This place is incredible! From the ambience to the delicious food selections to the strong tasty drinks. My go-to meal is the grilled chicken breast with rice, beans, and sweet plantains. You can't go wrong with any of the frozen drink options, however, I decided to go with a pina colada. I went back here a short time after the first time for takeout. Yes, this restaurant is that irresistible! Despite going with the same meal selection, I switched my drink option to the passion fruit & mango Margarita. Best decision of my life! Went to BLEND on a Sunday during Brunch hours, nice atmosphere & ambiance for Family or a Date night. The staff was pleasant enough. The Food was DELICIOUS! I had the pernil plate and a Margarita mixed with Sangria that was really good. Definitely would go back to eat again. read more

I was in the area and came here based on a recommendation by a friend. I had checked out their menu online and scanned my choices, all of which were very tempting. I decided on the Queso de Cabra Salad with grilled chicken and avocado. The salad composed of mixed greens, spicy pecans and crispy goat cheese with a sherry vinaigrette. The grilled chicken appeared to be seasoned with some kind of pesto- looking marinade and the goat cheese was deep fried. The meal was packaged in a plastic container within a very durable bag- the kinds that your mom thinks is a "good bag". The meal itself, carried well to my other destination and was one of the best salads I have had in a very long time. The portion appeared to be small, but was $13 and supremely filling. My only complaint was that since they have amazing food and the places was PACKED for a Friday afternoon at 1pm, order your food earlier. Despite preordering, I was waiting there for about 20 minutes because the cook was backed up. However, the wait staff is incredible and they even offered me a free can soda for the extended wait time. It was honestly a VERY nice gesture considering. Therefore, I am leaving by them 5 stars. This is a great casual Latin-fusion cuisine eatery situated on bustling Vernon Blvd in Hunters Point. Reservations aren't required and walk-ins are welcome. Came in at 8pm on a Saturday night and only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. Casual atmosphere with seating inside and outside in a covered area on the street. The food was reasonably priced and the food was pretty good. I had the tilapia, a side of chips and guac, and a Patronjito cocktail (very boozy). For dessert, we ordered the chocolate cake, which was a bit underwhelming to be honest. The service was a bit on the slow side because there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant (for both inside and outside seating) on a Saturday night and she was stretched pretty thin. She had a great attitude and was very nice though. She even both single-handedly presented a birthday cake and sang a Happy Birthday song (in a bright-eyed, very chipper way) for the table next to us. All I know is: Whatever they're paying her, it's not enough. Overall, I enjoyed eating here and will definitely be coming back for more casual nights out in the neighborhood. I just hope that they hire another person to help out with serving on busy weekends. read more

I'm never coming back here again. I got really bad food poisoning from the empanada sampler. I've never in my life threw up like this. I'm going on almost 24 hours since I last ate the food. It makes me sad to write this review because I've never had an issue here. The other people in my party had sandwiches and got sick too. The yucca fries made my mother sick. Thankfully the toddler with us didn't get sick. read more

Ordered the Lomo Saltado which was okay. The meat bits were flavorful but not very tender. I asked for the fries to be cooked well done but they were soggy AF. The mofungo con sofrita con pennil was also just okay. We decided to dine outdoors but definitely noticed a lack of service since we were the only ones outside. read more

I'm sorry Blend but I have to keep it real with you. You need to step it up in many aspects. Food: we ordered the Tapatizer sampler and that was the best part of the meal. It was big enough for 5-6 to try out. Since I wasn't that hungry I ordered the the shrimp mofongo appetizer. This was ok, the sauce tasted like ragú tomato sauce. The shrimp could've been seared a little longer for my liking , especially for this dish. The garlic shrimp was actually pretty good. -We ordered the skirt steak medium and although the inside was medium the steak was too charred and tasted burnt, not appetizing at all. My friend got the limo salteado and enjoyed it. Drinks: the drinks were not good at all. I got the coconut mojito and tried the guava, both just didn't donut for me. They had enough liquor but something was off with the flavor. No one at the table ordered second drinks which to me is a sign. Service: we made reservations and were seated immediately, however the overall service was shaky. There was one girl basically serving all the tables, she was overwhelmed which made the service subpar. Overall, this place is overrated and overpriced! I don't think I will be coming back, not to mention the parking situation is awful! read more

