FYI - HVA is a separate entity from Sam's Club even though they're in Sam's Club. Who would've known! I liked being able to schedule my appointment online and via text. They also had a wide variety of appointments availabilities. My eye appointment was also very fast versus my past experience at another office. My past experience at a different doc, was appointments that felt like a couple hours. So I was pretty impressed and happy that it was so fast. Dr. Paula was super nice and helpful. I've been going here for years now and I love this office. They have been very friendly and are efficient. I never feel rushed while I'm there and they answer all of my questions. Dr. Robb was my main doctor for a while but in the recent years, I've also seen Drs. Wawrzenski and Imada. They were both great and helpful. I also really like that this office cares about preventative care. They don't just let you know what's wrong once something is wrong. I have talked to them about my family history and my current health/eye behaviors and they have made suggestions and have run tests to help me monitor the health of my eyes. It's much appreciated! You should make sure that your insurance covers this office before making your appointment. They aren't considered par providers for at least some of the insurance companies, so you may need to pay more. I only get partial coverage here, so I do pay more than I might at another office. But I appreciate their service and wouldn't want to move offices. read more

Amazing staff, I had an appointment scheduled but unfortunately when the appointment confirmed it was confirmed for a different location. The front staff was able to fix the appointment and still fit me in for the same day! Got my prescription and was on my way out. I've been coming here for 4 years now and I can never get the same doctor each year. This year was different. They make you schedule your appointment online which they always have. This time I schedule my appointment a month in advance and the earliest they could give me was about 10 days before my prescription expired. Get a call 2 days before the appointment saying that they couldn't accommodate. Keep going back and forth changing the appointment 3 times already and my prescription expired. The only other irritating thing about making an appointment is you have to gamble with which doctor you're gonna get. Dr. Robb & Dr. Paula are very excellent. Do NOT have the other doctors there treat you. I went to have my eye plugs done as I have many times before. She took way too long and was struggling and seen to be flustered. I asked kindly if she had done this before and she replied that she has experience. I left and a few minutes later, I felt something in my right eye and returned to the office. She said the plug was coming out so she corrected it and said it will be okay after my body temperature secures it. Later that day, I felt something in my left eye. Then the discomfort went away. I looked in the mirror and saw that the plug had come out and was on my lashes. You've been warned. read more

Do not see Dr Paula Imada unless you want to waste your time and money. If I could give her no stars I would. She gave me an eye prescription that was 3/4 of a diopter off on my right eye and a 1/4 diopter off on the left. Even after I complained that I could not read the big green freeway signs she insisted her prescription was correct because she checked it 3 times. It only took 1 time for another doctor to get it correct. read more

Since I wear contacts, which I get from them, I didn't think I needed to get designer prescription glasses. I chose a pair, but it was suggested I choose another one which my eyes centered better with. The pair suggested were by Elton John for $139. with 20% off by being a Plus Member. I, also got another 20% discount off the lens. I picked them up a week later and had them adjusted. The quality and service I received was worth 5-Stars. read more

Do yourself a favor and make sure that Hawaii Vision Associates is in your vision plan network. Otherwise you will be paying a HUGE out of pocket fee. Always ask for a pre-approval or estimated cost of services because this location will not tell you willingly. From my experience I was scheduled an appointment without confirming a estimate of benefits. Then received a mind boggling bill in the mail. After a few visits I feel so cheated. There is little integrity here. I hope others can learn from my terrible experience and just avoid getting services from such unprofessional people. On the other hand, this company is conveniently located at Sam's Club. And appointments can be scheduled fast and easy...maybe because they don't have a loyal patient base? read more

I had an ulcer and it was PAINFUL!! okay, this wasn't the first ulcer I had. I had a few before. The reason is because I slept in my monthly contact lenses when I wasn't suppose to. My bad =( I came to see the doctors here crawling into the door because my eye felt like it was going to bulge out of my head! I saw the doctors here for multiple visits because the infection was so bad. It was frustrating to come back so many times!! But I understood because it was REALLY REALLY bad. After a few weeks the infection cleared and now IM BACK IN CONTACTS!! Good as new. Now im in daily disposable contacts which I occasionally sleep in like once in a blue moon (don't tell my doctor!) The doctors here don't only do glasses and contacts but also take care of infections. read more

Dr Lammert was quick and competent, had a good and very upbeat attitude. The friendly office staff works quickly and they don't waste your time, which is good. Everyone hates it when doctors' offices eat up your time; that won't be a problem here. It was easy to get an appointment without having to wait for a couple weeks. They had enough openings. I tried with Costco too but Costco's doctor couldn't accommodate me soon enough. Downside is the Sam's doctor is a bit more expensive than the Costco one. If I had one complaint, it would be the price, but I'm guessing their price is comparable to other optometrists anyway. read more

