If I could give 4.5 stars, that would be better. Our food was good. We started with the mussels, which would have been better with more/better bread. We had the Local Farmers pizza, and it was fine. We also had the salmon risotto which was superb. It might have been the best meal we had during our whole trip. The main problem was the service. It was so slow that they gave us free fries for waiting. Someone would come help us, and then go answer the phone or something random like that. We are still waiting on the ranch we asked for. We ordered takeout from blaze. Food was ready quickly and food was hot and cooked well. We ordered the buffalo wings which weren't very large but normal sized with a very forward buffalo flavor. This came with either a side of ranch or blue cheese. We ordered the ranch which was somewhat odd tasting. We also ordered the bacon meatloaf. The meatloaf was under seasoned and the bacon was undercooked. The potatoes were cooked nicely as was the broccolini, but also under seasoned. I adore bourbon and "old fashions" to be specific. They have a great KnobCreek9 Old Fashioned. I highly suggest it but top end is their forte' so your imagination is your only holes barred. They are an open fire pizza joint but the apps are also amazing! Sometimes they have events like New Years and they had downstairs open for overflow (my first impression as upstairs was being renovated at the time). Expensive meal, poor execution, and all four of us experienced stomach distress afterward. We visited Blaze Brewing in Blue Hill on December 13 for a birthday and left deeply disappointed. Service lacked attention to detail, especially given how quiet the restaurant was. Glasses arrived spotty, flatware mismatched, and a $14 glass of wine smelled strongly of chlorine. No plates were offered for a shared appetizer, and there was no salt and pepper on the table--we had to ask for both. The food did not justify the price. The Caesar salad was far from authentic--soggy, overdressed, and heavy on vinegar. The steak had a significant amount of gristle, and the mushroom/beef gravy had the taste and texture of a commercial product rather than something house-made. Fries were overdone and served in a very small portion. Most concerning, all four of us experienced stomach discomfort and digestive distress within a short time after the meal. For what we paid, we expected much better. This visit was a major disappointment. read more

We were lucky enough to snag a creek side table post-hike. We went a bit after 11AM (when they open) so we had no problem getting a spot. The staff were kind and helpful in answering our questions and made sure dietary restrictions were accounted for. My sister-in-law and I enjoyed blueberry mules (one alcoholic, one virgin), my sister and brother-in-law enjoyed flights, and my partner tried a few of the sours. We ordered poutine for the group, which was a hit. Many of us ordered pizzas (I loved "the pitmaster") and others enjoyed sandwiches, burgers, and steak and fries. When I'm in Blue Hill again someday, I'd gladly come back. Parking is typical Blue Hill parking. We grabbed a street spot, but there is a parking lot nearby, too. read more

We've been here 5 times between last summer and this summer and every meal has been delicious. The only item we ever had that was not great was a Buffalo chicken pizza that is no longer on the menu. That had weird whole chicken wings on it and so much Buffalo and ranch sauce on top it was inedible- and I love sauce! Pub style ambience and was exceptionally busy for a Sunday night. No real name taking process, but we got seated after about 15 minutes. The staff was overwhelmed, but service was surprisingly quick and efficient. They were harried but friendly. The smoked black porter was exceptional, and the fish and chips were well above average. The fried haddock was one on the largest pieces of fish I've ever seen. Nicely fried and very crispy. I'd happily return. read more

Today we were out for a ride and decided to stop for lunch. I have been to the restaurant in Bangor and always enjoyed the food. This restaurant is nothing like that Blaze. First we waited over 45 minutes for our appetizers. My fiancé ordered the fried chicken sandwich. I cannot even imagine what chef would send out a burned dry piece of chicken and expect somebody to actually eat it. The $35.00 lobster roll was definitely subpar as well. The roll was cold instead of toasted and the only word I can use to describe the lobster was mushy. The garden salad came as a Caesar salad as well. The entire meal was just an epic failure. We realized this was not the responsibility of the waitress but we showed her the chicken and she asked if we wanted it to be removed from the bill. Not, I'll take care of it, but "do you want it removed". When we got the bill the sandwich was included. We were so very disappointed with this meal and we will certainly never be back. read more

Ordered the poutine appetizer, they were out of duck gravy, couldn't make it. Giant pretzel with cheese was ok. Huge cup of Lobster bisque, but it was Luke warm, hardly any lobster meat. Our sons kids meal -hot dog and fries was very good and reasonably priced, delicious fries. My husband ordered the duck burger, he didn't care for it at all. I ordered steak tips medium came with mashed potatoes and veg, potatoes were cold, steak tasted reheated more rare than I asked for. Steak Covered in a sweet kind of teriyaki sauce, didn't like it. Overall Kind of pricey. Beautiful setting, interesting menu, excellent service, the food just wasn't hitting. Maybe it depends on who's cooking. Prob won't go back. read more

