The girl who made my pizza was completely sloppy, half the sauce was not even on the dough. She basically just threw the ingredients on. This Blaze in the particular is always packed! Since its located across directly from UCI in the Towne Center. I had to leave a review though, since just not to long ago I visited during one of their fundraiser nights. Left hyst say that of course, the place was chaos. But the manager of the location, which I'm assuming is the guy with the pony tail hair style, had a great attitude even though himself and his staff were in the weeds. After most recently visiting their Main Place Mall location, I've gotta say this particular site was pretty disgusting. I completely understand that it is a college town, but a few wipe downs here and there would do the place some major good! The whole place was pretty filthy. For reasons unbeknownst to me, none of the 7 people standing behind the counter could do clean up duty. What made matters worse was that they completely ran out of napkins. I saw some patrons having to walk over to Slapfish just to get some! What kind of restaurant runs out of napkins??? Speaking of running out of items... they also ran out of over half of the pizza ingredients when I went. You like sausage? Spinach? Mushrooms? Salame? Nope nope nope. How about just a 1 topping cheese pizza? Cuz that's pretty much what we were faced with. It was still about 2 hours until closing so I really have to question if they have the toppings rationed out each day, which I find also unacceptable. I tried giving the benefit of the doubt thinking that perhaps UCI has an event earlier that day that just wiped them clean, but I also have to wonder... It's been a few yrs since this location has been opened so I'd like to think the manager would have thought to get a hold of UCI's event/finals schedule to prep the kitchen accordingly. Blaze is awesome! Build your own pizza just the way you want it. You can add as many topping as you like and as much of that topping if you ask. The thin crust enables it to be cooked within minutes and enables you to be able to taste all of the toppings. 1 pizza is a perfect individual size for foodies. This location is great for students who go to UCI or the other close colleges for a meal even late at night when other places aren't open. One worker Mike was especially great, I let him know my pizza couldn't be too greasy so he told me what would be best to put on and I ended up having a chicken pizza with vegetables. Very disappointed at the operation during COVID-19 pandemic where we need to be practicing social distancing for safety of all customers. However, I've noticed that customers were lined up literally shoulder to shoulder inside since the preppers would continue to ask about the toppings they would want which forces them to move forward to see the toppings. While the food is good, one worker here ruined the experience for me. A dark skinned Hispanic girl with silver rimmed glasses needs a reality check. And it sucks too because this isn't the first time I had a bad experience with her. Came in with 2 friends. We all got pizzas for to-go and when we to pick it up, it was served to eat in store. We politely said that we got it for to-go (packaged in a box) and the girl said "well you're eating it here". RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!! I ordered the green stripe and asked for BBQ sauce on the side. When I went to pick it up, the pizza was missing pesto and arugula and the SIDE of BBQ sauce. I asked her to add on the missing items and she proceeded to do so AND ROLLED HER EYES. Like I'm sorry but it's not my fault you don't know your menu?? Also she drenched my pizza with BBQ sauce when I originally asked for it on the side (same girl did the same thing to my friends art lovers pizza). So I asked to have my pizza remade, yet again, I got another eye roll from her. Also my 2 friends ordered art lovers, and their pizzas were missing sauce on top. Back to my previous experience a couple months back, I asked the same girl for BBQ sauce on the side and she tells me in the rudest tone "you're supposed to ask at the register". I don't like pizza that much but given the option that they let you make it your way, I'm down for that! Blaze Pizza isn't a fancy place but they have good pizza. It's good because you get to make them! My recipe is keep it simple, Original crust, Red sauce, lots of mozzarella, Parmesan Cheese, bacon, ham, pepperoni, sautéed Onions, green bell peppers , lots of basil leaves, tomatoes, and Pesto Sauce. You can add mushrooms if you want but this is my jam! It will take you a while like 10-20 mins (or longer) to reach the counter though because it's just that good! Make sure to prepare your pizza to go as the seats are easily filled. The good thing about this location is that it has a ton of tables and chairs scattered all around the place as it is near a University. If you are in a hurry, better order it in advance, for them to start baking it when you get there. I will comeback again real soon. read more