My feedback is specifically regarding the appointment system. I made my appt last year, a year in advance of my appt this year. I got a reminder text a few weeks back asking for a confirmation fir the appt and unbeknownst to me, my text response didn't go thru. Today, I get a text that my appt has been cancelled because I didn't respond. Within the same minute of getting the cancellation text, I called the office to save my appt. I was told that it was already given out. Apparently, I never got the 2nd text that was to serve as a reminder. And despite informing them that I never got a 2nd text, my original appt was gone. Anyone with VSP knows that your appts have to be a year apart and so with December appt, i could have easily lost my benefit for 2020 because of errors. Unfortunately, customer service doesn't seem to a be a priority here. read more

Terrible doctor. Do not go here. I went here to see if my son needed vision therapy and my son was incorrectly diagnosed as needed bi-focals (He's 10) When I disagreed with the diagnosis and explained I wanted a second opinion I was told that was fine and they confirmed that they would not charge my insurance. I then received two separate doctors diagnosis (which should have been charged to my insurance) that Dr. Harada was, in fact, incorrect. My son does not need glasses at all. Called to discuss this with Nikki the office manger and was told she would not charge my insurance. Fast forward to this week and I get a bill from the pediatric ophthalmologist that her correct diagnosis was not being paid by my insurance and that I now owed $223 out of pocket. After calling insurance I find that Dr. Harada has gone ahead without my consent and billed my insurance. This doctor should not be in practice. Do not take your children here. They will be wearing bifocals when they really don't need any glasses at all. Update-Nikki the office manger assured me that she would send an email to the effect that they would issue a credit to my insurance so that I could come in and pay them cash. She has yet to send any email. read more

The receptionists need to be more aware of patients that are waiting. Granted my appt was for 4:30 pm but got there at 3:10 in hopes to get in early. They said yes and would be seen shortly. 15 mins later we filled out the forms which gave us hope. At 4:30 pm I asked what the status of the appt was!!! 15 mins later my daughter was seen first! If they knew we were waiting they could have texted me or called me when the Dr was ready. After all you are located in Sam's!!! This is what happens at the pharmacy. You drop off the prescription and you come back in 30 mins! Wow what a concept but instead we waited even past our normal appt! Never again! The seating out in front of everyone is a bit, how do I say it, unprofessional. I know space is limited but we are out in the open. My suggestion is to have a texting process so patients can go shopping at least. If you know there is only one doctor seeing 3 patients in front of us wouldn't that make sense??!! I only discovered that when I was called in!! NEVER AGAIN! read more

This is my 3rd time going to them throughout my whole life. This time, Dr. Robb Shibayama was the doctor who took care of me. He was very thorough and gave me step to step instruction and recommendations on how to better care for my eyes. I love how the staff were so friendly and how professional and ethical they were. I will be going back for a 2nd appointment to get my glasses. Love their equipment and how up to date it was to check on my eyes for accuracy. The only thing is that it was a small office. Wish Sam's Club allowed them to expand their office. read more

My husband and I had our regular eye check ups with Dr. Heather Wawzenski again and its like visiting friends when we have our appointments, and as usual we were immediately greeted by names by her nurses who are friendly and courteous. After we updated our information sheets the nurse immediately started the testing/evaluations then we were shown to the examiination room where Dr. Heather came in did our exams, and thoroughly explained everything and even wanted to know if we had any questions! Can't thank Dr. Robb and his AWESOME friendly staff at Sam's Club enough for the great eye care they have provided our family over the many years. Dr. Robb came to our rescue when our daughter accidentally had a small piece of glitter stuck in her eye, thank goodness he was able to attend to her right away and carefully and safely removed it. Over and over, Dr. Robb has taken such great care of our eye care needs, a very knowledgeable and personable doctor! Dr. Robb is very professional, truly cares about sharing the importance of health care not just for the eye, but in the overall care of our total well-being...we're very appreciative of his extensive training and concern for his patients. On a sad note, we learned that Dr. Lammert will be leaving them shortly to return home. She is also one of our favorite eye doctor, very upbeat and easy to talk to, will definitely miss her! The great deal for an eye exam and glasses is at Sears. Look for the specials. Until the end of September, you can get the Buy One, Get One on glasses! The deal can include sunglasses. The service was very professional and efficient from the time I phoned in for an appointment. They take walk-ins too. I have VSP insurance. Although they aren't participating providers, they helped me complete and submit the forms. The office is across the restaurants on the ground floor. I've purchased glasses at Sears here before and was very pleased. A great deal for excellent service and product. read more
