Had the New Mexico burger it was really good. My wife had the fish boat. She loved it. The onion rings were pedestrian, but the fries were excellent spicy and fun The service staff had some trouble delivering our orders correctly but we were not in a hurry so it was no problem. This is the worst Blakes that I have ever been to and I grew up eating Blakes! My Mother and my family are from Los Lunas and I have lived in Los Lunas in the past. My Mother and I moved a way and haven't been back in years. My Mother recently moved back to Los Lunas and my husband and I went out to visit her. During that time we figured lets stop by Blakes as they are always solid NM Hamburgers. When we went to this Blakes my Mother ordered a Itsaburger and my Husband and I ordered a Lotaburger. They were all cold. Like as if it was someone else's order that had been sitting on the counter for about 30 minutes and then they severed it to us. My husband went up to the counter and mentioned that this was cold and asked for them to make us something that was hot and fresh. All of the staff working at this location look like Teenagers. We didn't notice anything at the time but they did something to the Hamburgers as we were all sick later on that night and we didn't eat anything else. In addition later on we saw that one of the girls that was working in the back kitchen was staring at us and laughing. We had eaten at other Blakes locations while in NM for approx 2 weeks during this visit and had no issues with any other locations. I don't know what these people did to my food and I am not sure that I want to know but these people should be fired if they are doing bad things to peoples food and causing them to get sick! read more

I can remember a time when Blake's Lota Burger was THE place to go for the best hamburger anywhere in NM. Alas, those days are gone. The store in Los Lunas has all the flash of modern design, but old-fashioned quality service has been replaced by non functional automated phone answering services and online ridiculousness. I placed a call to order at approximately 650pm. 20 minutes had passed with no answer. By the time I arrived at the restaurant, my phone was still ringing and nobody answering. The place was not busy with a crew of about 5 "working". I asked about the phone and nobody knew what was wrong or could explain why nobody picked up. The tables had not been wiped clean and the men's restroom was dirty. Even as I write this review, no one from the crew is attending the dirty tables. Sooooo, not only are the burgers smaller, but so is attention to cleanliness and phone orders. I understand that it's hard to hire and keep quality help for many businesses, but it is especially sad that this once mighty burger joint has fallen into the hapless hands of indifferent management. I found this place on the drive down from Albuquerque to New Mexico. Great find! First, it is on the (pre) historic Route 66. Next, it is an ultra cute diner like setting (Limited inside dining though, I sat in the outside space). I ordered the green chile (warning: New Mexico green chile is SPICY) burger with bacon and cheese, fries and a drink for about $8 (awesome value). Friendly staff, delicious food, and cool atmosphere! Two reviews in one for this place since they recently started selling breakfast. The burritos are huge, probably the biggest I've seen. The breakfast burritos could be better. I mean they taste great but very little bacon, sausage and chile inside. Mostly hash browns and egg. The little bit of chile they put in is another one of those hatch, no taste, green chiles where there is no heat to it all. Overall the burritos are worth the $4. The burgers here are some of the best in town. I love them they are cooked consistently and are very good. I get the lota combo extra patty, bacon and cheese. Good stuff Maynard! Ok, Blake's get more ridiculous every time I go. This example it's every blakes every time. Id like an itsa burger no onions and frito pie with the fritos on the side. What do I get.. onions on my ice cold unseasoned burger and fritos in the chili so by the time I get home and eat it they are soggy. So I send it back and what do I get a bowl of chili that's not even a quarter full of chili. Even less than had they kept the fritos in there. Blake's in Los Lunas is fast food that sometimes is just needed! Yummy fries and burgers! Shakes are terrific! Staff can sometimes be rude and trying to order for pick up can be impossible at times. Will get put on hold and no one ever comes back to take your order. read more
