I was visiting from out of town and within walking distance of this place. I ordered a chicken, bacon, ranch pizza on the cauliflower crust to go. The employee that took my call and gave me my pizza was a really, nice guy. Cauliflower crust is always a gamble but this was really good! The texture was great and it held up under the toppings. Overall I was glad I took a chance here. Once I got there I realized they had a large, nice outdoor seating area. I suspect I probably could have taken my dogs there and eaten the pizza outside. I had the Pale ale very smooth and crisp and hubby had the Sunset ale which was bright and fruity. Food was decent, typical American. We had cheesy breadsticks which was basically a cheese pizza cut up into strips served with a side of cold marinara. Caesar salad was decent, it wasn't mixed, dressing & cheese just on top. Italian stack was good and what you would expect, not bad and not exceptional. Hot honey pepperoni pizza was a special. Thin chewy crust, thin layer of cheese & pepperoni. Stopped here to watch a Mariner's game after a long day of trudging through the forest. This was actually the THIRD place we had gone that evening, because every where we stopped, they were either OUT of Chardonnay (or any white wine for that matter), or they just didn't stock it. Blackbeards had Chardonnay so we grabbed two seats and settled in. Because it's a small place and we weren't the only fans looking to catch the game, it was pretty crowded and boisterous. But, that was to be expected, right? We did decide to order food; went with an order of wings and it turned out they were quite good. We also ordered a basket of fries, but just plain, not loaded or covered in anything. Fries were hot, crispy and BOY were there a lot of them! I liked the ambiance. Kind of a real pirate bar kind of place where all the beer taps were pirates. Staff was friendly and attentive, even as busy as it was. Next time I'll come when it's quieter but maybe grab a pizza. We came here a few years ago while staying in Westport, so stopped in again for takeout to the condo we stayed at on the beach. Small place for eating in, so be prepared to wait for a table in summer...or get there early. Ordered up a four beer taster flight of small pours ($10) to check out their offerings and determine which one we wanted to fill our jug with. We felt the Porter was their best. Ordered their 16" Green Everything Pizza ($27) to go; pesto sauce, grilled chicken, spinach, artichokes, green peppers and mozzarella. Toppings were great; they don't skimp. But the crust didn't do much for me; thin, which is O.K., but tough and chewy...possibly overworked and in need of more yeast. Had one of their giant warm soft pretzels ($13.50) while we waited for our pizza. Served with beer cheese and grain mustard for dipping...excellent! Ended up taking half the pretzel with us. We visited Blackbeard's Brewing on July 7th, after setting up camp at the state park. No one wanted to cook and decided to give them another try (went back in November of 2024), and glad we did. One granddaughter and I tried the "Just the Single" smash burger, my son the "Fire in the Hole" and my other granddaughter got the child's grilled cheese. My burger was loaded with fresh tomato, lettuce, onion and a huge burger that was larger than the soft bun. The burger was made exactly how I asked and just enough special sauce to give it the extra blend of mouth watering deliciousness. My granddaughter said the same thing. My son's burger had two 1/4 lb patties, habanero jack cheese, sauteed jalapenos, lettuce, onion, tomato and special sauce. He couldn't eat it all. He said it was the perfect blend of "hot" and tasted really good. His only complaint, he said no onion, but they put onion on. My other granddaughter was happy with her grilled cheese. All came with beer battered fries that were scrumptious. There is so much to these burgers and fries, you could share a meal and come out full and happy. read more

We were nearby at the winery/distillery and one of the people suggested this place to us. I'm glad they did. We stopped in on a weds evening and it was moderately busy. I had the pizzandwich and my wife had pizza. The spicy cheese curds were also delicious. Service was really good, especially given the line in such a small shop. We sat outside. It was great being out in the open air on such a beautiful day. The beer was quite good, but nothing really stood out. I had a porter and took a can of the strawberry blonde with me. On a recent family trip to Westport, we decided to check out Blackbeard's Brewing for lunch. We love trying out local breweries/wineries when we're on "staycations" and Blackbeard's was a fantastic option. Service was great. Order at the counter and food is brought to you. They were quick and kind so all good things in that aspect. Our table shared an assortment of things. My kids shared a cheese pizza, and we also ordered cheese sticks, an Italian Stack, and a few other items. Everybody had a general consensus that the food was great! My fiancé and I split the Italian Stack and we loved it. We're suckers for any type of Italian sandwich and this one hit the spot perfectly. We also started with the fried pickle appetizer which was bomb. I love when the fried pickles are the chip style pickles and they do that here - SO good and the breading was perfect. Not too oily and had a great texture. I got one of their IPAs and wasn't exactly blown away, but it was good. They also had an assortment of ciders and wines (and maybe seltzers?) which was much appreciated for the non-beer drinkers in the group. My dad got their strawberry blonde ale which was actually REALLY good - the strawberry taste is definitely prominent and it was really refreshing! The weather was nice so we sat out on their patio space and it was the perfect lunch set up. They are dog friendly outside so my dad had his dog relaxing with us too - they provide water bowls. Love that they are also kid-friendly because this was the perfect spot for the kids to enjoy something we knew they'd eat without any resistance, and for us to have a couple of drinks before heading back to our VRBO. There's not a lot going on in Westport (IYKYK), so Blackbeard's is definitely one of the best, if not the best, option for lunch while you're in the area. One time I got the pizza (to go staying 5min away) and the box was wet