Stopped in this popular local bar while staying in Grayland beach rental. Some friends stopped by so we went here seeing on Yelp they had several great options. We ordered the breasted fried chicken and steamed clams plus fries and clam chowder. Everything was tasty. The clams were good but for $22 they were really tiny and didn't seem like a pound but enjoyed. Fries are krinkle cut, not our favorite but ok, clam chowder good but potato's needed smaller cut and prefer creamier but good flavor. The chicken was the hit, crispy skin juicy tender meat. I could have had another thigh, sooo good. Service friendly, it was a Tuesday evening so it got really busy for Bingo that starts at 6:30. read more

Been here quite a few times - always spend time at the Local when I visit Grayland. Everyone is friendly and the food is good. Stopped in recently and saw they have all new comfy chairs, barstools, and carpet which looks really nice. We had the oyster burger with macaroni salad that was excellent and I had the local shrimp salad which was wonderful. read more

We were staying at Grayland Beach State Park and visited the Local Bar & Grill twice. Our server the second time, Madison, was so kind. She helped me learn how to play the Punchboard games they have for food prizes, answered all my questions. Also the food here is amazing. The first night we had chicken gizzards and a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. The second visit a taco salad and their "Local Burger". It was all perfectly cooked. Stopped for fresh dipped fish and at 5 pm they were all out . This is the Friday special but must only have enough fish for possibly five customers . I had a cheeseburger and a side salad. Burger was pretty good, salad was really lame. Probably should have just went with fries or tots. My boyfriend had the special which was fish and chips with a cup of chowder for $15.99. What a good deal. Although it looked pretty basic, he really liked it and ate everything on the plate. Service was very slow but it was a Friday evening and the place was really busy. Although the server was nice enough, the clientele here was a little rough. Everyone seemed to know each other so we were the obvious out of towners and since we weren't in MAGA shirts, we didn't really fit in. We have been to the Local many times when we have visited Grayland always had a great experience and good food. Not really sure if the restaurant changed hands or if their staff just doesn't care about service. But something has changed. We got to the restaurant around 7pm on a Wednesday, nice crowd but not busy. We sat down and our server buzzed by us with menus. 10 minutes later she came by for a drink order. Once the drinks came she took our order. Pretty standard fare nothing special. Over an hour later we still had not received our food. She only came by once to ask if we wanted another drink and never came by to mention that our food would be delayed. Just for perspective, our daughter drove from Aberdeen, went to Aloha Alabama, ate there and drove to Grayland before we paid our bill for drinks and left. We along with another patron had the same experience. He left when we did. I asked when our food would be ready and was told 2 more minutes, 10 minutes later we were done. When I said we wanted our bill we were told they could box up our food to go. No thank you. We left. Won't be back! If enough people don't come back the Local will close. I know tourists suck but they help the local economy. read more

Abysmal experience. The word, "Sorry" was repeated throughout where explained to my family was the fact that the cook was injured and had a fill-in. While getting our order wrong we then had to wait until my sisters sliders were made as they did not make it to the to-go bag. So while waiting around the rest of the food got cold, with "sorry...sorry....sorry..." being repeated ad nausea which didn't make the experience any better. Finally when the food was brought back to our vacation home, that was en it went from bad to worse, here's a brief list: 1. My Mom's burger dip was bland, the juice (which should be the best part!) was tasteless. 2. My Dad's fish and chips as well as his seafood medley were just haphazardly thrown together. 3. My burger was nuked beyond all recognition with everything that makes The Local burger good was missing as it was cold and frankly, unappetizing. 4. My sister slider was the only good thing out of it-still hot as well as her fries as well. With an experience like that, and the reluctance at first to accept a discount instead of trying to charge us full price, it will be a long time before we visit Local's again. read more

The place can get rally busy on weekends when games are on, but, there always seems to be room for a few more to squeeze in. We were camping nearby at Grayland beach SP & found this place for lunch. Very convenient location! Service was great. Ambiance was good and had several locals (ya think?) also getting lunch there. 21 & over, so no kids which works for us. Food was just ok. We shared an order of battered & fried oysters with fries. The fries were great, the batter on the oysters was way too thick and bready - not my style. We'll be back, but will order something different. read more
