The Cod used in the Fish was fresh and the batter held up even after being doused in malt vinegar. Truly tasty. The chips were just okay; the only disappointment with our meal. The lamb shank, which was one of 'Today's Specials' was cooked perfectly, both tender and moist. It was accompanied by mashed potatoes, peas and a roll. GMT New Years at the Black Watch Pub is an annual tradition for my friends and myself. It's a friendly, comfortable atmosphere and we can celebrate and be home and safe by 7:00 pm before the crazies come out. The band Paddy's Pig plays every year. They are a fun band that specializes in Irish music. The owners distribute funny hats, noise maker and free champagne to make it a real New Years blow out. The food is standard pub grub. I got the chili cheese fries with onions and it was excellent. But, the chili dog was subpar, I am a chili dog aficionado so I have very high standards for chilli dogs. My wife and friends got the sausage rolls and homemade potato chips and loved them. Another friend ordered the shepherd's pie and scarfed it like a man dying of starvation. The food service can be slow but this is a pub and not a 5-star dining experience. We have always enjoyed the food here. There is the standard assortment of beer and ciders so everyone in our group found something tasty to drink. The Black Watch is like the girl next door in a summer dress and a pimple on her chin. Been coming here regularly on Friday for a few months. Everything I have tried on the menu is really good. I really enjoy the shepherds pie. Service is top notch, food is great, beer is cold and the price is right. What more could you ask for? AMERICANS ONLY PUB? I have tried to go to Blackwatch two times. Both times I have had a negative experience. The staff is extremely impolite and xenophobic. Last night, I tried to enter the pub and was asked to show my ID. I only had a VALID international ID on me. The lady who asked me to see my ID was extremely rude. Upon showing her my ID she told me that she "only accepts American IDs or American passports." I proceeded to ask her how people who are NOT American passport holders could enter the pub. In response, she got extremely aggravated and told me I was "not legally allowed to be there" and that I needed to leave. Despicable & discriminatory behavior. read more

I love this spot! Dynamite place to watch a daytime footie game. Haven't ever been in the evening for a traditional night-out, but I love the vibe. All the clientele are downright lovely, friendly, and effortlessly conversational. Great camaraderie. Cute spot, objectively clean for a pub, with lots of fun bar activites like a jukebox and darts. Large space too, so would be great for a rowdy meet-up with a big chunk of chums. Food is very traditional british fare, and unfortunately, not the *greatest* execution I've run into in my travels, but the bartenders are 5/5 exceptional, so sweet and friendly, that it far and away compensates. Hadn't been here before. First time tonight. Fun place. I like the vibe. Lot's of tap beer choices (including local beers), attractive female bartenders, good band (RCR Band) is playing right now, cool vibe here, what's not to like. I'll come back more often! I can't comment on the food. I didn't have any. Just had beer but other people's food around me looked pretty decent. Apparently fish and chips is their thing (it is an English pub after all). I will have to try that next time. Most people don't ever comment about this part.... but I do and will. The parking situation here is fantastic. I purposely avoid crowded places and nothing really pisses me off more than having to compete for a parking spot! If you want me to come to your establishment, it had better have lots of free parking available. The Black Watch Pub has excellent parking. Wow, where do I begin! Everything was sanitized very well and clean! Amber our waitress had the most radiant personality ever. Full of enthusiasm and very cheerful. Constantly came back and check if our family was doing well and needed anything. Amber is so full of light. I hope when we come back that we are serviced by amber again! Visited on Saturday after remembering it used to a good spot. I arrived about 6. Intending to hangout, eat some dinner and have drinks with a friend and watch the Dodger game. Walked in to see maybe 6 people at the bar. Sat at the end otlf the bar abd was given a look by the female bartender. Waited about 5 more minutes as she counted cash. She never looked up or behind her. Once done she started helping who I would assume are regulars. 14 minutes after Uber dropped me off she went in the back. Smiled at me as she passed. I walked around saw pool tables etc. Went back to the bar. She passed again and back to.thr register for another 2 min at the register and back to the customers. Time to go! First and foremost, let me point out that this is a drinker's bar, definitely catering to the locals and focusing on hard liquor and run of the mill beer. Though the live music was great, the service was slow (although friendly) and the food was definitely not worthy of the British flags outside. My GF and I travel a lot and like to try and find local restaurants with international flavors. We originally ordered the Scotch Pie and the Steak and Mushroom Pie. It was only after 20 minutes that a cook came to our table to inform us they didn't have the ingredients for the Steak and Mushroom Pie. No big deal, I ordered the bangers and mash instead as my GF and I wanted to stick as close to a British menu as possible. As I mentioned, the food was just OK. It was definitely reasonably priced, but compared to other British Pubs, this isn't really a place to grab a traditional British meal. If you're looking for a place to watch soccer or throw back a few Guinness, this place definitely won't disappoint, but it's just not authentic British pub fare. read more

We had gone to a street festival and there was a food stand selling Scotch eggs. But they weren't ready. So I helped our way to this establishment. It was not busy at all (after 1pm) so we didn't need to wait. My hubby ordered his scotch eggs which I tried. Never had them. So glad I did. They were amazing! We've lived in town for 12 years and this is the first time we actually went in rather than talking over and over about going in. Have we been missing out! Absolutely delicious authentic food, and great service. Even though the bar was busy, we never felt unattended at our table. I would call this a little hole in the wall bar. It's not in the most obvious spot but it still gets a lot of customers. A decent menu! I got a bit of a country vibe or a bar you would walk into if you went up into the mountains. Rachel greeted & served us right away. I ordered chicken strips which were made with 100% chicken. My girlfriend got a breakfast combo, sausage & over easy eggs. The one thing I was have to complain about but it really didn't bother me too much was the fact that when you enter this restaurant, right away you smell grease. That being the case, I completely understand (but wish the bartender would have told me so I wouldn't have to write this update....lol).
