I really want to like this place because it's nearby and the people are nice, but every time I've had a pedicure there (with several different people) it's been rushed and not well done. They really, REALLY push the gel and dip pedicure which I just don't like, but if you get regular polish, prepare to be rushed and get a sloppy job, no matter how many other upgrades you pay for. Today I booked a deluxe/premium pedicure hoping that paying extra and having more than an hour I would get a decent-looking pedicure. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. The photos are from immediately after my pedicure. Polish coverage is incomplete and on some toes looks very grown out already. The technician only did one swipe on most of my nails and barely touched them with topcoat (and no one here has ever used a base coat on my nails--that's standard with dark colors everywhere else--good luck getting the stains off your nails). It seems like they do this to force people to get gel or dip, but why even offer regular polish if you don't like providing it as a service? At the end of my pedicure, the technician dragged my purse strap across my wet nails and smudged a bunch of them, then only attempted to fix one of them, which still looks really bad. To make it worse, they don't use standard polish brands so I can't touch this up myself. I need a new pedicure tomorrow. I wish there was an option to pay $10 or $15 more for the technician to slow down, pay attention, and do a good job with basic services instead of trying to upsell for different products and services. read more

I have had good experiences here in the past, but this last week, the technician DESTROYED my cuticles. They have been peeling and literally bleeding all week. I have been using cuticle oil excessively to no avail. I went back today after being busy with work all week. I was very polite explaining the situation to the man at the front desk. He made every excuse in the book- the weather will dry out skin, the type of manicure (dip), and said it was not their fault. I've worker in customer service & hospitality for 20 years & just wanted to express my disgust with this treatment. I asked for a complementary cuticle clean up and he refused. read more

I regret to give three stars because this truly is my favorite spot in RVA but my most recent visit was very difficult. My pedicure was great and relaxing, but unfortunately my manicure was SUPER PAINFUL. The nail tech, Tiffany, drilled into my nail bed and beyond, on multiple fingers. I was bleeding for the remainder of the manicure-- which is HIGHLY unsanitary for myself and those to use the same station after me. The reason why this is unacceptable is I see Tiffany had received similar complaints and the establishment has done nothing to address this it seems. She was very nice and professional, but all at the cost of your comfort and even safety. Disclaimer: Don't let this review discourage you from visiting the place, I've never had such experience with the other techs. They're very clean, professional and upscale. I just think if Tiffany was advised to have a lighter hand, it would be an enjoyable experience for her future customers as well. UPDATE: I have changed my review of 3 stars to 5 because I spoke with the manager and he was AMAZING. He was fully accepting of the situation and offered a voucher in FULL for my manicure. I would not go back to the nail spa. The tech that serviced me was beyond rude. I told her how I wanted my nails done and she told me that that was stupid. She said "I am wasting my time doing your nails". I told her I did not want her to use the cheese grader on my feet and she ran it along my foot and cut me. She laughed when I told her that it hurt. I called the manager the next day. He said "She had done this before and He would talk to her. He offered no compensation or any explanation for this behavior. I will never be back there and I will make sure that everyone knows what happened to me. read more

Bliss is super close to where I live but the inconsistency of service is super frustrating. I have gone in and had a great manicure and pedicure and then went back and to the same person and the gel removal was awful and left the skin around my toes bloody. I rarely leave bad reviews but I really don't want this to happen to anyone else... I went in about 2 weeks ago for a pedicure. The service was good but the technician cut me a little and I didn't think much of it. Fast forward 5 days and I had to visit urgent care and get antibiotics for an infection in my big toe. With this I called and asked for a refund for my service. I was told they would call me back and never did so I called again. I was told that all sales were final and I said I understood that but I also had to pay for an urgent care visit and would appreciate a refund. I was searching for a decent nail salon after reading through so many horror story reviews of salons in the mildo area I came across bliss and decided to give them a try.... I'm so so so glad I did. Upon my arrival everyone was so nice and friendly. This has to be the most beautiful nail salon I've ever been to. They legit have over 2000 different gel colors. Lee was so amazing!! She made me feel so comfortable during my pedicure offering me a drink and she did a fabulous job. Although they're a bit pricey it's definitely worth every penny! I've been there two time and been very happy with my manicure and pedicure. Very clean and the technicians where both very good.

I thought I would go to bliss today and walk out with amazing nails but that was not the case. My nail tech seemed to hate her job. She rushed through the entire process. Not only did she cut me multiple times but all my nails are completely uneven. I paid $70 to walk out with the worst nails I've ever had in my life. I'm truly disappointed and dissatisfied with the service. I'm a quiet person and don't like speaking up when I don't like things but these are just truly the worst nails I've ever had. I got a dip manicure and pedicure and both started chipping within 3 days. Super disappointing because I was hoping they would last (like they usually have) and look nice for my brother's wedding across the country which was a week later. My manicure felt rushed too. Other dips I've had from walk-in last at least 3 weeks. And I think normally 3 coats are applied at least, and they only did 2. They didn't push back my cuticles or clean out any dead skin, they just used the little roller even though I paid for a full manicure to be added. And I had to ask for my nails to be cut evenly, as they were all different lengths when my person was about to move on to begin polish. I normally wouldn't post a negative review, but I was just very disappointed and it felt like I wasted money on my services here. I got my nails done last Wednesday, a full gel set. Didn't even last a week, the gel overlay came off 3 of my nails while I was showering and then my middle finger nail completely popped off, next day my index finger tip completely came off. it really sucks :( read more

I was a little disappointed with my experience today. My pedicure was so relaxing and comfortable but my toes don't look so great. There is polish on my skin and hours after my pinky toe polish just slid right off. When it got to my nails, I asked for tips but I still wanted the short length. She tried to see if I wanted without tips and I said no because I don't like the shape of my natural nail and the tips give them a better shape. From there I was not asked is this okay or are you happy. I felt like I was being rushed through. My cuticles and the skin around my nails were not even touched or fixed up. Disappointing. I went to get a pedicure last week and after 3 days my polish has chipped off. I was told it would be $65, when I sat down the tech saw that I had a bruise on my big toe, she filed it down and put acrylic on both my big toes I was not told this would be any additional cost OR asked if I wanted it until I was at check out. I asked about the massage and was told it didn't come with this pedicure, we had to ask again for it. The bottom of my feet are scaly they are worse than they were before I got the pedicure. I don't think I will return here for a pedicure, the price is extremely high and I do not like add ons without my consent read more

I've been coming here since the grand opening during last year's holiday season and man oh man! This place is my personal sanctuary (in my mind). My nails have never looked better. They grow so fast and I always get compliments on have beautiful my nails are. The nail technician I use (I refuse to disclose her name because I need my appointments and there's other great & talented ppl who work there, like Tina who does my niece's nails) her hands are blessed by God himself & anointed by Jesus Christ because she does the best work & her massages take you straight to the garden of Eden! They give a little champagne and they have every color imaginable!!! It takes me 20 minutes to figure out what colors I want. I come prepared already knowing what I want, but anyways. The point is, this place is amazing, it's a getaway, it's pristine, it's SUPER DUPER SUPERRRR clean & the atmosphere, the decor, the services are all top grade, David at the front is super professional, & the staff for the most part is great. The pedicure stations are the cleanest because the jet spa portion is detachable & disposable so it's like nobody else has used that bowl before but you. This place is perfect!
