Had this for lunch today and I do have to say it's pretty good. Pieology has a better gluten free crust though, it's slightly sweet and thicker than Blaze which is kinda bland and too thin (even though I love thin crust) and tough. Make your own pizza means you pick the sauce and toppings... Spicy pizza sauce, pepperoni, sausage, bacon, olives, banana peppers, jalapeños, roasted garlic, and red onions made for a delicious pizza. My pizza wasn't really cut well though and the edges were burnt, but everything else was good. We ate outside and it was annoying that the employees cleaning outside don't mind the guests and because he was chatting with a female friend while on duty, somehow he was cleaning the table, bent over but reacted by jutting his butt out, almost jumping back, when he was talking and nearly hit me. I can't say I've really been wowed by this place. The service is hit or miss for me. I went on a Monday afternoon (not too busy), ordered their "link" pizza with some additions, and asked the girl at the end of the line for mushrooms on my pizza. My mushrooms were not added, I guess because I didn't ask for it on the right side of the assembly line. If you want the toppings you requested, then make sure you pay attention to where they are on their assembly line because otherwise your request may be ignored. Was asked to leave a review of my experience; here it is: - almost every pizza crust I saw at the head of the line was too thin and was broken around the crusts - as a result, the pizzas could not hold up toppings and were burnt both on top and on the bottom - when I brought this concern up to the manager/supervisor (the male with the long braid), I got attitude about it, and he essentially said there's nothing he can do - despite having so many employees on shift, the line was slower than any blaze I've ever been to - it's actually so sad how much is wasted at this blaze, from raw pizza crusts to entire burned pies into the trash I know this is a college town, but this is unacceptable. If it had been just slow or just inconsistent I could deal with it, but management's attitude towards the issues is not ok. I will not be returning here. read more

On a Sunday night, this place was pretty busy. There were around 15ish people waiting in front of me and it didn't take too long to get to the front. The pizza came out not too long after and I was able to find an empty table. The pizza was delicious but I think the mozzarella cheese was making my pizza a little too salty. read more

I have to highlight the service in this review and not necessarily the food, even though that was pretty good. I stopped by this Blaze location as I was doing some sightseeing around Irvine on my way from Mission Viejo back to LA. I will mention that it's nice there is complimentary 2-hour parking and that it's relatively easy to enter and exit the shopping center / food court by car. I was warmly greeted upon entry and ordered a 2-topping pizza. The team member who took my order was so friendly and patient while I decided what I wanted. This is great because far too many fast casual or sit-down restaurants like to rush you for some reason. Moving on, I checked out at the end of the counter and the cashier was even friendlier! Really nice guy who asked how I was doing and what I had done that day (I usually don't look like a tourist so I think he was genuinely asking how my day was haha). I got italian sausage and pineapple. The pizza was cooked in about 10 minutes and was of pretty generous portions. It was soft, but not doughy, and had a great flavor with lots of cheese. For $8, I have zero complaints! There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and the bathrooms were very clean. A+ service from everyone I interacted with. Thanks! read more

We went here on Sunday night 10/6/19 to order a pizza to go and they asked us to eat there because they ran out of boxes. They said there were only half boxes left and we were ok with it. When we got our pizza, we asked for to go boxes, and the guy gave ONE SINGLE half box for our entire pizza. When we asked for sauce, he angrily spraying sauce on the pizza and some of the sauce got onto our clothes as well. We saw that they had big boxes again and asked for one, the guy said no, they were for online customers only or something, but we clearly ordered and got our pizzas first. And we clearly stated the pizza was for take out when we ordered it as well. Build your own pizza for ~$8! I personally do not like their spicy red sauce, so I recommend getting their regular red and/or white sauce! Great variety in cheeses and meats. The line is usually out the door for lunch during the week and during the weekend! Service is usually pretty good with lots of workers and the assembly line moves pretty quickly. I usually finish just half and take the rest home! They have boxes on the side for any leftovers! The crust is pretty thin, so don't pile on TOO many meats and veggies, because it gets all soggy and limp. This place is so good. The bread is so fluffy and flaky, the tomato sauce is very creamy, and the toppings taste very fresh. Compared to Pieology, my experience is a lot better here, but I must say that they aren't as generous with the toppings. This is because they don't do the unlimited toppings like how Pieology does. This isn't like your normal to-go pizza place like Pizza Hut and Dominos. It falls in the same group as Pieology and Project Pie. So far in this category, it is definitely the best in its class. Only complaint... line is too long, but thry can't fix that. It's just too good. read more