Revisited this restaurant in July 2025. This was the best meal on our trip. Got there around 7ish and were seated outside right away. Service was excellent, beer was great and the food was really good. Had the mussels, the fish and chips and the beer brats and mash. All of it was excellent. Blaze is a very attractive establishment and that is what the 2 stars are for. Otherwise it was a great disappointment. The menu was large and very enticing. The food we received was not. My Duck Fat Fries were limp, colorless, tasteless and cold. The roasted garlic aioli was about a tablespoon of plain mayo. I sent the fries back because of their temperature. I received a bowl of fries that were still, limp colorless, tasteless and cold but the interior of the pile was the blazing hot. Most likely microwaved. The lobster corn chowder had one piece of corn and no apparent lobster. The cup of soup was miniscule yet weighed in at a hefty $11. My friend got the birria tacos, also disappointing. I tried some of the tacos. We both ended up with GI issues that night and the next day. The Gen Z waitstaff was disinterested and our waitress was never seen again after she delivered drinks. Stopped here today for lunch, because, quite honestly, everything else appeared to be closed. There's a lot of construction going on in the front of the establishment and we had to work around the construction material to get to the door that allowed us to enter. Not very encouraging. but when we got inside, everything changed. Great service. We were seated immediately. And the food was just outstanding. We ordered lobster bisque, which came with two perfectly toasted pieces of French bread. We also ordered the haddock sandwich which was outstanding. French fries were clearly hand cut. Delicious. I wish I could write a glowing review for this place, because the spot is just gorgeous. Unfortunately, we had a pretty miserable experience. The reason I am giving them any stars at all is the location is lovely, my Blazerita was delicious, my husband lo-o-o-o-ved his beer, and our tater tots appetizer was out of this world. So why only three stars? The service. We arrived on a very HOT summer day and more than half of the large picnic tables on their patio were open. We were told we couldn't be seated because those are only for parties of 4 or more. The only tables available were inside. We were told it'd be a 20 minute wait until one of the smaller tables was free. OK, so now were are only slightly irritated because it is always frustrating to hear that they are going to hold tables open for people who are not present and make customers who are present wait. The problem was, they completely forgot about us. Half an hour later, seeing several smaller tables on the patio open and sitting vacant, we went and checked in with the hostess and we got an, "oh yeah...I forgot about you." Once we were seated it took more than half an hour for a food order to be taken and an hour for our food to come out. All-in-all, it was a very aggravating dining out experience. I hope they work out their customer service systems because everything else was great. read more

Three of us were passing through the area and stopped in when we saw that oysters were offered here. We love a place that can offer oysters with dinner. The location is amazing. The seating near the stream was magical. But our positive experience ended there. Our server Ellie made the visit a disaster. While asking for the ingredients in a couple of menu items her answer was an annoyed "I don't know" and she had no intention of going to find the answers. We should had known it was going to be downhill at that point. We told her we were going to start with appetizers and we ordered the oysters along with a couple of other items. 15 minutes later she returned to take the rest of our order and we placed our entrees as well. She then asked if we wanted appetizers to come out with the entrees. We explained no, we wanted to start with the appetizers. That's why we ordered them 15 minutes ago. Apparently she hadn't even put them in the system yet. Very odd. So we patiently waited the extra time for those. But we still kept our good vibes about the place until the oysters came out. We ordered a dozen oysters. Several of them were shucked improperly and had scattered shell fragments in them but we worked around them. However, three of our oysters were very badly rotten. It was a surprise they were sent out in their condition. I pointed this out to the server and she only exclaimed with "Ok" and gave us an annoyed "I don't care" look while asking us if we wanted to order more beer. Our beers were not even half empty. That's when we realized this was probably the worst service we've had in a long time. The busser there was ten times more pleasant and professional. Perhaps they should switch positions. No attempts were made by Ellie to give any kind of adequate service. I highly recommend you avoid that server. Otherwise the location was great and the food (that wasn't rotten) was decent. Good pub style place, open when a lot of others aren't. Beer selection is great. Pizzas are fabulous, in a wood fired stove during the warmer months. . The place can be overrun at times and the staff can be short-handed. They still do a good job, it just takes a while. Burgers are very good, poutine is great, but there's a lot of it!! We love the Brussel sprouts. I find it to be comparable to the Bangor location, the Blue Hill place is actually bigger and has a much better ambiance beside a stream. The outdoor picnic tables are wonderful in the summer. Great place to bring the whole family. read more

One person in our party has an onion allergy, and the kitchen made no effort to help navigate the menu and told us that there were NO options for someone with an onion allergy. Upon further insistence that our waitress check again, the kitchen came up with one option. There were other items that were almost certainly onion free, but we could get no help confirming that. We also asked for olive oil for the salad and we were told they didn't have any, even though many items on the menu listed olive oil as an ingredient. So we ate dry salad. This was the worst service I've ever experienced with a constant feeling that it would be best for us to not be there. On top of the unfriendly service, the food was mediocre. The outdoor seating on the river was fantastic and the most enjoyable part of an otherwise surprisingly unpleasant experience. read more
