I had a really disappointing experience at Union Street Coffee Roastery. We walked in around 4:30 PM and were immediately met with a very rude and unwelcoming attitude from the employee working. Instead of greeting us or explaining anything politely, he repeatedly rushed us, saying we needed to hurry up and order because they were closing soon. When I calmly asked what time they close, he avoided answering and instead said, "I need to get out of here," and told us to pay quickly so we could leave. What made it even more confusing was that there were still multiple people inside sitting and working on laptops, clearly not being rushed out the same way. When I asked about that, he rolled his eyes and essentially ushered us out the door. I completely understand businesses closing and wanting to wrap up for the day, but there's a respectful and professional way to communicate that. This felt unnecessarily hostile and unwelcoming, especially for a neighborhood coffee shop. Based on this experience alone, I wouldn't return. read more

Union coffee is a good solid neighborhood joint. It's a great place to grab a coffee after a workout. There are tons of workout studios in this neighborhood and MNT Pilates and Barre Union are on the same block. I love the benches and table out in front, I always try to sit there because this stretch of Union intersecting with Fillmore is totally bustling. The 45 bus stops right in front so there's always people milling around. It's great for people watching and for being in the middle of it all. Sometimes you can see the Michael's Liquour store cat (located across the street) walking in the front of their store. The inside is basic and could probably do with a remodel. The coffee roaster in the eating area makes it looks a little cluttered. For coffee it's pretty standard but they are one of the only coffee places I know that sells hardboiled eggs, pie, and a Borgia. read more

Stopped in while wandering the neighborhood and grabbed the Viet iced coffee. Total wake-up punch. * Bold roast comes through the sweetness. Not syrupy. * Condensed milk is balanced; you still taste coffee. * Pours over plenty of ice so it stays cold but doesn't water out fast. * Friendly, quick handoff. My husband stopped in to buy coffee while wearing his work clothes, and unfortunately the service he received was very disappointing. The employee had a rude tone and visibly looked him up and down in a judgmental way before helping him. He just wanted a coffee!!!! It was uncomfortable and felt discriminatory. No one should be treated differently based on how they're dressed or the type of work they do. We expect basic respect when visiting a business, and this experience did not reflect that. read more

The cafe is a cute, local spot in the neighborhood. They have wifi, restroom, and tables to sit and chat with your friends and family or to read a book! The cafe has a wide range of drinks and food and pastries. I got a hot americano and the coffee wasn't bad. The American was about $5I'd like to try their other drinks next time I'm around. The workers were super sweet and I loved how the usps worker came in and naturally used the restroom and chatted. Perfect corner coffee shop that has wifi and benches outside to pick up some coffee, tea, roasts, and treats! Post brunch we were looking for a place to meet and plan some trips and needed WiFi. My friends got iced americanos, iced tea, and I got a hot blackberry herbal tea. We also got a pecan chew (so good) and lemon bar. Family owned business for a long time I believe, friendly staff and such a cute local spot that has been in business for a long time. Would recommend giving this place a try over Starbucks if you're in the area. read more

Union Street Coffee Roaster is a spot right in the heart of Cow Hollow. Building: It has like a rustic Italian countryside and a decent amount of seating. There are some benches right outside and it is right in front of the 45 bus stop. Food and Drink: I got a black coffee and a blueberry crumb muffin. Both were ok, nothing special. The coffee is bit on the watered down side but wouldn't say it was bad. The muffin also I would say is pretty average. Overall: It is a place where I would come back to if I was in the area, but would not specifically go out of my way to travel here. read more

Stopped by for a quick cup of coffee last weekend. I came across it while walking down and checking out the small businesses all along Union Street. There was no one in line and I ordered a cappuccino, which was served up in under 5 minutes. Cappuccino: 3/5 The cappuccino was okay, but the cup wasn't filled all the way to the top. I was surprised to find how light the cup was, so I opened the lid to check it out. I understand cappuccinos have milk foam, but there was a LOT of foam. I'd estimate it was 3/4 coffee and 1/4 foam. If you take the MUNI 22-Fillmore or 45-Union, this spot is a treat because the coffee is delicious AND has outdoor seating while you wait for your bus because it is conveniently situated on the corner to catch the 22-Fillmore or 45 Union. Service is always prompt when I order my oat milk latte and unlike many of the other neighborhood coffee shops, I can TASTE the coffee. The coffee is not acidic, perfectly roasted, with the oat milk just being a supporting actor. Delicious. read more

