Skip this spot; rude staff, underwhelming coffee, high prices. As mentioned in previous reviews it's nothing special. Would not return.

"She was born in spring But I was born too late…read moreBlame it on a simple twist of fate" (Bob Dylan) Well, it kind of looks like a convenience store from the outside. And it kind of looks like a convenience store from the inside. But if you look deeper into the interior, you'll see an ordering counter and a kitchen. That's because the Twisted Café REALLY is a café. It's open every single day from 7AM - 10PM serving breakfast bagel and croissant sandwiches, breakfast toasts, bowls, pastries, smoothies, specialty sandwiches, teas and coffees. There are racks of potato chips and the like, refrigerated cases with soda, juices, beer, energy drinks, and a few grocery items. There are a few tables and chairs inside and a few outside in the courtyard next to the Infinity hotel. We were two of a dozen relatives staying at Infinity, all in town for a wedding. Our group made quite a few trips into the Twisted Café for snacks , drinks, breakfast, sandwiches, etc. The day of the wedding, we didn't want a big lunch, so my wife and I split a Veggie Delight Sandwich ($14) with Hummus, avocado, provolone cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, everything bagel seeds, tomatoes, and arugula on toasted ciabatta bread. It was really loaded up thick with all of those goodies and was an excellent value for the price, quantity and quality. A bag of chips was $1.99 and a Cappuccino was $5. Pretty reasonable pricing as well. The service was excellent, from the cheerful gent at the morning counter to the smiling young lady at the afternoon counter. There is a big screen TV on their exterior wall facing the courtyard, and we saw a group of soccer fans watching the World Cup! That seemed very appropriate given the "community vibes" we felt at the Twisted Café.

Despite its size, it offers comfortable seating inside and out. Sitting inside, which is what I opted for, I could see the busy foot and car traffic pass by on Lombard Street. They offer a variety of breakfast options, and their Avocado Toast looked inviting, but I stayed with a cup of drip coffee. There was only one person behind the counter, and she welcomed me as soon as I walked in and took my order. The coffee was strong and flavorful, not too watery. I took my time sipping it while looking around the cafe from my seat. If I visit again, I would love to try their Avocado Toast and another hot cup of coffee here.

It had a very subtle matcha flavor, but I couldn't taste the grassiness. The sea green color was aesthetically pleasing when combined with the grassy matcha hue. As a drink, it is refreshing, but as a matcha latte, I felt there was too much milk, which drowns out the matcha flavor. 6/5 Kopi Klepon, Iced This was too delicious, I kept stealing sips from my partner (instead of drinking my own drink) and would order this one again. There was some coconutty sweetness, which added delicious complexity, and slight bitterness that pairs well with the sweet. In terms of flavor, this coffee drink rivals Vietnamese coffee. 4/5 Pandan Bolu This sponge cake-like pastry was springy and bouncy, with a medium green hue. Sadly, there was barely any detectable pandan flavor, but at least it was moist with a good texture. I'd come back if in the area and craving a strong, tasty coffee.

It was busy, but the line moved quickly and we were able to order after a short wait. Our desserts arrived right away, and our drinks followed about 10 minutes later. The service was remarkably friendly and warm. When I originally requested oat milk for my latte, the staff kindly mentioned that they use lactose-free milk by default. To help me decide, she even offered small samples of both the lactose-free pandan milk and the oat pandan milk to compare. That extra touch of hospitality was so appreciated! We ordered a few Kopi Pandans (with the default lactose-free milk) alongside a couple of their pandan desserts. The Kopi Pandan was brilliantly balanced--it had just the right amount of fragrant pandan without being overpowering or tasting grassy. Having tried my fair share of pandan drinks that missed the mark, I know how hard it is to get that flavor profile just right. Of the two desserts we tried, the Pandan Layered Cake slice was the standout. Kopi Kita Coffee also offers a few savory Indonesian snacks (like lemper and arem-arem), which I definitely look forward to trying on our next visit!

I've tried a lot of matcha lattes and I'd say that this one is up there in the ones I've had--I really enjoyed how it wasn't overly sweet and that you can really taste the matcha in it. My husband said he liked how smooth his cold brew was and that you can taste the notes of the coffee. The store itself is pretty small and has very limited seating. It is located right off the water though so it's the perfect spot to pick up some caffeine to take on a stroll. There was a bit of a line when we went, but it moved pretty quickly. So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright.