After a photo shoot hubby and I decided to enjoy the weather with a stroll and some dinner in LIC... we were in the mood for Latin food so this was the place we decided to try. Glad we did! We truly enjoyed this place. The ambiance was upscale-casual, friendly and modern. We went a little early, so it wasn't at all crowded... was a perfectly pleasant place to eat dinner. I had the chicken dish they're known for (can't remember the name)... and it was excellent. The rice and beans were delicious, the chicken was perfectly cooked and flavorful and who doesn't love soft plantains with just about anything... so good! My husband had the bistec palomilla which is always a favorite of his. It seemed to be seasoned maybe more Dominican than Cuban (?) but it was still very good and he liked it a lot. Would definitely come back and have dinner here again... might have to try their Astoria location as well! read more

I wasn't super hungry when I came here, but I came here with a few friends. I thought the food was merely okay. I had the empanadas and I thought they were a bit dry. I will say to their credit, that the portion sizes are pretty big. The service was okay--not the most attentive, but friendly enough. Personally, I don't think I'll be back, but might be worth a try if you're in the area and looking for something convenient. read more

Lunchtime during Black Friday, many restaurants were still closed for the holidays. Luckily this spot was not only open, but had heated outdoor seating as well. Decided on the Guacamole and Chips ($8) to start. Moderate bowl of chunky guac with a handful of thick-cut tortilla chips. Could have been spicier yet the avocados tasted fresh. For the main course, ordered the Pernil ($15) - a combination of roast pork, sweet plantains, rice, beans, and a side salsa. Absolutely amazingly cooked meat - melt in the mouth and needing no extra sauce. Sweet plantains are also flavorful, not overly cooked and gave a balance to the dish. Beans and rice are nominal. Service did take some time as we were one of the only people outside, though very accommodating. Would like to try their brunch as well. read more

I came here for the first time and had a good time! It's a hidden gem in the heart of LIC, right next to the waterfront as well. Their menu is very diverse and have options for all cravings. I ordered the : Churrasco - This is a huge portion that comes with chimmichurri steak, plantains, rice + beans, and a side salad. I shared this with my date and we were full by the end of it. I do wish the meat was a bit more tender, but it wasn't dry by any means. Rice + beans were great and sweet plantains were amazing! Mofongo - I really enjoyed this! It is a huge portion and the sauce around it is more tomato-y. I would recommend adding meat to it! Overall, it was a great experience. Their happy hour drinks are cheap and delish, and the service was so quick and lovely! read more

Aside being thankful for the free meals they have been giving out during this difficult time and I tried chicken and rice one time but it was very good ... I had to stop in to try their sangria that a lot of people were raving about !!! I got to say I really enjoyed it and definitely worth the walk outside . I came to this location with my fiancee for a drink over the weekend. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The restaurant has a great aesthetic and was full of what looked like very happy patrons. The bartender and hosts were very nice and provided great service. We ordered both the classic mojito and cachaca. Both were refreshing with a decent pour. I think this place would be great for Happy Hour, as these were the quality of drinks provided. I don't think I would come back and pay full price. My review is solely based on drinks at the bar, so I will return to give the food and table service a try. read more

I've been to all 3 Blend's in Queens, and the best culinary experience you will have by far is at Blend LIC. The vibe is more family oriented which I love! The food is absolutely delish and their chef ROCKS! The food is consistently good and the portions are generous. I've tried their camarones al ajillo app, churrasco, lomo saltado, pollo a la plancha, and most recently I tried the paella. Literally everything on their menu is a must try! The camarones come with nice fresh warm toasted bread which is great for dipping it in the delicious sauce! The service is always wonderful as well! A special shout-out to the Manager, Roberto! He was super attentive as there was an issue with my reservation and he quickly was able to accommodate me, which I greatly appreciated! The bartenders Joselito and Brian served us delicious and strong drinks - I've tried the passion fruit mojitos and their margaritas, and both were just the right amount of sweetness. Recently I made my own drink and had a mezcal Manhattan which was amazing (see pic!). The lovely hostesses Justice and Melissa were both very professional and kind, and our server Keilah Marie was attentive and accommodating. The Busser, Servando, constantly refilled our water glasses and he definitely contributed to the excellent experience we had at Blend! A big THANK YOU to all the staff at Blend LIC for delivering a wonderful all-around experience to your customers! Came for a late night bite. We shared the tapatizer platter and the cubano. Tapatizer is the perfect late night shareable. Good for two to three people. In hindsight, we didn't need the cubano given how filling the platter was. Cubano was decent. The vinegar based sauce was a great compliment. Service was friendly, attentive, and quick. read more

