Just got a bad cup... Ordered a chai latte after hearing that it was strong and spicy. Mine was everything but that sadly. It just tasted like milk with a hint of chai. Inside is massive with plenty of seating. Line moves fast and drinks too, even though it was packed. Overall a bit disappointed, but I'm sure I just got a bad cup. We stopped in on a Sunday around noon to get some work done. Might not be the best place to work/study if you're easily distracted like me--it was pretty packed and a bit loud when we were there. We ordered a hot matcha latte and an iced latte. It was my first time here and from initial impression, I wasn't expecting the matcha to be amazing since they seem to specialize in coffee, but it was surprisingly really good. The consistency was a bit thicker, which I like for my hot matchas. Will definitely come back for it! The iced latte was a bit strong/a tad bitter, but still a good wake me up. If you're looking for a nice, quiet place to study/work/read, I highly recommend this coffee shop! I came here for the first time this past weekend and I cannot say enough good things about it. I ordered an iced chai and I really enjoyed it. It was a perfect balance between the spices and creamy milk. I noticed that their menu included iced Thai tea and I'm excited to come back and try it out. They also have a bunch of pastry and food options that I will try when I come back. The service here is super nice and friendly. They offered to remake my drink if I wanted any adjustments. My friend and I actually stayed here until 2:30pm even though they closed at 2:00pm (the Yelp page said it was open until 8:00pm) and they let us stay the extra 30 minutes without letting us know they were closing. While we were leaving, we had a very nice conversation with one of the workers. Lastly, the inside of the shop was spacious, had plenty of natural lighting, and was very quiet. It's the perfect place to get some work done or wind down with a good book. I cannot wait to come back here on the weekends to try their drinks and food. I was in the Marina district recently and in the need of a good cup of coffee. It was just minutes after sunrise so only a few places were open, i.e. Starbucks, Starbucks, and more Starbucks lol. Nothing against Starbucks as I am a gold card holder like most, but when I'm wandering around the city I love to venture into neighborhood coffee shops. I'm a supporter of small biz first! I find myself on Chestnut street following a herd of Yoga Mommies in Lululemon, coming or going who really knows... But these chicks got money, honey, and each with a cup of coffee! Now I really need some! I look up and low and behold a coffee shop... Chestnut Street Coffee Roastery! It was obvious when I walked in they have regulars from the area. Those that were greeted by name. I was greeted after everyone else and the Griswald family behind me seemed to be more enthusiastically greeted. Maybe it's just me being sensitive or maybe I just didn't blend into the Marina scene? Hmm. Maybe I'm just thinking too much, but thinking keeps me creative and sometimes very horny, lol. Ahh well! The interior is very warm with wall murals that remind me of a Château in Tuscany. Decor of natural dark wood a nice touch! The "Château Margaux" vibe was easy to fall in love with, but was the menu up to par? Well... if you're here for coffee and baked good it'll do! I decide on a cup of French Coffee and a Pumpkin Muffin w/ Cream Cheese! All in all, a very charming café with smooth coffee, but meh meh service. I'm not one to bash independent businesses but I do expect a friendlier environment in non-chains. A great place to read a Nicholas Sparks book. We stumbled upon this roastery while waiting for our table to open up at a nearby restaurant. The line was fairly long (almost out the door) but we got through it fairly quickly. The baristas were speedy and friendly. I opted for the cafe mocha (was VERY chocolatey, more so than I expected) and my friend for the drip coffee. For two drinks, I think we paid ~$9 (not bad for SF!) While we didn't have our drinks inside, there seemed to be plenty of tables, and a few people were studying, so it may be a good place to get some reading done - or to chat quietly with friends! read more

The coffee at Coffee Roastery isn't the best I've ever had. It doesn't have to be. This cafe is a throwback. There's a sense of community with the husband-and-wife team opening every day at 6:30 and having an unspoken chemistry. They know the regulars' orders and ask them how their trips to Europe were. It's a portal to an older San Francisco: the coffee was worse, the signage handwritten, the paneling wood. The collective was vibrant and intertwined. I like this place, even though there's always a line, it goes pretty quick. Tried 2 breakfast burritos and they were okay. I prefer the one with pork. I always order a large iced coffee. First time I was here I told them cream and sugar (not knowing that they only hand you a black iced coffee and you have to do the rest yourself) Coffee is pretty strong tasting, so I have to double up on my cream and sugar. Food and drinks here are easily 4+ stars, my previous rating was even 5 stars pre-COVID. The only reason for the lower rating in this updated review is because of the price spikes and inconsistencies. I feel I am in the minority with this issue so by all means if you love this coffee shop, i did too. I am not trying to drive anyone else away here but just wanted to express how disappointed I am by my experiences. Businesses are suffering during the pandemic. I get it. I know my go-to drink is customized and I don't understand their computer system but every time the payment charge is improvised and I have even seen oat milk entered which I didn't ask for, so I never know if I am being charged correctly- when I asked to confirm my order, I was then given the sarcastic response "oh? Too much?" The final straw was when I again paid $13 for a large customized drink and a sandwich, but was given a regular coffee with a small amount of syrup. Furious. As someone who works long shifts, I can't go back on the same day to tell them my drink was made wrong and I was given something worth half what I paid for. Instead of asking for more sarcasm by going in another day to complain, I will be walking away and will not look back. read more
