The first time I went to a Blaze Pizza, it was at home in San Francisco. I didn't see one after moving to Durham, but a month-long school rotation brought me out to Clayton. When I passed by Blaze on my commute, to say that I was excited would be an understatement. I'm on a student budget and so eating out, wherever it may be (even a fast casual pizza joint) is a splurge. I stood outside the restaurant and debated whether or not I should go in. Did I deserve it based on how hard I worked that week? Ehh. But did I go in anyway? You can bet I did, and with zero regrets. This was my first time visiting blaze. They have a vast menu where you can choose your crust (e.g. cauliflower, keto, regular, etc.), a signature pizza, or create your own. I opted to try the keto crust with the signature meat eater pizza. They fix the pizza in front of you with an option to add additional toppings and even a glaze once the pizza has finished cooking. What I was impressed with outside of the delicious pizza was their drinks. They offered a classic drink I haven't seen in a while, Cream soda. The crusts are reliably thin, crisp and tasty here, and the toppings are plentiful. The price is right, too, at $7.95 for a 10-inch pizza with as many or as few toppings as you'd like. I saw on the board that you can order a pizza with just one topping for a lower price. You also have the option to pay more for a thicker crust or a gluten-free one. This location is very small. On a busy Saturday afternoon, it was hard for some diners to find a table. The people behind the counter were cordial, but not terribly friendly, which is understandable on a busy day. read more

The staff was extremely unfriendly in that they didn't greet us upon entering. But not only that, they declined to invite us to come again. If that wasn't enough they didn't thank us for placing an order. It was laughable to me in that they had the audacity to request a tip with our order. To make matters worse, the tables were all incredibly dirty. And finally there were no napkins to wipe our hands. Those things in and of themselves helped us understand very quickly why the sanitation grade is only a 94%. We could've got overall better overall service out of the grocery store freezer section by purchasing a Digiorno. Ate here today with a group of 6 for lunch. I had a pizza with cauliflower crust, mozzarella and spicy red sauce. Toppings were sausage, pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms, onions and banana peppers. It was fantastic--cooked perfectly and delicious--ready in just a few minutes. Counter people were very friendly and helpful. First timers note that there is a fountain beverage bar around the wall and not visible from the line. We have a Blaze pizza back home that I haven't tried, but based on this experience, I will be soon. First time I've had cauliflower crust, but that will be my choice in the future and I like having that available. read more

While working near the white oak area, Blaze pizza was my first experience with the build your own personal sized pizza place. They had so many delicious pizza toppings you could choose from it was great. They have a great variety of sauces, cheeses, meats, veggies and finishes and the best thing about it is that you can add whatever you want and it is all the same price. The pizza was perfect size for an individual, although, depending on how hungry you are, you may be able to have some leftovers. My heart raced and sweat dripplets began forming on my already oily and awkwardly large forehead. I walked up to the server and mustered up all the courage to finally say "hello". Whew. The hard part was over, so I thought. "What's your name?" She asked. Again, I was stuck. Should I give her my casual nickname of Steph or was that too friendly? "Stephanie" I said with a quiver in my voice. Whew. Another milestone overcame. I moved down the line and made up my pizza. Sausage, ham, pesto AND traditional sauce, bacon, spinach, and bbq drizzle. My pizza was complete. We waited to hear our names, grabbed some seats, and came upon the moment of truth. I bit into the pizza, closed my eyes, inhaled, chewed, and experienced what it was to taste an almost New York pizza. It was tasty and fulfilling. I'm not walking off the extra pound I must've gained in the last 30min and hoping to God above that my lactose intolerance doesn't kick in until I get home. I went here for the grand opening and got a free build your own pizza. Much like the Blaze in Moorisvile, the new Blaze in Garner has awesome service and incredible pizzas. We waited in a line that was out the door for 20 minutes, but once we ordered, everything went very smoothly and the pizzas were baked ridiculously fast, takes them 3-4 minutes. I love how they greet you by name and politely ask what you would like on your pizza. The staff was very friendly and keep the long line moving fast. The pizza is awesome. You can't beat unlimited toppings, especially when they're good quality ingredients like at Blaze. I love the thin crust they use. It gets super crispy and does not come out greasy. The red sauce is very tasty and seasoned well. I love the variety of cheeses like the shredded mozzarella and crumbled goat cheese. As far as meats, the meatball and Italian sausage are a must for me. It's good quality meat and not that mystery meat from dominos. I like loading up with fresh veggies too. I love the roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, and roasted garlic. Everything just tastes so fresh and for an amazing price, you really can't beat it. If you want an $8 pizza with unlimited good quality ingredients, Blaze is a must. The line moves quickly despite the employees' willingness to super-customize your order (and toppings are free). The ingredients are fresh and the sausage is really tasty. This is a fast-baked pizza place in the White Oak area. They also have salad and dough knots, but other than that, the menu is pretty limited. The employees were welcoming and helpful but seemed to be easily frazzled. I ordered a Red Vine and thought it was delicious. The dough knots surprised me because I didn't know they had cheese and pesto, which was a pleasant surprise. The pizzas are right under $8, which is slightly high in my opinion, but the food tasted good so I'm not complaining too much. By the time you get down the assembly line and pay for your order, your pizza is basically finished. Seating can be limited during peak hours, but I came on a cold, rainy day and had options. They have toppings sitting out (Parmesan, red pepper flakes, sriracha), as well as to-go boxes. Overall, I had a good experience and most likely would visit again. Really disappointed with the service here. I have been coming here since this location opened. Usually, the service is prompt friendly, and organized. Today the store is in disarray. The restaurant touts a dismal 94% health rating, the register guy seems lost, and the pick up line is a disaster (pizzas lest out, pizzas backed up in the oven). The sign as you enter in says "service may be slow because of understaffing." This really isn't an excuse if you can't run your business then maybe take a couple days for training. They are just going to hurt their reputation. Sad thing is, I absolutely love Blaze. Please do better. Really disappointed. read more

At first I thought I would be okay not complaining and just eating it but why give someone a burned item it was disgusting. Blaze is the perfect fast pizza restaurant. You pay a flat rate for a small personal pizza and from there you can add as few or as many toppings as you want. The toppings are not boring, either. There are 7 cheese options (I know because I usually get all of them), about as many meats, and a plethora of veggies/ extras. For a few dollars more you can get the thick crust dough and watch your pizza bubble and rise while you wait impatiently for your towering creation to be ready. The one thing they don't have figured out is logistics. During lunch an expediter is calling names and they don't always have the lungs to yell over a crowd. I have also seen napkin and straw dispensers stay empty for 30 minutes while the staff deals with a tide of hungry lunch goers.