Went to this restaurant after being turned down by Blend on the Water because one of my cousins had on a fancy woman's leather cap and Blend on the Water said " no baseball cap " on...( I will be writing a review on them and addressing that situation later) however it's my cousins and my birthday month and we always kick off the month with a celebration I was pleasantly surprised with this Blend location as I went to Blend Astoria last year for one of my birthday celebrations Fabian was our server and he was very attentive and patient with us as we decided what to eat.. we enjoyed the empanadas, viejo de ropa and another chicken dish..the frozen sangria wasn't frozen enough which he told us however I still enjoyed it This is a more casual vibe location and people had hats on here , but the music was good along with the service and the food was good I will be writing a letter to the general manager though about their sister location Definately check out Blend on Vernon Blvd read more

I usually love blend's Pernil but today it was a little dry ..I had the mazzorca and the pernil which came with white rice and beans it was ok I had a blue Hawaiian it needed more alcohol it just tasted like a blue drink they should work on that the service was good food was a 6 out of 10 the tables are really small you can't order a lot of food but all in all it was ok for lunch read more

I ordered lunch, and it was fine. I returned a few days later and said, I want to order the lunch special, but please, may I have less rice and more beans? The young lady at the door said we cannot do that; I said I really want less rice for health reasons. She said she could take the rice off the platter, but I would still be charged, and I could not have extra beans. For a 3rd time, I said that didn't make sense; she said the beans are in a container when served, so I said I don't put them in the container- she refused. I went to order and specifically said, the plaintains are $5 each I want 3 side orders. After leaving the restaurant, I saw they charged me $6 per order. I had asked for the same lunch special I had ordered before and instead of $8.95 it was $14.95 again, I saw this after I had left the restaurant so I called and asked to speak to a manager. The person said, oh we don't have mangers here right now they usually work out of our astoria store, you have to call them (really???) When I called the other store, I first asked about the bean to rice ratio. She advised that I should have been able to have my request for less rice and more beans filled. I then told her about the poor service and being overcharged. She said she would let the manager know but the other store should have a manager for that store. DO NOT GO TO BLEND in LIC!!!!! By the way, no one ever called me back read more

We dropped by here to celebrate my friends birthday. We are a lot before dinner so we shared the empanadas, mofongo, and the pernil. Service was good, and two apps were good. The issue was the pernil. I felt is was just a bit too dry, but the flavors were there. I was slightly disappointed by that. read more

Stopped by for brunch on a Saturday morning. Was very impressed with the brunch options. Opted for the arepas benedictos, which were the perfect blend of sweet and savory. The steak and eggs were delicious as well. Served with a generous portion of home fries and toast. I'd recommend getting the steak medium instead of well done since it was a little tough/chewy. After all of that, he finally approached us--not to seat us--but to ask, "How long are you going to take?" I replied, "Sir, we're here to eat." He responded that the side tables were for people watching the game. I explained that we were there to dine, as this is a restaurant. Even after we were seated, he avoided our table completely. He took the order of a table that had been seated after us while we continued waiting. About 20 minutes later, a female waitress noticed we had not been helped and took over our table. She was attentive, professional, and the only reason we received service. After placing our order, we waited about an hour for our entrées. The food was also underwhelming. The Papa a la Huancaína came with an excessive amount of sauce and very few potatoes. The Ceviche Mixto lacked the bright citrus flavor that ceviche should have. My grandmother, who is very familiar with Peruvian cuisine, found it bland, and even after taking it home we couldn't improve it. The Bistec Encebollado was slightly too salty for our taste. The beans simply weren't to my liking, though that's a matter of personal preference. Another issue is the dining room layout. The seating is extremely tight, to the point where it feels like you're almost elbow-to-elbow with the tables next to you, making the experience feel cramped. Overall, this visit was disappointing. Between the slow and inattentive service, the long wait for food, the cramped seating, and several disappointing dishes, the experience did not justify the visit. The female waitress deserves recognition for stepping in when we had been overlooked, but unfortunately she couldn't make up for the rest of the experience.

