I feel like blacksmiths is the only new wave coffee shop in Long Beach. Luckily, being the only one in the game means that you get all of the market. Even though they could easily do a mid-level job and a capitalize on the market, they still do a great job with their coffee and their food. Prices are a little bit higher than other spots have been to being in Long Beach, it is expected. They do have a cool rewards program where if you bring your card, every coffee gets stamped and your 10th one is free. Since my girlfriend lives in Long Beach and I constantly go over her place, blacksmiths is almost a staple for us.

I've came to blacksmiths many times for coffee and bakery items, but today was my first time having an actual breakfast. The breakfast quesadilla was pretty good and a big portion size in my opinion. I always love getting the maple brown sugar latte! Overall blacksmiths is delicious with friendly staff, but a little pricey in my opinion - which is why I only come here once in a while. Would recommend!

Breakfast or a light brunch is always a delight here. The coffee never wavers from being unique and strong. It is not Dunkin fast but the service is always kind and of the highest quality. A quaint shop that holds on to some favorites but is always trying out new things. A weekend staple for me.

This place is perfect in every way. Service is super friendly, coffee is fantastic, food is also fantastic, and it feels so cozy inside. It is my sanctuary when I'm visiting my mom in the cold winter months in Long Beach. I am an espresso lover and I've tried every coffee place that has decent reviews almost everywhere I go. This place is unreal. Always great coffee every time. Their bowls are super healthy and delicious as well or go for the breakfast burrito if you need a hangover cure. Not a ton of seating but I usually take everything to go so it's not a problem for me. If you go on the weekends it gets very busy so I'd recommend going early (or not getting food bc that can take a bit long if it's crowded). I usually will get a cortado but I always describe how much milk I want bc sometimes it is too much. They are always so incredibly sweet in there though and are happy to fix any drink. Love this place and recommend for any coffee lover!

So glad I stumbled across the gem! My friend lives close to be here so whenever I'm there I always make sure to grab breakfast and coffee here. For starters the service is impeccable. The staff is extremely friendly and greets you when you come in. When you have your food/coffee they always ask how it is which isn't common for employees to check up on you in a cafe ! For the food, everything tastes so fresh! So far I've had the egg a sandwich on an English muffin (you can also get it on a brioche roll of sorts) and it was fantastic! The bread was flaky and soft while the eggs tasted like they were right off the farm. I also had the financier which is IMPECCABLE. They put some type of sweet buttercream icing on top that adds a nice touch. Although I haven't had anything else here I just know based off what I ate the ingredients are high quality. The coffee always tastes great as well and they have several non dairy milk options! I go with the oat milk and you can't taste the difference! Highly recommend this place.

Great little cafe! Found this randomly on yelp and it didn't disappoint. We had the grilled cheese and the brioche breakfast sandwich. We then shared a chocolate croissant. All of them delicious. The brioche bread was WONDERFUL. Looks like the place is a hub for locals buying bread and coffee. The place had a line at noon and a few tables so it might be better to buy stuff to go.

A hot delicious latte with a view!!

My first impression was just how big it is! There are multiple levels of seating and a large bar, giving it a lively atmosphere. I was honestly surprised to see how busy it was on a weekday morning, but that only got me more excited, it usually means a place has built a loyal following for a good reason. With only two stomachs to work with, we wanted to try as much as possible. We ordered eggs over medium with bacon, home fries, and toast, a short stack of pancakes with sausage, and biscuits and gravy. I'll just say it, this place knows how to make breakfast. Everything we ordered was done really well, and I honestly don't have many notes. The biscuits and gravy were excellent. The gravy was rich and flavorful, and the biscuit was soft, buttery, and the perfect pairing. I'm not usually a pancake person, but these were fantastic. Add some real maple syrup and a bite of sausage, and it was the perfect combination. I also can't finish this review without mentioning the Bloody Marys. If you're a Bloody Mary fan, these are elite. Seriously, one of the best I've had. We'll definitely be back.

They were packed so they seated us at the last 2 seats left at the bar near the host stand. There was an acoustic singer and guitar player adding to the energetic ambience. We were handed the place mats and menus upon seating. Then it took about 15 min to order a drink. Then another 25 min before we could place our food order. The female bartender was attentive to all the parties around us, and people who came in after us seemed to be a priority. The barback finally noticed us and helped us while he was also busting out drinks. He noticed we were trying to get her attention so he stepped in kindly and took our order. We ordered the Grilled Artichokes, the Burger, and Chicken Carbonara. (Wanted the Bolognese but someone had just ordered the last one by 8pm?!) She never checked in for a second round, so we didn't bother after about 20 min we gave up. The Artichokes came out about 20 min after ordering. They plopped them in front of us, no utensils or napkins. I had to ask the barback for some. The busser seemed disgruntled a said they only had forks. Had to flag someone else for napkins, and they brought us a pile of c-fold paper towels, when they usually have cloth napkins as we noticed with patrons who came in after us. My sis-in-law and I wolf down the 4 pieces of artichokes, using our fork and hands to cut into pieces (no knife). Then another 30 min before our mains come out. Couldn't even ask anyone for a food status update, so just tried to enjoy the live music and each other's company to distract from hunger pangs. The burger and carbonara finally show and looks great. The portions were generous. Fries were a little blonde and just underdone but seasoned enough. The carbonara was delicious as well, nice and al dente. We enjoyed our food and chatted. Music was on the louder side but for a Friday night at 8ish pm, that is not uncalled for. The restaurant started to end their rush and the bar emptied out a tad, but the service did not improve. Asked for the bill and to-go containers as soon as I could flag someone bc I knew it would take awhile to get them. Of course when getting the bill things progressed speedily, so we paid and tried to get out as soon as we were done. The staff there was hot and cold. Barback was helpful and everyone else seemed "annoyed" to have to help us with simple requests that shouldn't have to be requested to begin with. Again I understand rushes happen and staff can become overwhelmed. The bar team had to service the bar and some high tops nearby plus make drinks for the rest of the restaurant, so I understand the volume was high, but again the management team should plan accordingly to make sure the diners do not have to feel the lag in the service. Food was good but left a little disappointed from the service.