Two stars for the two employees on sauce and toppings. I came in at like 1:20 and it was pretty empty compared to the usual. The girl that "greeted" me was so incredibly rude (she was kinda tan and had glasses). I asked for the $5 lunch and she suddenly gave me a salad with it when I didn't ask so figured it came with the deal (doubted it and was totally right when my total came out to $9). I then said can I get Italian on the side for the salad and she gives me this look and goes "whats that." And I said dressing and she grabs RANCH. I just ignored it figuring I can get the Italian at home. Sauce and toppings were fine and then I see her back at the cashier. Yawns and tells me my total was $9 and I didn't argue because I should've asked about the salad. I then tell her if I could get bbq on the pizza after and she rolls her eyes and looks around as she tells me "just tell the guy after" even though girl on toppings told me I can tell the cashier and they'll do it for me?? What's up with your attitude? She never asked me if I wanted a drink, never asked if I wanted my receipt, yet as I watch the next couple of customers go she asks them. Okay like what did I do wrong to you? I like it very much . The best pizza shop I've ever been because you have options of choosing your ingredients. But they have an awful policy! Poor workers are not allowed to accept the tips! This is terrible! These young students are working so hard to pay for their expenses! I've never seen any other restaurant that the workers were not allowed to accept tips. Going here (my friend's idea) was a great choice. You can get one of their pizzas off the menu, or custom-build your own. You can add different things toppings to make the pizza more to your liking - the sky's the limit. This is my new favorite fast-food pizza place, and it has reasonable prices. HEADS UP WHEN CHANGING ONE OF THEIRS PIES FROM THE MENU - make sure you say the word "ADD" or they will skip some of the ingredients, it happened to me. read more

I used to be a fan of Blaze, but I simply cannot support this establishment any longer. I went in on a Sunday night, well before closing, to order a build-your-own pizza. I asked for gluten free crust and I watched as the employee pressed the dough down in the same machine as the normal dough. Thank god my allergy is a small intolerance, but people with celiac disease would be in the hospital! I noticed that the dough had holes in it too and when I asked about it, I was told "that's just how it is". Annoyed, I chose to let it go and continue with my order. I asked for olive oil and garlic instead of any marinara or pesto sauce and the employee drizzled olive oil without spreading any of it. When I asked him if he could spread it he just stared at me and didn't say anything. I finally just said "that's fine" and continued with my order. When the pizza finally came out of the oven, I watched as the last employee cut my pizza with the same pizza cutter as the normal dough. Again with the allergies! Not to mention the pizza cutter had remnants of bell peppers and tomato on it. When I was handed my pizza I was not asked if I wanted any extra topping or side sauces. I asked for ranch and the girl slammed it down on the table without even looking at me. Lastly, my pizza was EXTREMELY salty, I could barely stand to eat it. I will not be returning to Blaze and will advise all my friends to join me in dining at competitors such as Pizza Press and Mod Pizza from now on. read more

Maybe it was the lunch time rush, but it was extremely chaotic behind the windows today. Staff don't seem to be communicating well with each other, and everyone was switching back and forth between different tasks frantically (they themselves looked frustrated at times). I couldn't tell who was handling my order or who's asking me questions because the handoff was so haphazard. I understand they have to wear masks and I appreciate that, but they need to figure out a better way to communicate more clearly with each other and to the customers. read more

