Recommended me front steer tires for my rig. Six months later had to replace them for uneven wear on the inside and outside thread on driver and pass side. Took the truck to a front end specialist and said the tires that Black's sold me and installed were out of balance and to light duty for my semi. Never again. read more

I needed front brakes fixed on my 2019 VW Atlas. I went too long on them so it was metal on metal causing me to have to replace the rotors and pads. Danny Phillips was super professional and ultra accommodating being it was a Saturday and had limited time and mechanics on site. He was able to get me in and get my brakes fixed and get me on my way in a short period of time he was as friendly as people possibly come. I would recommend him and for sure. I ordered a new brand of tires they didn't carry and had them shipped directly to their shop. I was treated as if I purchased from them, they fit me in right away, to include my asking them for an alignment and oil change. They had difficulty finding an oil filter and made at least five calls to find me one. Customer service was top notch as everyone was super friendly and professional. Above and beyond treatment!! They do what they say and give you a ride to work if you need it. They quote and hit their estimate. But here's where they stand out: This fall I went to the auto-parts store to get a headlight bulb for the wife's ("hoity-toity", a technical term) Lexus. The auto parts store told me it was a special bulb about $100!!! So I held off. Well she gets a ticket because her inspection is overdue, so we take it to Blacks fearing the worst - the inspection cost plus a $100 bulb install. Well, guess what - they did the inspect, added the bulb and it cost us $41 total. Basically these guys saved me about $95 because they had a lock on where to get a normal bulb, not a "Lexus" label bulb. Suspicious, I was, so we did the whole light check thing and it works like a charm. Thanks Blacks! read more

It was my first time using Black's and let me just start by saying WOW! I did not have an appointment and needed to get an inspection right away. Once I arrived, I was quick to notice how clean and organized the parking lot was. However, once I went inside, it was even better! Very clean, open and a comfortable space. Went to the location at Market St. first and they did not have the tire I needed. The gentleman there directed us to the Castle Hayne location and they were extremely helpful replacing a blown tire from my RV. I called and asked to get new tires on my new rims that have been painted black and they said they could install the tires without messing up the rims and I was quoted 50 dollars but afterwards all 4 rims were terribly scratched all up and I was charged more than double. I worked extremely hard on my rims and they ruined them. I would stay away from blacks tire shops they don't care and just want you in and out to get to the next customer. read more

I had my tires replaced here and had a pretty decent experience. The staff don't kiss your butt but they still very much act profesionally and treat you like a valued customer. I waited for about 45 minutes to an hour and in my opinion that's pretty reasonable. Overall with my experience at this shop, it's pretty good. I can't complain at all. We waited on 2 new tires for 2 hours, yes, 2 hours. Scott did tell us they didn't have them in stock there but they have a guy that brings them from one of the other Black's Tire in Wilmington. He did not tell us it would take 2 hours. There was only 3 people sitting in the waiting room, plenty of workers walking around in the bays, and about 5/6 hanging behind the counter chatting amongst themselves. After about 1 hour, I asked which store was the tires coming from, Scott said Carolina Beach Road which is not 1 hour away, maybe at the most 20 minutes driving time, and did call the guy to see where he was. This place should really give a course on customer service as their communication skills are only limited to chatting with their co workers and hanging out behind the counter. I have not been to this Black's in years but did remember it being efficient and productive. This visit to Black's Tire, Castle Hayne Rd, was so bad that I would not recommend it to anyone I know or will I ever go back. read more
