Very nice upscale restaurant/bar vibe with friendly people in Hilton Capitol hotel lobby. Paid parking right across the street. On a Tuesday night received excellent service from the bartender (was alone so ate at the bar). Drinks were appropriately strong. I tried the blackened redfish for $30 and while it looked good, it was overcooked and not terribly flavorsome. Definitely did not enjoy it. The service was good enough that I will likely return on a future visit and try a burger or something else from the menu that requires less skill to cook properly. The next morning, I ordered room service biscuits and gravy which was shockingly bad. An old stale biscuit split with about an ounce and a half of weird brown gravy. I later found out that in Baton Rouge they don't do white sausage gravy so maybe that's my mistake but I wanted to give everyone a warning! Whether you're from Baton Rouge or not, you'd have to be starving to eat it! Food alone would give it a one star, but given the excellent service and the ambience gets a three this time read more

Great bar environment to unwind but food fell short. We ordered a French Dip-all the sandwiches listed if it had any spread but the French Dip made no mention so when it came it was coveted in some type of white spread which tasted nasty-unrecognizable! We couldn't even scrape it off the meat so it went uneaten bc no one came around to check. The hush puppies were ok , cheese grits cold, the Mac n cheese not good, fries decent but everything was lukewarm to cool. Waste of money but too late to go elsewhere! The redfish was really good, the pecan pie and my daughter's bread pudding even better, but the service by the bartender was the best!.

The evening bar service was good the food was really nothing special your average bar food. I will not recommend their breakfast or brunch fare. Very disappointing and really bad service. Dirty tables waiters had no idea how to order or serve especially off the breakfast menu. read more

Formally the Kingfish Lounge, the now re-branded Kingfish Bar & Grill is the de-facto option for anyone stuck at the Hilton and craving some kind of food and drink. While I wouldn't call this place a destination by any means, it is okay enough when staying at the hotel. It's part lounge, part restaurant, and now branded to include the breakfast buffet, which happens between 6:30AM-10:00AM daily. The restaurant feels smaller than it looks, but is modestly spacious enough for small groups. The white tablecloth feel in the dining room is mad cheesy, but I think I prefer the lounge area which is next to the bar. When it comes to the F&B (#1), I would lean on the B side side in a big way. The steaks / seafood are definitely subpar. I think their crawfish linguini ($17) or the redfish rouge ($20) are the two entrees I'd go for if I had. I would consider their bar area a solid place to pre-game for a night out in downtown. It could also work as a night cap in certain scenarios but most of the nearby nightlife spots serve cheaper drinks. The service is not going to impress, which is I what I thought hotel establishments excelled in the most. Perhaps if I had to go back, it'd only be the breakfast buffet. Great food I had the seafood platter everything was fresh and it came out fast. The ball was fully stocked and had some really good drinks.

The service was as good as can be expected when 2 people are waiting on about 100 people! This is a BAR NOT a place to eat and should be ONLY a bar! It's a hotel lounge that's trying to take on the role of restaurant too so spreads the 2, Yes...TWO workers responsibilities way too thin! The management should see these 2 hard workers running around bartending, serving tables, busting tables, taking orders and cleaning tables...it was crazy! The food was not good! The batter used to fry everything was way too salty...Stick to drinks in the hotel bar and open the restaurant side Hilton....or just keep it drinks! We stopped in the kingfish lounge at the Hilton during an overnight stay. We had free vouchers for an appetizer and one cocktail forye each of us. However, the appetizer menu was limited and we didn't use the drink voucher at all - only for house wine (and there was only one) or beer on tap. None of which were remotely appealing: we did have fried green beans for the appetizer and they were delicious. We both had custom cocktails and they were skillfully made and very tasty. My husband said that was the best oood fashion he ever had. Staff was delightful, setting was cozy. Would have had 5 stars if the vouchers were useable or if the menu was bigger and better. read more

The worst meal I've had in a very very long time. The service was atrocious, I sat in the bar and two bartenders on duty literally stared at me without ever once asking if I wanted water, dessert,, or the check. I had to go up to request it. The skirt steak was disgusting, I could have used a chain saw to cut it, it was like eating a leather belt. I've eaten in many a hotel bar while traveling for work and this was the worst experience ever. read more

Came here spontaneously because I was staying at the hotel and did not want to venture far to eat dinner. To my surprise they had a happy hour special for drinks and appetizers - score!! I ordered the Bon Temp Shrimp and the Hummus Plate. The shrimp were really tasty but the hummus plate was full of veggies with a dollop of hummus. Drinks are pricey in this hotel bar. But they have a good selection of liquors and 2 abitas on draft, so bonus points for that. The bartenders were really fun and got involved with our ridiculous conversations adding to the absurdity. I know they serve snacks but I didn't get any and bonus points for being smoke free. read more

All I wanted was the chocolate mousse cake as my evening snack. I go to my room, relax for an hour then get in my PJs and open my cake yum yum yum NOT! They covered it with raspberry collis!! I know this makes me sound old...but you know what? I am kind of old(-ish). No woman in her late 30's wants to deal with waving her $20 at the bartender like she's flagging down a taxi. This is a civilized but fun place to enjoy your cocktail that is not named after a sexual position. You rub elbows with the Mayor here...not a kid in an Ed Hardy shirt and an upsidedown, askew, visor. Being a grownup has it's moments and I recommend stealing a few at the Kingfish. read more

Very stylish and chic little bar at the hotel I was staying at. They had a decent selection of Scotch, and I tried a couple of glasses ($28....should I have an exclamation point here?). This bar is open until 2am (although they may lock the street doors, you can always enter from inside the lobby of the hotel). Their bar snacks are nice (Chex mix type thing). The bar is nice, but I really liked the couches and cool-looking chairs surrounding the bar. This is where I sat and worked on my laptop (they have free wifi). Downtown is fairly limited for things to do (I swear it's like a ghost town down here!), but this is a decent option for chilling. read more

Waiting on some friends...(That was my Yelp tip)...They were staying at the Capital Center Hilton adn this is the hotel bar....very nice!! Drink prices seemed a bit stiff but the drink they poured was stiff too....so I can't complain too much. Classy little place with an intimate feel...comfy stools at the bar and the couches and chairs grouped into little pods appeared relaxing and emphasized the intimate feel... 1st time ever stepping into this place and I liked it....was just there to kill time whilst waiting so didn't scope much out beyond the drinks and price of same...don't know if they offer bar food or snacks but if I find myself downtown I'll never have an issue stepping back in and tipping a couple to wet my whistle... read more

The kingfish is a good little lounge outside the Kingfish restaurant. the drink prices were maybe a touch above what I thought they should be but not exorbitant. Do not wander over the restaurant next door though unless you want a complete lack of service. read more

Amazing service! Jen and Amanda provided the best service ever. We were visiting for a wedding, an airlines lost our luggage(AA), and we were bummed. But these two women made our day! I feel terrible because I had an awesome bartender and now I can't remember her name. Of course, that could be a testament to how good her blueberry martini's were. I believe her name started with a L. So if you're in town and staying at the Hilton or nearby, stop in The Kingfish Lounge for a nice time. The bartenders are really friendly and are not afraid to make sure you keep your glass full. They even give you little snacks so that you can prolong stopping the party to get food. I really did enjoy my short stay-cation at the Hilton and I will not hesitate to stop in again soon. read more

Bar area and service excellent. But food menu choices not so good. Ordered the Veg. Stir fry, I do not recommend this at all....there was only 1 broccoli floret and rest was lg chunks of the stems. My table agreed these veggies came from a frozen medley bag like I buy in the freezer section. Taste wasn't enticing at all. read more
