Not amazing but actually a pretty decent Guinness! Having lived in Ireland in very particular about these things. This place is actually not too bad. Great outdoor seating and super friendly service. Not much to complain about, it's an Irish pub!

Tried this place despite the low star review. Thoroughly impressed. Exceptionally clean for a dark, wooden (and therefore traditional) Irish pub. Service from Betsy was exceptional. When not entertaining, Betsy was hard at work deep scrubbing the taps (a pet peeve of mine). The Jameson forward mule tasted awesome; the space dust cold in a frosted glass. I really enjoyed the Irish themed decor. The free baseball museum only added to the overall experience. Don't believe the negative reviews. Give this place a try - you'll enjoy it!

This review is for the pub area. I was expecting more of an Irish feel, but it didn't seem to capture that vibe. It was a bit dusty and divey, and empty on the day that we were there. Maybe it was too early for a Friday (5:00 pm), but it was pretty much dead with no patrons in the bar. The bartender came over to talk to us for a bit. She was friendly and cordial, but this wouldn't be a place that I would return to. It needs better upkeep and a livelier vibe in there.

They did have a nice painting haha

Of all the spots we stopped in during a week in San Diego this was the absolute worst unfortunately. We wanted a cool, low key, Irish Pub since all the other spots were mobbed on 5th St and this place was dead slow. Instead we got slow service and attitude from the chick behind the bar and a $9.50 bottle of Budweiser. Avoid like the plague.

Went to this during the Super Bowl. It was before halftime and I had plenty of time to wander and look for a better venue. Why'd I settle here the bar had room. Go figure. Got some beer and wings. They were pretty good. Though I was a bit pissed that they were out of burgers, on the Super Bowl no less. Also, It seemed weird that a bar would only have one bartender working during the Super Bowl, but after reading the comments that seems on par. Not somewhere I would revisit unless forced. ‍ Though the male bartender was attentive and managed the bar well.

I stopped in with some friends was we were walking around Gaslamp. It's a classic Irish Pub on the inside. It has a cute wall mural of Ireland and a baseball collection, which is perfect with the stadium so close. The bartender, Betsy, was really nice! She's easy to talk to and has great stories. She recommended the peach long island iced tea to my friend and it was really good! The Guinness was good too and served in a Guinness glass. We had fun!

    Yum!

Shocked and amazed by this cool blue drink. Vodka, blue curaçao, coconut...a slice of cake. Love it! Ask Betzy to make it for you.

    Surprise don't made for me.

Crowded and loud and the bartender only served people standing at one little portion of the bar. We left after a few hopeless minutes.

Had to put in our names, as there is only so much space on an early Saturday evening. Took all of 10 minutes before entry was granted. Led inside to a standing room-only table. Lady friend got the Saturn, myself the 151 Swizzle. I probably did the wrong thing and didn't allow the ice packed on top of the swizzle to melt thoroughly enough into the drink to dilute the 151 overproof black Demerara's rum. Nae worries, brah. It was delicious. Affordable tiki-theme cocktails, decor(!) and atmosphere is why this place will remain popular and a must visit when in Sandy Eggo. Top notch!

Staff was also not very attentive to guests' needs, rather just going through the motions. For instance, they noted "standing room only" and that they would eventually seat our party of two. They walked us to an exact spot on the floor to stand and view the menu in the dark (we used our phone flashlights, but it wasn't easy while carrying our belongings too), and they instructed us not to order at the bar in this colorful but dimly lit tiki lounge. We essentially ordered from staff who took our order in the middle of the floor, then we had to hold our drinks, some that came with additional shot glasses, in full hands, as we were never seated. We did find a barrel to set our drinks on later, but their process and expectations for guests was just really weird and impractical. The theme and decor of the setting was lovely, with moments of a lightning and thunder effect that made the experience more immersive. But we were not impressed by the sticky menus and sticky floor, nor the lack of service and minimal help from staff while there. We made the most of our time at False Idol regardless of their shortcomings. The bombay sling and enigma de muerte were pretty decent in quality and flavor, so it's safe to say the drinks aren't the problem here. And though we probably won't return, it was cool for a one-time experience.

Yes, this is a bar + restaurant but I think most people come for drinks / photos. I highly recommend making reservations in advance ($50 reservation placeholder fee on OpenTable though, please be advised!!) Location wise, this place is very unassuming from the outside and is located near the airport and ~10-15 mins via car from Gaslamp. Once you walk in, everyone is immediately carded and checked in with the hostess. We initially thought this gorgeous part of the immediate interior was the entire place and were already taken away! However!! Past the DJ booth and futuristic bathrooms and up the stairs, there is a tropical area followed by this futuristic disco ball patterned dome shaped room with a waterfall. 100/10 for aesthetics!! Honey Ryder 5/5, I could only drink these and be very happy; sweet but not too sweet, very light, excellent pricing French Fries 3/5, average, not mad at this, would order again Mozzarella sticks with Caviar and Crème fraîche 3.5/5, okay yes enjoyable but I wish the mozzarella sticks were larger and more cheesy

His questions guided my indecision towards a Berkshire Old Fashioned that was fantastic despite my fumbling to get there. With the warm up round over and the old fashioned loosening up my creativity, round two was set to be a knockout. I love coffee (specifically strong espresso drinks), so I asked for a strong, coffee infused, punchy cocktail, but with a different base of alcohol from the old fashioned. What came out was the best cocktail I will probably ever have in my life. The bourbon cocktail with coffee liqueur (and a number of other garnishes I will never remember) hit the bullseye. Flavorful, strong, bold, delicious all at the same time. Unfortunately (?), this was a noble experiment so I'll forever be chasing the white whale of what this drink was. But that's the allure.

This one is long overdue--not that they need my review, because by now everyone already knows how amazing this place is. What keeps me coming back is the combination of great music, an energetic vibe, outstanding service, and some of the most creative cocktails you'll find anywhere. Tonight was girls' night out, so we decided to order the prettier, and sweeter cocktails. But don't let the sweet flavors fool you--they are definitely generous with the alcohol. These drinks may taste dangerously easy to sip, but they pack a punch! I don't even remember the names of the cocktails we ordered, but honestly, that doesn't matter because the menu changes so often. And that's one of the things I love most about Music Bar. Every visit brings something new, fresh, and exciting to try. Both of my drinks were absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. I honestly don't know how the bartenders come up with these combinations, but kudos to the team for constantly pushing their creativity while still making every cocktail incredibly well balanced. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, Music Bar never disappoints. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new creations they come up with next.