on the bottom because there was so much moisture from the pizza. So wet, there was a pizza puddle when I moved it. I knew something was off because the pizza was way heavier than I would expect. Bottom line, I think it depends on who is making it. And taking the order. I get pizza for the kids and it's only two toppings which they have screwed up at least three times. Why do I still go here? Also the beer I terrible. Really bad. Thank God for Blackbeard's Brewing. My husband and I were FIENDING for a drink, particularly from a craft brewery. I honestly didn't think this tiny town would come thru, so I was stoked when it showed up on Yelp. Also, it's basically in the middle of the residential area, so you can just walk to it if your staying near. My husband tried the Ghostship IPA (ABV. 6.5% IBU 40) and I got the holiday special, Cranberry Mead (Abv. 7.7%). I enjoyed my drink a lot, I found it floral and clean, and the cranberry wasn't overwhelming. For food we shared Blackbeard's Signature (red sauce, pepperoni, ham, sausage, olives, mushrooms and mozzarella, $18.00) with cauliflower crust ($1.00). HOLY YUM! We polished off the entire pie in 10 minutes without hesitation. This was some of the best cauliflower crust I've ever had. Everything used was very fresh and used generously. It's no wonder why this place is so popular. I would definitely recommend you to visit if you're ever in this cute lil coastal town! read more

This place is perfectly set up for the pandemic. You wait in line to place your order and they give you your beer right there and a beeper for your food. There's a small amount of indoor seating and a large amount of outdoor seating, some of it covered and heated, all very cute. They've got a great selection of beer on tap, including seltzer and a a few guest taps of seltzer. I had the ghostship IPA which was great - bitter but not too bitter, and very drinkable. I ordered a pizza and brownie to go, both packaged very well, including putting the cold ice cream in a different box than the hot brownie, which was much appreciated. The pizza was really good - we got the Hawaiian bbq chicken without bacon - a crisp crust, enough toppings to seem plentiful without getting soggy, and a sweet and salty flavor. We were excited to eat outdoors with our toddler, and how can anyone not like pizza? We ordered full tsunami and chicken bacon ranch pizza, the full tsunami comes with the works of all the toppings from pepperoni to onions olives sausages. So good, the crust is thin, sauce is savory, and all is wonderful. We ordered a basket of fries for my toddler, and they were amazing as well. We were in a Westport on vacation and stopped in for a bite to eat. There was 8 of us and we like to eat "family style" so we ordered a bit of everything to share. It's seat yourself situation and we initially sat outside but it was a little too cold so we moved inside. There are picnic tables and 4 top tables and chairs outside. There in minimal seating inside. You have to go up to the bar to order (drinks and food), and you have to grab your own menu. Once you go to the bar and order then you grab your own plates and silverware at their self serve station. The food was all delicious, we had no complaints. It's a cute fun brewery with fun outdoor seating options. They only had one big table inside that was reserved for parties of 6 or more. The staff was nice and friendly. The Blackbeard's we all know and love has expanded! I've been so excited to see what Ryan and Katy cooked up knowing they had this space behind their other expansion, Green Monster Coffee. As of recently, you will find the beer, wine and root beer that they make at their flagship location (you know you've arrived when you have a 'flagship' location!). The food offerings are simple but sure to please with a range of burgers (including chicken a plant-based option, and gluten-free buns), burritos and street tacos with fresh caught local fish, pulled pork, chicken and carne asada. OH I almost forgot the burgers come with Blackbeard's delicious beer battered fries! My faves are the Smokehouse Bacon Deluxe burger (literally everything you could want including caramelized onions!) and fish tacos. The location is perfect as it's literally at the Marina on the corner of Westhaven and Harbor with street parking. Restaurant is clean, inviting and family friendly and they have outdoor seating! TERRIBLE. No good. Very bad food. We went as a party of 4 and 3 of us were very dissatisfied and the 4th (who got a pulled pork sandwich) thought his was just ok. The other three of us got Caesar salad, Caesar salad wrap and the Asian salad. The "grilled" chicken was difficult to identify as anything other than microwaved partially still frozen from a bag. Croutons, while not frozen, were just as meh. The beers were awful, tasted soapy. The cranberry cider was better. Maybe our mistake was not getting pizza, but it was overall frustrating and annoying. Ohhh was I glad I stopped and picked up a growler here when staying in Westport! Pretty cool they offer 32 oz growlers in addition to their 64 oz ones. This spot is straightforward with their beer options and I settled for their amber. I was not disappointed at all and ended up going back the next day for a refill! Super easy to locate and parking was a breeze. Was greeted right away and walked out with a filled up growler. Not much more I could ask for here! Crowler's, growler's and other Blackbeard paraphernalia is available for purchase. Happy Hour is offered Monday-Friday from 2pm-5pm. Wine and hard cider is offered for those who do not care for beer. I slurped on a pint of Ghost Ship IPA for $5.52 (hh). Not my favorite IPA. My bestie and I snacked on a basket of Cheesy Bread-sticks for $5 (hh). The bread-sticks were generous, hot, cheesy and garlicky. Very appetizing. The marinara was a bit bland for my taste. Overall, I would stop into Blackbeard again when in the area. Having just a few choices sometimes means sacrificing quality/flavor. This isn't the case with Blackbeard's. We ordered a veggie pie and giant pretzel & boy oh boy, we ordered RIGHT. The pretzel with beer cheese was chewy & rich, the cheese sauce pungent & savory, redolent of beer. I normally love thick crust but the thin crust on this pie was outstanding-crispy, full of flavor & nearly perfect. They don't skimp on toppings & the 16 inch pie left enough for lunch.
