attended to for drinks and appetizers. We ordered the garlic bread and it was brought out pretty quickly. The bread was not what I had expected, instead it was more of a cheesy bread (but no complaints from me--I love my cheese!). Along with that, we were given three sauces to choose from: whipped fetta, pesto, and marinara. Our server, Joseph, recommended the whipped fetta and pesto and I whole-heartedly agree with that recommendation! The pesto was the best I've had (albeit in my limited experience) and the whipped fetta was just heavenly, especially on the crust of the bread! For the main course we went with the pecora nera pizza topped with pepperoni, slow cooked onions, mozzarella, and pancetta, served Neapolitan style! It was a very delicious pizza that was neither greasy nor burnt. It had the right level of crunchiness without crumbling, while also being juicy with toppings, but not being overly soggy. To top off the meal, our two dessert options were either tiramisu or a lemon style crème cake. We opted for the lemon crème cake since tiramisu is abundant in Italian restaurants and we wanted to branch out a bit. We made the right choice, as the cake was just the perfect amount of lemon to not be overly sweet or sour, but just perfect to satisfy my sweet tooth! Served chilled, the cake just melted right into your mouth giving way to a fantastic lemon cake flavor! Although the cake was meant to have a strawberry topping (they had ran out), I felt it was perfect just the way it was! Overall, Black Sheep has fantastic food nestled in downtown Columbus just steps away from Mill Race Park that offered a casual but elegant dining experience. This has become our favorite restaurant for a date night in Columbus. Everything we have tried has been fabulous. Definitely recommend getting the garlic bread and meatballs as an appetizer. We had a wonderful dinner at their bourbon tasting night. The meal was as good as any dinner I have had at premium restaurants in Indy and honestly around the world! Wow! Was in town last week to visit my parents and I had to check out the newish spot at the commons mall. First off, the ambience and feel of the restaurant was on point. We were greeted by Jenna. She had such an inviting smile, and ended up being our server. She was knowledgeable about the wines and what we should pair with our meal. I personally had to stick to the dragonfly IPA of course. I wish we had Upland in Phoenix. We ended up getting the Lolli-chops(4 lamb chops over a bed of whipped feta and pesto, served with focaccia). The pecora nera pizza( thick pancetta, pepperoni, sautéed onions and fresh mozzarella). Finally we decided on the porkchop. The Lolli-chops were seasoned and cooked to perfection. I couldn't stop dipping the focaccia and my pizza into the pesto and whipped feta. Soo damn good. Then the pizza, it was a light airy thin crust that I couldn't put down. I let my wife have A piece and I demolished the rest. I wish I would have saved more room for the porkchop as i only took a bite or two but that smokey flavor was amazin and damn near fell off the bone. I asked for the manager because I had to compliment the food, the service(I suggest asking for Jenna) and the overall feel of the restaurant. His name was Mike and I thought he was one of the chefs as i saw him on the line because he greeted us as we walked in. Extremely nice guy and he appreciated the feedback. We sat at the bar, which is fairly small, so it's not like he didn't see us. Got us drinks fairly quickly. Mine was meh. Friend's was great. Asked for water twice; he said sure thing both times but never got it. Dude was literally four feet away. He was fairly busy making drinks for the tables, but still. We had to ask someone else. Great vibe in this restaurant, and it came recommended to me. I was very excited to try a pizza with pistachios on it, as it was a new combination I hadn't thought of. Unfortunately, all the flavors / toppings were concentrated at the very center of the pizza, but then the whole outer ring was really quite bland. My Old Fashioned was very strong, so that was a bonus. Service was honestly atrocious. We were encouraged to sit at the bar, as it is "full service". However the three bartenders/servers behind the bar just reallllly did not want to sell us things. lol.
