If you've been to any design-your-own-pizza places, this shop is nothing new. Make a pizza any way you want it and have it baked in 2 minutes! The one thing I do love is that they seem to have thicker, heftier crust than Pieology and Pizza Studio. There's something to be said about a pizza that has a good ratio of dough to toppings and doesn't seem like a skimpy cracker. You walk down the counter, telling the line of employees what you want on your pizza. You can choose from their pre-made pizza creations or design your own. Put as much as you want on it for only $7.75! Bummer: the gluten free crust is an extra $3. Also, they don't have whole wheat or seasoned crust options. BUT the size of the pizza was enough for me to have for another meal later on! The boxes for leftovers are adorably and literally the size of half a pizza, so they expect you to at least half on your own, which is not hard to do. I got the White Top pizza, which had white sauce with mozzarella, garlic, bacon, oregano, and arugula (that's sprinkled on after the pizza is baked). I added mushrooms and those balls of fresh mozzarella for extra cheesy goodness. The pizza was so flavorful and the garlic wasn't overpowering. They also have a good blood orange lemonade that's refillable and only $1.99! It was sweet and had a strong splash of orange flavor! Caution: it gets packed in here! Perhaps because it's the only personalized, speedy pizza place in Davis or because it's still so new, but I wouldn't encourage coming during prime meal hours. If you do though, the line does move quickly and the tables aren't so comfy that you want to lounge around for hours. The seating & atmosphere is reminiscent of Chipotle. They call out your name for you to pick up your pizza, so listen closely! There aren't waiters, per se, but there was a really nice employee who went around asking how our food was, if she could bring us anything, and who also took our empty pizza tins when we were finished eating. You don't get better service than that for a meal that cost you less than $10! I don't even like cheese but Blaze really won my heart over. + THE PIZZAS I LOVE how there's so many different toppings you can get on your pizza. The spicy sauce was so bomb because it was hearty like marinara but had a nice kick of spiciness to it. I had the plain ol' mozzarella cheese on top (asked for a bit less than usual) and it was the perfect amount that complemented the sauce. As for the meats, I had the grilled chicken, applewood bacon, and Italian sausage. All of them were super rich in flavor and the chicken was pretty juicy too. As for the veggies, I got spinach, black olives, green bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, sauteed onions, and zucchini. I especially loved the cherry tomatoes because they were sweet and mixed well with all the different flavors. Initially, I was afraid that since I got so many toppings, the pizza crust would give away and become soggy but that didn't really happen. The pizza was so crispy and delicious! + THE SERVICE All the workers here are so friendly! When you tell them it's your first time, they give you a thorough explanation of how to order. The city of Davis is already known for being a friendly city but prepare yourselves for a whole lot of smiles and doors being held for you! + THE ENVIRONMENT The restaurant is pretty big, having plenty of seats for big groups. Everything is very simple and feels hipster. I like how they have outdoor seating so you can enjoy the nice weather outside. We ordered a art lover pizza and a self made: pesto base with mozzarella, sausage, chicken, mushroom, bell pepper, and spinach. They were ready in just a few minutes after the orders! Love them both. The crust was very crunchy for the chicken pizza but a little heavy for the artichoke one. But the slightly sour taste of artichoke and tomato was amazing. I also liked chicken and mushroom combo. Great place! I went during a weekday during lunch, and the place was clean, the service was quick and friendly, and the food was delicious. Price is also reasonable; it was a little more than $8 for an individual pizza (of pretty big size!) with a TON of unlimited toppings to choose from. To me, if I'm starving and don't go nuts on the toppings, I can finish the entire pizza, but otherwise it would be a "meal+snack for later" pizza. Definitely worth trying at least once! One tip: the pizza is thin crust, which is why it's cooked a lot faster than normal pizza. So I recommend not going TOO crazy on "wet toppings" or your crust may get soggy and/or fall apart when you pick up a slice. read more

The range of toppings was a little less than Pieology but they do offer something's Pieology doesn't like meatballs (Italian and turkey), roasted garlic, fresh mozzarella, and more. The sauce selection is a little more limited. You can chose to have a spicy red sauce that is good. However, the white sauce has no flavor to it. Overall, it was a good value for the money and pretty tasty. It'll do well in a college town like Davis. I'll definitely go back if I'm craving pizza and am in Davis. Although their menu comes with their own signature pizzas (if you feel lazy) and salad, I only really come here for their "build your own"pizza. The price is reasonable for the size of the pizza. It come down to a total of ~$8.90 with tax if you get the BYO. I came in on a Thursday night around 8. There was a line but it was pretty short. The whole process of ordering, paying, and baking took 10-15 min, which is pretty fast. It was also pretty easy to find seating, which is a plus. I really like how many options there are for dough, sauce, toppings, and garnishes. They really cater to people with certain diet restrictions. They have gluten-free dough, vegan cheese, tofu "popcorn chicken", etc. There so many meat options too-pepperoni, chicken, ham, bacon, Italian sausage. You can even add some kind of drizzle at the end. They also have Parmesan cheese, red chili flakes, and Sriracha on the table. My go-to pizza is half white/ half spicy red sauce. Mozzarella cheese, no meat (although I am not vegetarian), spinach, tomatoes, zucchini, red peppers, jalapeños, red onions, artichoke, and garlic. Add barbecue and olive oil drizzle at the end. And it's so bomb. Cons: Depending on who's working, they sometimes skim out on the ingredients. I never get meat with pizzas and they sometimes add little veggies on my already-empty pizza. Also, I've had instances where they leave my pizza in the oven for too long. Nobody likes burnt pizzas.
