The chips are fried in a shared fryer, along with everything else. The beans, red and green chili all have flour so they not gluten-free. I ended up ordering the Bosque Breakfast (two eggs, bacon, and hash browns). The restaurant was busy, and it took over 35 minutes for our food to arrive. My husband and adult kids said their food was just okay. Nothing great. Our waitress was doing her best but seemed overwhelmed. We had to ask for our drinks to be refilled. Another hole in the wall in a small village away from Albuquerque. Even though we had a big group we were seated quickly. Waiting at the table were baskets of homemade tortilla chips. Quick look at the menu saw one of my favorite - Hand breaded chicken fried steak. So that was ordered and along with a grilled ham and cheese. Considering how busy they were food came out quickly. The grilled ham and cheese was delicious & the fries were awesome - crispy. Then there was the chicken fried steak. It was huge covering most of the plate. The gravy was ok - needed a little pepper to season it. Unfortunately the steak itself left a lot to be desired. The batter was extremely rubbery - predominately on the under side. Unfortunately even though the food is always good at Sopas the service has been horrible lately. We use to go all the time but the last 3 times we have gone we have sat 15 mins without being asked drinks then wait another 10 for drinks and then another 10 to order and then once we get our food we never see the waiter/waitress again. Use to I didn't have to find someone to get a refill or something but the last 3 visits (Dinner & lunch time) i've had to ask the bus boy or someone walking by. I hate this because I do love their food, but I refuse to go somewhere where I have to do the same effort as I would at home. I had the combination plate (take out) and it was delicious! I had a beef enchilada red, chille relleno green and a taco. The taco was just ok, but everything else was all I wanted! A friend ordered the chicken fried steak meal and it was good. The gravy was salty and both it and the potatoes were premade. But, it was delicious. Since it was my first time there, I'd sub a tamale for the taco and have set expectations about the steak (again it was delicious and I kept stealing bites of all of it! ). I would like to go back and eat at the restaurant. This place always seems to have alot of business. Usually the service is good. We came on 4/1 and it was not a good experience. The food was good but some portions were very small. For 15 bucks, the fish plate was made up of some slaw, a few fries, and three small chunks of fish. I realize food cost has gone up but I expected more. Our server gave us waters and chips but that's where the attention stopped. After about 90 min we got our food. I don't think I'll be back for some time. read more

I bragged about how good sopas was to my boys and we were disappointed today. In the past I was happy with this place but they were off their game today. We were seated pretty quick. Our water and our chips came out pretty quick but it took 30 minutes before the food came out. I know it's not fast food but it was a very long wait and what made it worse is the waiter never refilled our waters or came to the table and asked if we needed anything. We almost got up and left. The food finally comes out and the chicken fried steak was not huge like I expected, the waiter even told me it needed its own plate but it wasn't like the chicken fried steak from down the road at Rutilios. The plate was small. The green chile had no heat and btw the salsa was excellent and much hotter than the chile. The red chile had good flavor but it wasn't hot at all. The beans were cold in the middle of one of our plates and the waiter still didn't refill our drinks. Idk I liked this place but it'll be awhile before I come back because the service and the food is much better down the road. I think it's the service most of all that ruined it for us. read more

It was not worth the drive. The food was not good. We ordered the Taco plate, soft shells, beef. The shells on the tacos were just soaked in grease not fried, they feel apart making eating them impossible. The beef was a mystery meat our taste buds could not determine what it was, it had no flavor at all. The rice was cooked well but once again no flavor could be determined. The beans were same not flavorful at all. The other dish we ordered was the Navajo Taco. It was presented and looked good. Just mediocre nothing to talk about. If you are hungry and need food, this will do. The sopapillas were horrible, all heavy and doughy. The honey they serve is watered down. Meal was not enjoyable. Ate at Sopa's for the first time since before Covid. Not impressed. We both ordered the "special" . Both plates of food were stone cold. The beans (refried) apparently were spooned onto the plate directly from a can. No seasoning, no cheese, no heat. The potatoes were tasty, but cold. The enchilada "casserole" was edible and probably would have been delicious had it been warmed up. The plates were even cold! The customer at the next table sent his food back because it was cold. We were never sure which of the waitstaff was "ours"--2 or 3 different ones seemed to be attending. I asked for a beer--never got it. We waited 10 minutes for the check, AFTER I got up and got my own to-go box....and AFTER the wait person said she'd be "right back" with the check. We finally went to the front counter to pay--never did see a check. Probably not going to return. read more