Yesss. My corner coffee shop! I've been coming here since I moved in (about a year ago). I have nothing but great things to say about this place, their tea and coffee selection is extensive and there's a fair amount food options as well. My personal favorites are the hazelnut croissant and the breakfast burrito! Love how the breakfast and burritos/english muffins are served with tapatio. They also offer Vietnamese coffee :o I would always recommend this spot!! read more

I got chai with water and a drop of almond milk for $5.50!!!!! See the picture of my drink and judge for yourself. For $5 I want a real latte. I asked them if they may have forgotten almond milk? She replied: "no we only use very little, the rest is water; that,s how we always make it" really!!!!! So they have no dam clue what does latte means! Such a refreshing gem in the neighborhood! Stumbled across this spot on the way to a different cafe, and I'm so glad we decided to go here instead. I got an iced vanilla oat milk latte, and my boyfriend got the Vietnamese iced coffee. Both drinks were delicious and served very quickly. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, making sure that we were both happy with our drinks and pointing out tables with nearby outlets when they noticed that we had our laptops with us. The inside is cozy and charming with plenty of seating, and there are tables outside that are perfect for people-watching. This is a great spot to get solid coffee and hang out! read more

We were having dinner later nearby and had an hour to kill. We wanted a break from drinking so we decided to drop by Union Street Coffee Roastery for some caffeine. Stopped by on Friday, September 2nd at 7pm. I ended up getting a Double espresso ($2.95). I love my espresso super strong, so this was rather weak. There wasn't much of that rich, slightly bitter flavor I love. And the consistency wasn't much thicker than that of regular coffee. I basically drank it as if it were just a cup of coffee. The coffee shop was pretty much empty when we got there, so we just grabbed a table inside. They also have seating outside which would be great on a nice day. Good for people watching. It was rather chilly out, so we opted to sit inside. Cute low key coffee shop. I only wish their espresso wasn't so weak. read more

We came from Vegas, and saw this Coffee place on Yelp and decided to give it a try since it was super close to where we are staying. We tried it out for our first time yesterday morning, and it was delicious. The place is set up super cute, and the pastries looked delicious, and homemade. The coffee was spot on. I'd say better than Starbucks for sure. They were fast, efficient, and great customer service. It was so good, that we decided to have it again this morning before heading back home. Fro-yo girl here. I saw the new sign for Honey Hill Farms fro-yo and stopped dead in my tracks. It's been a long time since I've had HHF. While HHF used to be widely available in California, HHF moved from CA to Arkansas...and YoCream picked up most of the HHF accounts. Most HHF signs that I see are leftover from years ago and shops just haven't put them away even though they've switched to YoCream. Union Street Coffee Roastery has four HHF fro-yo flavors a day (all HHF) and 18 dry toppings (no fruit toppings, mostly candy, nuts, cookies, sprinkles, chocolate chips, yogurt chips and three flavors - strawberry, melon, plain - of mochi balls). HHF even has tart flavors now (but I recommend sticking to the sweet flavors). Flavors of the day: * Blueberry tart: icy texture but creamy, heavy, chalky aftertaste, didn't like it * Vanilla bean: unlike most vanilla fro-yo, you can actually see vanilla bean flecks in this fro-yo!!!! It's really good - thick, creamy, smooth, rich and with a strong vanilla flavor * Dark chocolate * Peanut butter Fro-yo prices: Small ($2.75)/ Medium ($3.50)/ Large ($4.00) The portion was generous (not Yogurt Park size generous though) and toppings were placed in the middle of the fro-yo and on top. I had the granola which was okay though not crunchy enough. I'm definitely coming back for more HHF. They also have coffee and pastries (quite a few muffins) and a coffee roasting machine. On Union street for my monthly Brazilian wax, I was in need for a quick bite to eat. I made my into Union Street Coffee Roastery looking for a sandwich.