I think I was so upset at the customer service that I decided to make an account... The sitting as fast enough that I was able to sit just about anywhere and the waitress took more than 10 mins to come and say hello . Now I told her I was thinking about a drink and she said okay and brushed me off and never came back to ask me if I would like anything to drink at the moment there are 16 people inside and the two other persons I walked in ate and left . As for my food my food came and what was I going to eat with my fingers !! Smh nobody notice I has no utensils to eat with , now how do you miss not looking at the table . Food and drinks were good.My issue is when we asked for the bill instead of getting a printed receipt we got a verbal 'quote' that we owed $85. Then the waitress stood over us while we counted out cash (as if we were going to walk out we had 2 children under 2 with us, it's not like we're going anywhere in a hurry!). We asked for a printed receipt after we had paid only to be given a receipt for $73? When we asked why the amounts were different we were then printed a receipt with gratuity added to total $85. I have no problem with gratuity being added, and apparently it says so on the menu (not that we had time to read the whole menu with 2 toddlers) but to verbally tell us how much we owe without giving a receipt so that we can see for ourselves that gratuity is included is very shady. So desperate for money that you have to con people into giving you 40%? There seemed to be nothing wrong with your printers when you printed out both receipts after the bill was paid. I came back here tonight (Monday night) after Zee, the restaurant manager invited me back. Kayla was our server (and everyone else's server) and provided exceptional service. She took our order promptly, had good suggestions, and was super friendly. Kudos to her since she was the only server on a very busy night and I saw her hosting as well. You can never go wrong with the mojitos here and the passion fruit caipirinha just became my signature drink. I ordered the seafood paella and was impressed by the savory clams, they practically melted off the shell. The rice soaked up just enough of the sauce but was not soggy. There was a generous amount of seafood and chorizo and there was not too much or too little of one single thing. My boyfriend ordered the churrasco and was not disappointed. The only thing I liked about this place was the one drink I had. I would have had another but I was over this experience 20 minutes after being seated. The hostess didn't smile but did accommodate my request for a table in the back. Our server Edgar was more interested in flirting with the lady at the next table then paying attention to his other tables. If that wasn't enough the food was terrible. I religiously order the Cuban sandwich and it was nothing like the others. I love Blend in Astoria! I love Blend on the water! But this place was awful. I am usually forgiving about as long as the food is good but nah. Terrible. Terrible food. Terrible server! I think that's what makes me even angrier the fact that I am such a polite individual and the server only smiled when he dropped off the check and looked me right in the eye as I walked out and didn't bother even saying good night. I recently tried the lunch special here, and it's definitely worth it. The pernil is cooked perfectly, juicy and full of flavor, though it doesn't come with any skin. The maduros are soft, sweet, and perfectly caramelized, which pairs wonderfully with the rice and beans; they're both flavorful and comforting, the kind of sides that make a meal feel complete. The service was fine; attentive enough that I didn't have to ask for more water, which made the experience smooth. The staff is friendly and beautiful, Genisis was my server and she was quite attentive with me, she made sure all my needs were met. For appetizers we had the platter of 5 empanadas. we got a few cheese and chicken and it was super yummy and not greasy which i really liked. and it was just enough of a bite so i had room for dinner. i also had the mexican corn with mayo, cheese and paprika and it was so good! again, just the right size. Lastly for appetizers we had the mofongo - chicken and shrimp...SOOO good! really delicious flavor, not greasy and heavy. The sauce was very tasty. I really enjoyed this. WoW!!!! What a great place! I come by usally to get my favorite dish, the Pollo a la Plancha. I highly recommend it, tender and just plain delicious. You'll enjoy every forkfull. As a huge fan of Cuban cuisine or a sucker for Latin food in general, I have to say blend on Vernon blvd is among the best. I am a frequent visitor to the restaurant due to working in the area, and the service is second to none. A tray of lomo saltado, that came with a tray of white rice and a separate tray of French fries, a tray of rotisserie chicken and a tray of arroz chaufa (fried rice with eggs). The food was scheduled to be here at 3PM and by 315 we were serving the food and it was so hot, it didn't even need to be warmed up. They also provided us with a container of the famous green sauce. Everyone was raving about the food! You have to be Peruvian to understand that we are very picky and if someone says they like it you know their food is good. Honestly the massive trays of food ended ho feeding about 25 and we still had leftovers. The owner catered to my parents needs and we are so thankful everything came out as planned.
