Location is great and convenient, although parking may be slightly limited and we parked down the street. The service was very friendly and the food was stellar. Absolutely loved this place! I wish there were more spots like this when I lived in Baton Rouge for school. We had the crab cakes, bacon jam Brie spread, and the steak & potato board for 4. Would have loved to review the food but I called as soon as they opened at 11am and asked to make reservations and was told they don't accept two person reservations and that it wouldn't be "too busy tonight." Grazed at BLDG 5 for lunch today. Ordered the chicken with Argentinian chimichurri sauce and roasted Brussels sprouts. The plate also came with rustic bread and their ancient greens. For such a "simple" plate of food, everything was delectable. The chicken was juicy with a light, smoky taste...and the sauce took it to a whole other level- just the right amount of garlic and spice. The roasted Brussels sprouts were tender, perfectly cooked. Very good sausage and chicken gumbo. Not the best I've ever had. Did have a good amount of sausage and chicken but I found the gumbo to be a little watery. Also had the Cajun Pork stew for lunch. Was pretty good overall. I like my stew to be a little hotter but it was tasty. My only comment would be they used sticky rice or forgot to wash the starch off the rice. I was impressed with this place from the moment I walked in the door. It is located directly underneath the Perkins road overpass and as soon as I stepped inside this little unassuming building, it was like being transported into another world. The restaurant is decorated so beautifully and elegantly that it really makes you feel like you're in a special place. The food was amazing as well, we had an appetizer spread served with fresh toasted bread slices, and I had the porchetta sandwich for my meal. Everything tasted delicious and looked the part as well. I kept watching other people's food go by and thinking how good it all looked. The service was also fantastic, the whole staff was very friendly and welcoming. The waitress helped with questions about the menu as it is a little different from other, more traditional restaurants. We got another app, it was the bread with a bacon jam, and was also amazing! I've never had bacon jam but it was flavorful and delicious. For a meal, we got the steak and potato board. All of the boards were tasty, flavorful, and had a fun variety- I never got bored! They also have great vegan/vegetarian/pescatarian options if your party is looking for accommodations. And that is where Bldg5 truly shines! The cocktail experience is the combination of great spirits and a great bartender. I explained to him that I was on a huge mescal kick and he rolled out a yet to be named cocktail that was both fresh yet boozy. I had the porchetta sandwich and I'm not sure I'll have as good of an experience with a porchetta sandwich again. This place opened a few weeks ago and my friends and I finally got a chance to check it out. I've seen pictures of a beautiful patio, but it was raining so we sat inside. The inside is a bar, a restaurant and a little market store all in one. Such a trendy vibe. The cocktail list is exceptional! And they have homemade lemonades that you can mix with any type of alcohol. I got the Caipirinha and absolutely loved it. As a table we split a couple of their "grazing boards" and a couple sandwiches and it was all divine. The presentation of the food is a work of art. The prices weren't bad at all. This is a great drinks and tapas place. We have gone twice and have been underwhelmed by their portions; how're we the flavors are there and everything is made in house. The last time we went was for our anniversary and unfortunately they were out a pastry chef (for a few weeks at the time). We would have loved so champagne and dessert for our anniversary but we were seated near the bar and served by the bartender (he was lovely) but equally busy making drinks.