After playing mini golf my boyfriend and I came here to end his birthday festivities. I hadn't eaten here since I lived in isla vista during my "blaze" days if you will. This place use to be my light night heaven and after a while I ate it so much I thought I could never eat here again but a few years have passed and it was one of the only places left open so we went for it! And the idea of building his own pizza sounded cool to my boyfriend, as he had never been before. Atmosphere is just like the others filled in university center, full of late night college students, lots of seating inside and outside. The line was quick too even though it was still pretty busy at 10pm. The place however was a mess. Including the pizza area. I looked in the glass and there was just sauce everywhere, toppings spilled over into other toppings, stuff floating in the sauces. Service- I think they were tired maybe? At times they were friendly when in conversation but when not they were spacing out. Also they were pretty messy at making the pizzas. We both got half and half and they kept putting stuff onto the wrong side and he even left a good little chunk of my pizza with no sauce. Also getting sauce all over the crust. It was like watching someone color outside the lines. Food- it's good. If you don't go to heavy on the build your own other wise it gets soggy( I knew this from past experiences luckily) a lot of the toppings looked like they had been out all day also. Other then that I was pleased. Brought me back to some good days and my boyfriend enjoyed it as well. He kept saying " I made the best pizza ever" Over all it was a good ending spot for our night! Can't say I'll be back here as much as I once use to frequent it but it was a nice little throw back. Went in on Saturday dinner rush and pleasantly surprised to see a moving line that was very proactive in changing their gloves for my son's allergies. Solid pizzas made quickly at an affordable price. This is like the subway or chipotle of pizza. Although the pizzas may seems small, the quality is high for what you pay and it's actually pretty filling. I ended up getting the green stripe and added onions. The wifey got the art lover. So good! It was restaurant quality without the wait or high prices. Both pies were very different, but I liked the art lover slightly more because of the generous portions of ricotta cheese. mmmm After I paid, I went straight for the lemonade and blood orange lemonade. After I filled the cups, the pizzas were already finished! In my opinion, the lemonades are way too sweet, so I end up mixing them with the iced tea. First one was Ubereats orders the pizza came in The pizza sides were burned and the add-ons were little so I assume or maybe they were busy . I tried again yesterday Its was Pick up and I ordered the 14" Pizza for 19.99 chicken and other veggies , When I opened the box you cant see the chicken actually I had to look for it, I thought they mixed my order+ the sides are black burned . Don't order here! Long time patron here and our family has loved blaze over the years. The last 2 online orders have been terrible. Our pizzas arrive cold. The orders are wrong. And there are no sides that we selected. I called to complain and a customer service rep named Kathy told me, "At least you got pizza. We can't guarantee anything else." Really? Tonight me and my friend had the idea to go to blaze and we were super excited about it because it sounded so good. When we looked up the hours we were so worried because we didn't think we would make it on time but the employees working at the time were very welcoming and nice about taking our order even though we were about a minute away from closing. The pizzas turned out amazing especially because of an employee named Mike. He made some awesome suggestions and even gave us an extra ranch because he know we'd want it, and we did, so thank you Mike. My 17 year old found a hair in the pizza, inside the cheese to be exact. I let him handle the issue. He said there was no word of apology from any of the staff members he encountered. They seemed annoyed and just offered to re-make his pizza. He thought perhaps they should have asked how he'd like to be compensated for their hygiene oversight. After what happened to his original order, he did not feel like eating pizza from Blaze. My son has work experience in the food industry, and he feels this should have been handled better. read more

Avoid this location at all costs!! It took me 1 hour and 5 minutes to receive my last order. I ordered on the app before leaving home and then waited 40 mins in store to get my order. It took 3 attempts of me asking staff before they finally completed my order. The pizza itself was fine, the service however is not worth the wait. The staff did nothing on their own to try and work out why I was standing there for so long, while everyone else who ordered after me kept getting their order! It shouldn't be my job to manage their business or staff. Terrible terrible service from staff, with no apology or offers from management. Reading the other reviews it seems that poor service from staff at this location is common. I offered to provide direct feedback to the manager, but they declined. read more

I have been to a few Blaze locations and typically they are great, but I would avoid the one here at University Center. First it took 30 minutes to make 3 pizzas even though the place was dead. Then my pizza had barely any toppings on it. I was lucky if I got a piece of chicken on each slice. When asked why so little and why it was taking so long the guy just shrugged and said, " it just is". Wow! Won't be back. read more
