I really do not like writing negative reviews but this was my 6th time at Bliss in downtown Manhattan Beach. Each time has been the same. Heavy pressure to upsell and completely ignoring my request for a classic mani/pedi with no bells and whistles. 7 minutes of pushing. Many pretend not to understand so pointing and standing firm on "no" is critical if you are short on time like me with no desire for gel. Numbers are often misrepresented for services and it feels as though there is a mandate to make each ticket come in at $150+. I paid $87 plus 20% tip for caked on toenail polish that is still not dry this morning. I will have to redo them myself today. My nails are fine but this is not a relaxing experience. The location is convenient but I will not be back to this store or franchise. I'm sure rent is challenging to cover in this area but a revamped staff training is needed. Mindy was my nail technician, and she exceeded all my expectations! I showed her a picture of a gold 3D nail design I wanted, and she recreated it *perfectly*--exactly like the picture. I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. I really liked the person who did my pedicure. They spent time to trying clean them. They also politely told me that the pink color I chose for my nails might not be ok for my toes because my nails are darker. I appreciated them telling me that and getting me a darker shade of the nail color I initially chose. Sadly the person who did my gel manicure did not do a great job. My nails are not evenly coated and it looks like there are air bubbles trapped. They finished about 15-20 minutes before my pedicure was done so that gave me an indication of the difference in service too. So I actually really liked my nail tech Mai but there's issues that I can't ignore. 1. My appointment was 5:15 and I was the last customer leaving the salon. I only had a regular polish mani pedi with callous remover. Ladies came after me and still was served faster and before me. For some reason I only had one tech but ladles who came after me had multiple techs. Leaving around 7:40pm was the longest nail appointment I've ever had ... EVER 2. Even though it was the longest appointment I've ever had ...it was actually rushed. So Mai was working on my pedi then she started my mani. Then another tech applied the polish then left. I was very confused. There was no base coat or topcoat. I was tired of being there so long so I didn't say anything. But thankfully Mai returned and applied a topcoat. I was very happy she did that. It would be a shame to pay all that money including the $20 tip for half done nails. 3. The salon wasn't very clean. Chairs are stained and floors were not swept. Also I was instructed to wet my hands and wipe them ...but that's fine. It's the fact that I was told to dip my hands in my foot soak water that was odd. Very odd Tip: parking is paid lot parking in back. Takes card and maybe coins. You get 2 hrs before 6pm. 3 hrs after 6pm Staff very friendly but overall I probably won't return. Tracy is incredible with pedicures and is knowledgeable in taking out and preventing ingrown toenails. She takes her time and does an excellent job! I will not let anybody else give me a pedicure. Tracy also offers excellent manicures. The bonus is that she is a very kind person. Paul is also a superb nail technician who does a fabulous job on dip, gel, or a regular manicure. My little cousins from Israel are in town, so came to get a pedicure with them obviously. I have no younger siblings and my brother hasn't made me an uncle yet smh, so these are really my younger siblings. They could make me do anything. It has been a MINUTE since my last pedicure, and I was blown away by this place. These asian ladies are ON it, so personable and made me feel comfortable even though I am the only male in this place. They even offered champagne. WHAT A TOUCH! Need to shoutout my girl Lisa specifically, she was LOCKED in. I don't know why more guys don't get pedicures, it's like a foot massage and foot bath all in one. Nothing like being pampered every now and then. High prices for chipped nails. Pretty disappointed. Loved the nail artist but he seemed pressured to rush. Shaping was fantastic but my nail base was not even at all and could see all the bumps under the gel polish. My nails chipped less than 48 hours after getting them done. I paid $65 for my service and tipped $30. Not to mention select customers being highly favored over others being offered water and phone stands because they walk in wearing designer items. (I was offered neither of these things) oh and they don't accept credit at all. Only debit or cash.... so very unfortunate. read more

The owner wants to up charge for every little thing including the massage. There was no one there. There were 2 other people in there. Maybe if they had prices at a more reasonable level and offered regular spa pedicure massages they would have more clientele on the weekends. Won't be back. Gave 3 stars because of the provider. So I just got my nails cut and cleaned whatever I'm a guy, "No Diddy" They tried charging me $145 for a meni-pedi..however it's said I don't know but these guys got their scam pretty well organized. They tell you $65 for "mani/pedi but it's $65 each. So $130. They're very good at it. They told me $65 for both or combination then they said no. I decided to try Bliss as an alternative since my nail tech was unavailable and really needed my nails done as I have a few events lined up. Well they were very accommodating to schedule me same day, that was a plus. My nail techs for both my mani and pedi was really nice and they both did a great job. The shop is clean and and everyone is friendly. However, this is why I am giving it 3 stars vs 4 or even 5. There was a "nail party" for a bunch of young girls (10 girls give or take), about the age of 5. They came in extremely loud along with their parents whom were also loud. This made my service which I anticipated to be relaxing end up extremely irritating and obnoxious. No one told the young ladies to calm down as this was a relaxing venue, and they yelled and screamed and climbed on and behind the furniture. As I know kids will be kids but not teaching children how to behave in certain environments is beyond me. As I was leaving I mentioned to the receptionist that was a terrible experience and it would probably be nice to block off time for such an event. This was a HORRIBLE experience. They were overbooked. I sat in a pedicure chair for my fingers to be worked on. Incredibly uncomfortable and I got nail dust All over my clothes. I had scheduled a fill. Instead, my gel extensions were taken off and only an overlay of gel on my regular nail was what replaced them. The nail technician used a sponge to apply polish and got polish deep under my nails. It's still there. The design I asked for, flowers on the ring finger, took countless tries and looks awful. The flowers are definitely dying. All for the incredibly high price of $95.00 I will have to now go somewhere else and pay again to have my nails fixed back to what they should be. I've waited 6 months before leaving this review to make sure I truly love this shop. I feel so lucky to have found it and to live within walking distance! Pros: -Clean facility / modern appearance / bright -They take appts and when you show up they actually take you immediately. So many nail shops make appts and then make you wait because they didn't have enough techs or didn't write it down. NOT HERE! They are great! -Staff! They have a dedicated host to manage phones, payment, techs, etc...I love this. I never request a specific tech because honestly they've all been great and do great work. -Color options galore! I've never been to a shop with so many selections. -They have gel, acrylic, dip, designs, metallics etc....they do it all and don't give people a hard time about the complexity of their requests. Cons: -They are pricey but that's expected for the location and service. To me it's worth the cost knowing I'll get quality nails that don't chip (often) and clean facilities so no bacterias. -Parking (metered and paid lots) -I have super thin nails and I prefer powder dip because it lasts 3ish weeks. Sadly, two times the very next day they chipped. But I went back and they fixed them right up, no additional charge, AND made sure to REDO the problem, not just put a bandaid over it. This last time she decided to sand off the top layer and do another dip to reinforce all of them, not just fix the chipped one. Now that's service! read more

I spent more money than anticipated due to upgraded services. They do talk you into add ons, so walk in with your wits about you. They were packed right away. You need to schedule an appointment.
