I walked in at 9:30 p.m. when they closed at 10 p.m. and was standing in the back of the line when one of the employees came up to only me and told me that they were closed for the night. I was already in line waiting in the restaurant and there was 30 minutes left until closing so I was confused to why they decided to cut it off at me, when there was no one in line behind me. I have worked in food service for many years, so I understand not wanting last minute customers before closing, but this was unprofessional. Build your own pizza for under $9 seems like a good deal to me! I usually don't care much for pizza but Blaze is so good, I've been converted. I love that they have so many selection for toppings! We normally live going to blaze pizza. But today was an unpleasant experience. When going to a fast food restaurant one would expect it to be fast. I understand each pizza is individually made so it does take extra time. But waiting in line for 45 minutes to get to the ordering window was painful. I asked the manager why is it taking so long? His response to me was there are a lot of online orders and they are understaffed. For a busy Saturday afternoon and not having enough employees makes us not want to return to this restaurant. This was the worst blaze experience I have ever had. My mom and I are at Hoag visiting my dad who had surgery and decided to Postmate our favorite pizza place. Never had a blaze give us the pizzas that this one did. So apparently if you're not there, these people don't care to make your pizza the way you ordered it! My mom ordered a build your own with jalapeños and sausage and it came with no toppings on 3-4 of the slices and maybe 5 jalapeños and 5 pieces of sausage. I got a BYO pizza with spinach, mushrooms, roasted garlic and pesto drizzle and it showed up with absolutely no garlic or pesto drizzle. While the food was alright, as many other reviewers have noted, the service was terrible. I visited a few nights ago around 8:00 PM (3 hours before they close). Three separate items I wanted on my pizza (ham, cherry tomatoes, and feta cheese) were out of stock. In addition, the employees seemed to be very negative and were not working with any urgency considering the long line. The lobby was also a complete mess, with multiple trash cans beginning to overflow with trash and several dirty tables. We love Blaze pizza, but every time we order from the UCI location, we always get a bad experience. They always mess up on our order and they are never on time. We scheduled to pick up the order at 6:15pm, but when we arrived, only 2 pizzas were ready and we had to wait another 15 minutes for the 3rd pizza. The service at this location is terrible. I guess good customer experience and accuracy is not what Blaze strives for. We ordered 1 cheese, 1 pepperoni and 1 red wine pizza, but when we got home, we got 2 cheese and 1 pepperoni. This is a great spot for a quick, tasty pizza and enough uniqueness that your out-of-town guests will probably enjoy it as well. If you've never been before, this is sort of the Subway concept of ordering applied to pizza. You can determine whether to select one of Blaze's signature pizzas or build your own from scratch. The very well-trained staff make your pizza for you as you go down the line. There is not an additional charge for toppings. If you make your own there are also several different sauces to choose from. Our pizzas were $7.75 each. The crust is very thin which enables them to "fast fire" them in an oven in about 100 seconds (or so the sign says). My crust was cooked perfectly and the pizza was hot and very good. It was placed in a to-go box right after being cut so it was easy to take the leftovers. The to-go boxes have a removable lid so it makes a very nice dish to eat the pizza out of if you are staying in the restaurant. From what I've seen the place can get quite busy but customers move through the line pretty quickly. There's no need to tip really so you can out with a nice meal (including a drink) for under $10. The size of the pizza seemed just right to me for a dinner meal (I think I would have some leftover if this was at lunch). To be clear, this isn't New York, Chicago or Neapolitan pizza. It's a unique thin-crust, quickly cooked pizza that fits the model that Blaze has developed for quick service, good quality and a nice value. My advice would be to pile on the toppings if you like that style of pizza. I come here on a regular basis. It's my go-to spot for friends and lunch meetings. I consider it better than Mod and other knockoffs. Lately the service has gone downhill. Two trips ago - the line was outrageously long (& it was before the lunch rush on a Thursday). When we finally reached the front to place our orders - we learned the dough machine was broken. I placed my order online at 3pm today for a 545pm pickup. I recieved a confirmation that the pizzas were ready for pickup. At 615pm , when I went to pickup, I was told they werent ready. Their system states I placed the order at 525pm ( I think that is when the order was printed). Either way the pizzas werent ready well after I placed the order & received confirmation. Finally 4hrs after placing my order, I left with all my food at 7pm. I have tried several of these build-your-own pizza places, including Pieology, Project Pie, and The Pizza Press. Of all of these, Blaze is my favorite. The employees really understand the concept of "service with a smile". I opted to build my own pizza. What really stood out for me in comparison to the rest of the other pizza joints like this was the crust (I love thin crust) and the pizza sauce. The regular red sauce is so flavorful here and the ingredients are fresh. Very good selection too. Added mozzarella, parmesan, salami, bacon, green bell peppers mushrooms, tomatoes, and pesto drizzle. So tasty I would get it again in a heartbeat. read more

