This was a straight up delicious smashburger. So good, that it was easy to overlook the calamity that acquiring it turned out to be. So I got into Albuquerque early, and wanted lunch even though it was a little before 11am (having come from the east cost). This place inside the 505 food hall was recommended to me by Mia, the local Albuquerque community manager. I got there about 10:55, they open at 11, and knew what I wanted to eat about two minutes prior to that. I approached the counter... and well... was told not to for two more minutes, pretty curtly. OK fine, i can respect that, and the fact your day must not be off to a good start. So I come back at 11:01 and place my order for the El Burqueno burger with fries. That's a double smash cheeseburger with fried onions, green chiles, and a garlic ailoi on a grilled buttered bun. I grab a seat nearby to wait, and can see a commotion forming around the kitchen. Apparently, their frier would not turn on, so basically fries were taken to another restaurant in the food hall, brought back, and served to me. Which made things take a little longer, but was more a point of craziness for the staff than me. Neither the fries, or the burger suffered at all. In fact, the burger was one of the most on-point smashburgers I have had in recent memory. A wonderful brown crust on both smashed patties, and skirted with lots of melty cheese. The bun definitely had a rich buttery flavor, and it all came together nicely. So, mild curtness and foibles aside, this was a great stop, and I would recommend it to others seeking a smashburger adorned with chiles. read more

I wish I had a picture of the menu before but something has drastically changed. I remember a burger and fries here being less than $15. Now? The burgers alone are close to $14. Add drinks and fries/tater tots is another $5.25. And the weird thing? Just adding fried or tater tots is $5.25. There's no world where the tater tots in my picture are worth $5.25. The sandwich itself was decent but a little too greasy imo. Definitely not worth $14 for that sandwich alone. Service was decently fast but Uhh like I said earlier: adding on fries/tater tots is $5.25. And adding on fries/tater tots + a drink is also $5.25. So the drink is basically free. And yet the guy I ordered from didn't give me a drink. Guess it's my fault I assumed he would give me a cup since it's the same damn price? The burgers I think are still good and I don't know where else to find smash burgers. But if the prices stay like this, I'll definitely be motivated to look harder for another place. read more

Craving a hamburger and hubs said that everyone kept telling him that Stackers was amazing so we decided to go to the one at 505 central food hall. When we arrived there was a bit of a line about 5-6 people before us. When we did get to the front of the line the woman taking the orders asked us to wait for a bit which we did not have a problem with because it gave us time to check out the menu and see what we wanted. We waited around for about 5 minutes and I did observe the woman becoming more and more overwhelmed and a little more frantic. She finally came back to the register and took our order and said we would receive a text message when ready. While sitting and waiting for our order I could see the woman at stackers who took our order becoming even more frazzled. My hubby went to wash his hands and left his seat sticking out a little bit and at that moment the woman from Stackers comes out of her booth and makes a sign with her hand like she's shooting herself in the head as she's walking towards me and then proceeds to kick my hubby's chair into place. At this moment I realized that we haven't even received our food yet BUT her attitude, emotions and gestures were starting to shift my mood . We finally did get our food probably about 20 minutes later and I do have to admit that the food was very tasty including the French Fries which were my favorite. The only complaint was that my hamburger was a little on the salty side. Overall considering the quality of the food and its taste I might still return again to try another hamburger. Unfortunately the interaction of this employee DID affect my mood a lot that day so I had to wait a couple of days to write this review. read more

I ordered the Oklahoma Onion Burger and the Green Chile Cheese Fries for home delivery. The order came pretty fast for 6:30 PM which is often a crap shoot at popular restaurants. I've never been to Oklahoma so I've never had an authentic onion burger. I've made them at home a couple of times and they've come out okay. Their versioi was cooked nicely and had a good, sweet oniony flavor. I savored this slowly which is always a sign that I'm enjoying it. The green chile cheese fries had congealed and softened a little bit during delivery so the first bite of chile was a little strong. I had told myself I'd save them for lunch and reheat them, but I did end up eating all of them. Good, solid local place. Especially good for deliveries!!! read more

Another venue at 505 Food Hall, worthy of your taste buds if you're in the mood for a New Mexico style burger. Plenty of burgers to try, but the Duke was the most popular burger they had to offer. And it and it's plethora of green chiles did not disappoint. My friend said her chicken sandwich was good, but it was a mess. If you're into green chiles you can't go wrong with the Duke. Again the 505 Food Hall served as a great place for plenty of room and choice of foods. and Stack Burger was a fantastic choice. So much so that the Stack Burger had the longest line of the night, practically out the door. I was staying nearby and walked here for dinner. The location was inside a food hall that had a variety of food options. I had the West Coast burger: Halal Smash Burger Patty, American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Sauteed Onions Smashed into the Meat, Stackers Sauce, Pickles, Butter Toasted Local Brioche Bun. Also had a side of tots. The burger and tots were really good. Loved all the flavors of the burger and toppings. The tots were nicely crisp on the outside and soft inside. They did run out of napkins at the stall and I had to go search for them in the food hall. Also, it took a good 15 minutes to get my food. Not that big of a deal but I waited longer than I expected. I don't make it to the 505 Food Hall often, but I did make a stop recently with some of the girls from work. We were chasing down a food truck that we wanted to try... who closed down an hour before their posted hours of operation. A disappointment, to say the least. I had been to the food truck several times, and honestly, I love their smash burgers! Since I had the opportunity to have them again, I went for it. The staff were friendly and helped me with my order. I went with the West Coast Smash burger with the pickles on the side. They made my burger to order so there was a little wait, but that was no problem. Sydney even walked my order over to me when it was done. Complete with napkins, a few packets of ketchup, mustard and mayo too. So why the 3 star rating? My burger was not, a smash burger. The two patties were THICK, and little too pink in the middle. I was soooooo disappointed. I couldn't manage to eat more than three bites before I was thoroughly grossed out. It was just, not the burger I wanted. Stackers is literally known for their "smash burgers". And they are usually, AMAZING. Not this time though. The fries, though, delish! Kinda like those battered fries so they have that extra crunch. Maybe go back to the training board with that A.M. cook? I don't know what happened. I was not happy. Especially because I know the business and I know what to expect from them. I didn't think that I would be a fan of a "smashed" burger but I decided to give it a shot. I work in downtown Albuquerque but had never stopped into the 505 Central Food Hall and tried this place. Being a native New Mexican, I had to get the Duke City Smash Burger because it had sautéed onions and green chile. I also love tots (me and Napolion Dynamite) and they offered those so between all those things, I skipped my sack lunch and headed to the food hall. The burger was AMAZING! The bun was soft like a yeast bun (not a spongy bun) the meat had a great flavor and was well seasoned which worked well with the green chile and sautéed onions. I was pleasantly surprised and truly enjoyed it! I highly recommend this restaurant and will go again! read more

If you would have told me that one of my favorite burgers would be found in ABQ, I wouldn't believe you but my mind was changed when I had their green chili smashed burger here at stackers. First off, the green chilis on this burger were actually spicy which I appreciated a lot! The edges of the patty got nice and crispy just like a good smash burger should be.
