Would not recommend…read more We hired them for weekly pool service and kept them for around 8 months before they 'quit' due to me calling them out for unprofessionalism. Specifically, I have security cameras on my driveway and pool so could see when they would come to service the pool. Many service visits would be less than 10 minutes. A couple months in to the service relationship, we experienced our first no-call-no-show. We received no email about the missed visit and so I inquired and asked for a refund for the missed week. They gave me a refund for that week. Then a few months later, it happened again. No email telling me why the visit was missed. I emailed them saying that it was unprofressional and I shouldn't have to be micro-managing, checking every week whether the service was done, and I expected a refund again for the missed week. The owner replied in a very defensive way, implying I had not read the service agreement sufficiently ... "As clearly stated in the agreement, our company observes four scheduled holidays, during which regular service does not occur. December 30 falls within that holiday period, so no service was scheduled for that week." However, after re-reading the agreement, it stated that the week of Christmas was one of the holiday weeks, and Dec 30 did not fall on that week. So the owner was flat out wrong about this. They also said that I "received at least two additional service visits beyond what is contractually included, at no charge ... those visits were provided as a courtesy" which not a reasonable excuse for missing a visit without notice. Ultimately, they stated "No services were missed that fall outside the terms of the contract, and no refund is due for the week in question" which is a false assertion. When I questioned the two courtesy visits (which I had not recorded myself), they stated one of them was "An additional service visit in July, resulting in five total visits that month." The service agreement clearly stated that I (the client) pay monthly, and the service we receive is weekly visits. So this "courtesy" visit was not actually a courtesy visit at all. It was an expectation. Finally they stated "to bring this service relationship to a clear and orderly conclusion, we will schedule your final service visit for [...]" which was a "you can't fire me because I quit!" way of handling it all. Rather than apologize to the customer for a missed visit, they: - got defensive and tried to imply I hadn't read the terms of my agreement - made false assertions Unprofessional and dishonest. Edit: The owner already replied to this review in the same tone used in the emails ... "your pool was consistently maintained in accordance with that agreement" ... it's almost as if they've been to small claims court before and now choose their words carefully to never imply wrongdoing. As it stands, I never received a service visit the week *after* Christmas even though I should have per the service agreement. Just know that if you hire this company, your experience will not be hands off.

I've had no major issues with his service and his technicians have always acted in a professional manner. I've had to call him several times with some sort of pool related emergency and he has always responded back in a timely manner and showed up to fix the problems accordingly. Especially, after the ice storm back in 2021 where our pool took a beating due to the electricity being out for a week. He and one of his technicians showed up as soon as we got electricity back and triaged the problems and gave us a fair quote to fix them. Now, there have been some growing pains as the company has grown over the years, but I won't ding them on that too harshly. All in all, I have enjoyed Southern Pool & Spa.

Both Mike and Jody were an awesome tandem who took all of the normal anxiety out of build process. With zero weather delays, the pool was operational in less than 2 mos. I worked with them for close to a year and had to ask them almost monthly to find a new person to clean our pool. The kids they hire just do not understand how cleaning pools work, and the owners, who were very nice, would agree that it is 'hard to find good work these days'. For example, the pool cleaners would constantly brush the pool before vacuuming then the dirt would settle back in. The pool floor was always left dirty. I even would go out and speak with them to no avail. I can see them on the cameras doing it this way which was always so frustrating. Additionally, more often than not, they would neglect to leave chlorine in the bowl. No less than 5 times did I find the chlorine tablet sitting on top of the basket, which caused algae to grow The only reason I did not fire them sooner was because one of the pool cleaners had chipped tiles in our hot tub and the company promised to fix it. It took many, many, many months for them to finally fix the tiles which is appreciated (and why they are rated two stars instead of one). Ultimately, I hate to leave a negative review but this was very warranted. Do not use them for your service, especially if you are very passionate about a clean pool.
