This was a pretty average experience. All three of the meals we got were all right but nothing special. The pesto chicken was tasty, the fig and arugula pizza was meh, and the cowboy burger was alright. The pizzas crust was very send and didn't have much but to it. Very excited to see how lively the area is now. It seems like a great place to hang out and I will be returning. The service was fantastic. I only came for desert but was sorry I didn't come for dinner after seeing the food. Everything looked so delicious. The wall of beer is very interesting. There is a pear cider that is good as well. 4 or 5 wines. There are beer glasses and wine glasses. There are also chilled beer glasses. The margarita wine tastes like tequila. So I would not be trying that again. It is very interesting to get to pick how much you spend on your drink based on how much you fill the glass. Its nice because you can taste the drinks and then get something else. We ordered the brookie. It was very good. A bit undercooked in the middle, but still fantastic. It had whipped cream and caramel on it. I was expecting the brownie to be on top of the cookie, but the cookie was on the outside and the brownie was on the inside. It was not two layers. I went there for lunch at approximately at 12:30 pm on 8/22/22. Me and the wife sat down at a table for 20 minutes with out a waiter/waitress that never approached the table. No one took our drinks order. After about 20Minutes we finally just walked out and on the way out the hostess didn't even say have a good day or anything to even acknowledge us. Went in on a Friday night at about 630 and the restaurant was slow which made me apprehensive at first given old town was bustling with the farmers market. Started with a couple beers and a soft pretzel the beers were fine and there was a good selection the pretzel was hot and tasty but the sauces were nothing special mustard from a bottle and cheese from a can. Our server whose name I think was Jacob was polite and attentive at first but only at first. I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger upgraded to garlic fries on the side my date got the Mac and cheese. The burger was completely unseasoned as were the mushrooms it was covered in so much sauce that I could not taste anything else I don't even know if it had the caramelized onions as I couldn't see them or taste it past the sauce they had put on it, the bun at least was fresh and soft. The garlic fries were an absolute joke the while the fries were cooked properly and were quite crispy and hot they were not seasoned and I don't know where you guys get off up charging for garlic fries when all you do is hit them with a little garlic oil and about 3 leaves of chopped parsley. The Mac and cheese was by far the worst the pasta was cooked to mush and probably 2 to 3 days prior to it being ordered as it tasted faintly like refrigerator. The sauce though claiming to be a 5 cheese Mac and cheese was the same canned sauce that came with our pretzel and cold mozzarella sprinkled over the top not even melted with some of the cheapest bacon I think I've ever had. Our server never asked us how the food was probably because he knew. I sat facing the kitchen and the waiter station I watched as plate after plate still half full of food went into the trash because no one apparently wanted to take it home. Lastly and this is just me being picky your kitchen staff shouldn't be playing around and openly ogling the people passing by the window when they work in an open kitchen. They also shouldn't be visibly throwing around food and swinging a pizza peel like a bat. If that's how your staff behaves put them in a closed kitchen. This place is bad I will not be returning and I don't recommend anyone go here. read more

After seeing positive reviews here, my book club and I decided to get together here. We were seated right away and the server checked in at intervals while we waited for one more person. The pouring stations an interesting idea. You tell the server that you want to drink, and they give you a tab card (like a credit card). You can grab a fresh glass from the display, choose your poison, place the card in the holder and pour as much or as little as you want. They have quite a few beers and a handful of wine options. I got wine so there wasn't much time to get a good look at the display, but I did find the percentages poured quite confusing. I was going for a smaller pour and ended up with a glass almost full to the brim. I guess you'd get the hang of it if drinking beer. I'd try it again, though. For food, I ordered the Philly cheese steak which comes on a brioche bun (burger-sized). The meat was tender and topped with plenty of grilled peppers and onions. The mozzarella was thick and stringy but bland, so it looked the part but didn't add much flavor. It came with garlic fries which were fresh and tasty. Judging from my friends' portions the serving sizes are good overall - I'd probably go for something like this again over the pizza, which looked pretty similar to Pieology at a bit of a mark-up. The salads looked good too. I enjoyed the setting, with the exposed kitchen and vaulted ceilings. It's pretty trendy for Old Town. But it did get really loud at points and we had a hard time hearing each other. read more