Cooked fast and open late. I like what I consider the "Chipotle style" of making food fast, so it makes me happy when I do not have to wait for half an hour for my pizza. The lines can be long, but they move pretty fast. I like that they will now top it with anything you want because originally this was not the case. They make a thin crust pizza and they have a gluten-free option. They have signature pizza options if you do not want to make decisions but I always build my own pizza. I like the spicy marinara but they also have a red and a white sauce. There is a good number of meats, cheeses and toppings and they cook their pizzas pretty fast. I would also suggest getting their blood orange soda, and I do not drink soda! There is plenty of parking in the UTC parking lot and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I normally love Blaze Pizza but this location needs some training. It was packed when I went and took 10 min for me to get to the first person to greet me and it seemed they were taking their time compare to other locations. A few of the male employees had female name tags on lol. I finally got my pizza after 10 min which is still fast but not as fast as other locations. Some of the sodas on the soda machine weren't available and the tables were messy. I hope I can come back and have a better experience. The pizza is really good for the price. read more

A disheartening search-Yes, there is vegan pizza at a place called..vegan pizza in Garden Grove. But I'm in Irvine and have class in 90. Well, I took a risk and went to Blaze. I decided to try Blaze because "create your own pizza" has been the latest craze. I've tried 800 Degrees in Westwood and Pieology (which also in Irvine) and I'd have to say that Blaze is the worst. Even after cooking the pizza the crust was so soggy that the slice wouldn't even hold its shape. There was so much excess water from the veggies and sauce that it soaked through the wax paper. I'd suggest that they perfect their dough and thoroughly draining their veggies... Especially for thin crust pizza! Other than that, the price is a reasonable $8, and when I went around 6pm there wasn't a long wait. Even Lebron James came to try their pizza while he was in town.... And I wonder what he thought of it!? O_o read more

Chipotle for pizzas, except with unlimited ingredients and fresh quality. You choose from their pre-set pizzas or build your own. Sauces are white, classic, or spicy red. Then cheeses - plenty to choose from, including my favorite fresh mozzarella ovalini. Then move on to meats - my favorites are Italian meatball and pepperoni. They've got bacon, turkey meatballs, sausage, ham etc. everything is fresh and broken down into delicious morsels. Next up is veggies - I go for pineapple, basil, roasted garlic, cherry tomatoes, and mushrooms. Then bake! At the end, you can too with a sauce (pesto!). The pizzas are generous in portions and affordable. You get unlimited toppings for a set price. Thin crust so it's more carb-friendly, and located in the convenient university center. So you generally get your own 10ish inch pizza, and dress it up (or down) however you desire. Sort of like the subway of pizza making lol. You slide down the line and at the end they stick it in the fire oven and you wait until they call you with your piping hot custom pizza ready to go! The cooking time/wait is quite short, it seemed like all of five minutes but it was probably closer to 10 or more. The staff is very friendly, and the prices are very reasonable here. You can easily have a pizza and drink for under 10 bucks. Yeaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The variety of toppings is on the slightly esoteric side for pizza toppings but that is what makes it all the more interesting of an experience. You can keep it plain, or add a bunch of toppings to your liking. There's 8 or 10 prenamed combos of toppings you can pick from, or you can build your own.