My wife ordered 10 pizzas on line today for my birthday celebration to save time from waiting in line. Needless to say, it was quite disappointing to know that if you want it done right, you have to be there in person! - BBQ chicken pizza: it was so thin and almost burnt, 8 pieces of chicken, no smoked ham as ordered and barely any BBQ sauce. - Pepperoni/sausage pizza - I requested that 1/2 of the pizza had vegi. Well, the tomato & pineapple were on the whole pizza. Granted, tomato & pineapple technically are fruits, but who knew that on this pizza someone actually put some thought into figuring it out that these 2 items are not vegi so let's put them all over the pizza! - GF smoked ham/chicken/spinach/parm/mozarella/spicy marinara - it literally has the just sauce, cheese, a few of the rest of the ingredients on 3/4 of the pizza! Extremely pathetic looking pizza that my son had to take the toppings off of 3 slices to put on 1 slice so that he can have some toppings! - There was also another pizza with smoked ham x 2 - well, it would have been nice if there was at least some ham on it, but it again LITERALLY no ham at all let alone twice the amount. Four pizzas out of 10 were pathetically prepared! You are at UCI so you should know that's 60% - Not even a passing grade! The rest of the pizzas weren't that enjoyable. I understand that you are busy, but where is the Quality control? Why do I have to be there in front of you, babysitting you, to make sure that the order is correct? Where is the pride in your product? Anyone who is reading this, be warn that when you order online with some specificity, forget about it. If you really want to get pizza from here, then get in your car or however you do it, but do it in person. That will guarantee that you'll get what you order because ordering on line is a crap shoot with this place! I do like Blaze. Though this location is frequented by lots and lots of college students, I occasionally see another "oldie" in there like me (you know who you are - you smile at the antics of the college students, remembering what it was like back in the day). I love being able to customize, customize, and then customize some more. When I ask for a little extra of one or another topping, they are always happy to please. I think it's amazing that I've never gotten someone else's pizza - they've got a great system for tracking the orders, even when at their busiest with lines out the door. Even their desserts are great. But one aspect I really appreciate is that the ingredients are good and fresh, and they have natural sodas too. I wonder if Blaze would consider doing custom dessert pizzas??? That's the only way to really put them over the top! read more

It really forces me to leave one star as I have left a -5 if could. On November 9 last Friday I visited the Blaze Pizza in Irvine. The place was dirty from floor to tables, no place to sit, the lemonade drink station out of 6 dispensers, 4 were empty. The sneeze guard by the guy who cuts the pizza was so greasy that I almost dropped my plate as I was not able to pick it up. The whole place was awful to put it mildly. If I was a health inspector that place would have been shut down for extreme dirt and cross contamination. Never again will set foot in that filthy place. read more

Employees said "yea, we've been out for a long time". Absolutely not a shock at all. This location is absolutely terrible. 1) Employees are Rude. 2) Prep space is dirtier than a garbage can. 3) They do not manage/practice safe food handling practices. 4) Managers do not care. 5) They do not manage their inventory properly & run out of critical pizza toppings. Besides the long lines, long walk to restaurant from parking lot, pricy pizza, and stuffy crammed wait area; my listed grievances above just cannot be overlooked. Do yourself a favor and stay far clear of this joke of a pizza place. There's 30 other choices within a 10 mile radius. I ordered online and went to pick it up at the Yorba Linda location when they told me after 15 minutes of more waiting that they ran out of cheese. I decided to wait since the person informed me that the person will be back with more cheese soon. After waiting for another 40 minutes, my pizzas were finally made with missing toppings and added drizzles that I did not ask for. The service was terrible and they did not even offer to refund or anything after messing up my order and waiting almost an hour. read more

This restaurant was 5 stars when it first opened. Then it changed management, lowered customer service standards, and served an inconsistent product (mixed toppings, less toppings, overcooked, undercooked, not cut throughly, cut with a cutter covered in other pizza's toppings). I once complained about my one topping pizza having 3-5 toppings (mostly from the cutter - yes, I did specify "clean cut"). They offered to remake it but pointed out, it make take up to 12 minutes due to a long line and online orders. Heard some great things about Blaze - I chose it for our Friday office lunch because they had goat cheese and vegan cheese for employees that have allergies. Ordered online, on the online order it says that if you order (6) or more pies that they would fire them up prior to check in if they were busy. Didn't happen. Had to wait there for 20 minutes to get our pizzas. The other reviews were correct - you can stand there at the register waiting to check in and you will get NO eye contact. The girl that finally did help me wasn't rude per se, more like very apathetic. No smile, no friendly greeting. The only person there that had any customer service savvy was the upbeat gentleman boxing up pizzas and calling out pick up orders. That said, the pizza was just OK. The crust was way too thin for my taste and I almost broke my tooth trying to chew on a piece of crust. I may try the Fashion Island location just to see if maybe it was the staff, but I sure as heck will not be returning to the one on Campus drive. read more