There is a great selection of apps, pizzas, burgers, plus a perfectly priced Kids menu. Speaking of the kids menu, theres no fake food. 100% chicken nuggets, legit pizza, and pasta options. We visited Blast and Brew in late December, a couple weeks after their grand opening. They're doing great so far. Everybody in Clovis must be eager to try the new place. We came in for lunch and they were hopping. Unlike all of the other high-heat-fast-cook pizza places I've been to (Pieology, Blaze, MOD, etc), this one has full sit-down table service, which was appreciated. Our waitress Ronnie took great care of us. Everything came out super quickly and piping hot. The pizza was excellent. As far as toppings, I was especially impressed with the moist and flavorful roast chicken, as well as the fresh (not pickled) jalapeños. If I could change one thing, I'd add a little more salt to the pizza dough, as the crust was under-seasoned. Eager to go try the beer taps, wifey and I left our daughter with the grandparents and let them do the ordering. They forgot to order her plain cheese pizza and when our food arrived we accidentally told our waitress it was "missing". We figured out within 30 seconds that it wasn't missing but we'd forgotten to order it, and we didn't actually need it (she can pick the toppings off and the pizzas were plenty big). We let our waitress know right away (with our apologies for being confused), but they'd already fired an extra pizza for us and delivered it to our table gratis. Very classy move, and made the kiddo happy. In addition to the pizza, we ordered the Bavarian pretzel and it was delicious as well, served hot and buttery, with a beer cheese sauce and a hot mustard sauce which were both quite tasty. I love to pour my own beer. I'm familiar with this system from past visits to Me N Ed's On Tap, which has a very similar system. I like this swipe-card a little better than the wrist bracelet at Me N Eds. How is pour-my-own beer better than having somebody pour it for me? - For starters, I can taste just a sip of every single beer on tap if I'd like. - I can also mix two beers together if I'm feeling creative. - I could even recreate a Jr. High school favorite and make a Suicide by mixing all the sodas--I mean beers--together. - I can also choose to get a frosty cold glass out of the freezer for every single pour. - Not ready to commit to a whole beer? I can pour a 1/2 beer. Or a 2/3 beer. Or a 3/4 beer. Or a 7/8 beer. It's all billed by the ounce. - I can read about each beer, thanks to helpful iPads placed above each tap displaying information about the brewery, as well as ABV, IBU, etc. - Lastly, pouring my own beer is way more fun. They have a handful of nitro taps, as well as wine on tap for anybody that doesn't love the malt, hops, and barley. During our visit, we found an excellent selection of microbrews and imports. This time I selected a pint of the Boddington's pub ale, followed by the Ed's Red, which is a house beer, made exclusively for them by Tioga-Sequoia Brewing, and is a favorite of mine for flavorful budget brews. Blast & Brew is owned by parent company Milano Restaurants International, which also owns Fresno's (and my) favorite after-soccer/softball family pizzeria: Me-N-Eds. I'd definitely come back. Full disclosure: My father-in-law worked for Me-N-Eds for many years. This has influenced the frequency of my visits to Me-N-Eds (basically every time we go to Fresno) but has in no way influenced my rating here. It's like a Mickey's Yogurt for adults! :) You serve your own beer and pay by the ounce! I love this. It gives you the opportunity to try a beer, or just have a half a glass of a beer. Or, serve yourself when you get thirsty! We ate before across the street at House of JuJu, so we were full, but, we had dessert. I tried the monster size chocolate chip cookie with brownie bits, caramel and whipped cream. It was delicious, very sweet (as expected). But, I keep hearing wonderful things about their Italian nachos, and their bruschetta bites looked delicious. The inside is well lit but not very big, but there is a patio outside for additional seating. The crowd is pretty mixed of young, older and families. We stumbled in from the heat (holy cow its hot here) and found this haven, a beer heaven!! I think there were nearly 40 options to sample at your own pace. Basically, you get a card and buy as much as you want - allowing you to taste as many flavors as you can handle. (As in, don't drink your face off people - keep it classy!) Then the food - man, the tri-tip sandwich with fries was fantastic! Soft, juicy, tasty and just messy enough that you feel great about it! My friend had the sliders, which she said was good too, but she eyed my sandwich and said she's getting that next time! LOL. Its a bar, so rather loud with great music and a vibrant vibe. I was looking forward to lunch here today because I really enjoyed my first visit and couldn't wait to return for wings again. Unfortunately, the food wasn't quite what I had hoped for today, and as hard as our server tried, he seemed to be struggling. He was really nice and we were patient with him, as we should be, but he forgot a lot so we spent a lot of time waiting. Perhaps he was a bit new. Anyway, the brews were good, but the food was not so much. We ordered the Phili and the avocado burger. The Phili was okay, but it seemed like it was more bread than anything. They really skimped on the best part of the sandwich. The burger was okay. We sent it back because there was a hair in it and received a replacement burger that was pretty cold. The garlic fries were good at the top of the basket, but so greese saturated toward the bottom that they were wet and soggy. I saw Blast and Brew featured as a new hot spot in Fresno and knew I had to try it on my next trip down. It was, indeed, very packed when we went on a Friday night. The concept is awesome-- you get a card which can activate any tap. From there, you can sip, taste, or dedicate yourself to an entire pint. You pay at the end with your allotted card. They have lots to choose from, even wine and cider. The only downside was it felt a little limiting considering some of the taps were down when we went. Otherwise, very fun and upbeat atmosphere!
