I did the Blissage 105 massage with Bekah yesterday and it was amazing. The location was very clean and they are taking covid precautions - temperature check to get into building, hand sanitizers, wear mask in massage room, massage technician wears mask and face shield. I felt safe and the massage was much needed and relaxing. To note: the showers and any shared areas are closed, so you don't change into a robe and go into the massage room. You de-clothe in the massage room and just get under the blanket. You are able to use the restroom and sinks. I would definitely go back! read more

I realize good help is hard to come by and the pandemic has left many customer service-oriented businesses shortchanged, but Bliss Spa should not be one of those places. I recently booked a massage here and needed to move my appointment due to severe weather conditions. I spoke to Serena on the phone and she couldn't have been more entitled and snotty. She mentioned that she would have to okay this with her manager. Put me on hold for a while and then when back on the phone repeatedly used the phrase "We will ALLOW it this one time." But what really made me upset was her bitchy tone and I called her on it and then asked to speak to her manager. She then proceeded to tell me she was a manager, YET, when I asked to change my appt. she said she needed to speak to one! Hmmmm. I did speak to a manager, Jacinda, whose tone was short, but we came to an agreement and she said she would speak to Serena. Who told her I called her a bitch. I did not. I said I didn't understand why she was being so bitchy. I rescheduled the massage for the next day. Upon arrival, there were 4 young women behind the counter. Please note, plenty of staff to help people. When I said my name one girl, guessing this was Serena, but not sure, jumped up and quickly asked me my shoe size, not context, just blurted it out. Then proceeded to race me through the hallway. When showing me the code to the locker room, talked fast and away from me. I asked her to slow down, but she didn't appear to like it. Again more encounters with entitled and rude employees. She motioned to a hallway where I could wait in the lounge once I changed. I asked her where she was pointing to again because there were lots of doors and left. I have never been to a spa where they don't personally show you all the areas. UGH. After I changed, I encountered a nice woman in the restroom who said hello to me. I thanked her for being friendly and because up until that moment my experience with any warmth and manners was zero. It turns out it was the MANAGER Jacinda, although Serena portrayed herself as one. She was the person who helped me move my appt. Before I knew who she was, I mentioned that no one showed me to the lounge area and I wasn't sure where to go. The snotty girl also didn't show you how to use the showers. A guest was nice enough to show me how to use the shower and she too said no one helped her either. Jacinda showed me to the lounge, pointed out the form I needed to sign, and gave me a glass of water. I asked her name and introduced myself. We realized that we had spoken yesterday. While I was waiting in the lounge, the snotty girl did bring another client all the way to the lounge for her tour, so I guess that IS part of their process. My masseuse, John was pretty rough, although nice, my back hurt so bad during the night after my visit that I had to get up and take Advil. My back didn't hurt when I went to Bliss and feels worse when I left. My service also called for paraffin wax foot treatment, which was so hot that it burned my feet. It felt like John may have been new and inexperienced, not sure, maybe just a bad day or a bad fit. My $200 service and $40 tip really was a waste of money here. I have been to Bliss pre-pandemic and it was a lovely experience. I wouldn't say that is the case any longer, they missed the mark on all levels. Lots of places to try in NYC, but I won't be back to Bliss. Think twice before spending your money here. read more

LOVE!! I was exhausted from not getting a lot of sleep and running all over NYC with my best friends and needed a massage stat. They were able to squeeze me and a friend in very last minute. We walked in and asked if they had two massages available and they said YES so we booked it and walked right in. All of the Bliss spas I've been to before (San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago) have all been located within the walls of a W Hotel but this particular location was inside a building with several different offices. Didn't bother me but definitely different from previous Bliss spas I've been visited. There is a sauna and steam shower available in the women's changing area and their women's lounge is spacious. They have tea, fruit infused water, cheese, crackers and brownies in the lounge. My massage was amazing and exactly what I needed. She definitely worked out my tension and melted all my stress away. It was awesome. After my massage I just hung out in the lounge and read some magazines and just enjoyed that moment. Definitely recommend! I love BLISS. read more

I came to Bliss for my first time to get a facial. I booked the most basic facial and the first thing my facialist did was try to get me to spend significantly more. She immediately started suggesting the most expensive facials with no justification on how it would help with my particular skin issues. DO YOUR RESEARCH and look at the menu closely before you come in and/or ask to look at it with descriptions and prices when they are trying to upsell you (because they will). After I denied the facials that are over $300, she pushed the youthful facial on me. I naively thought this was the second least expensive option. After going home and taking another look at the menu, I was highly disappointed she didn't offer me the oxygen facial which was the step above the basic facial and their most popular. This facial seemed to be just 3 random products with an extraction and store bought mask I could've applied at home. Such little time was focused on my face. I was shocked to see the price at the cash register since it was such a simple, mediocre facial. I wish she would've let me have the original facial I booked without making me feel awkward and pressured to spend more money. Of all this Bliss Spa locations in New York, this is not my favorite, but it is the most convenient to home and work, and has my favorite technician (Lisa, you rock!). I really dislike having to go into the weird Broadway office building though, sign in at the front desk which is manned by one lone security guard who doesn't even check ID to see if I am who I say I am, and then ride the elevator to the second floor while getting death stares from all the people going to the 12th floor. Sorry, dudes, I'd take the stairs, but it's not an option here. Once inside the spa, I do like the atmosphere. The concierge staff are always very professional and friendly, though they do work the hard sell for their product line. Some of the rooms/services are in an upstairs area, which is a little bit of an inconvenience when going in your robe from the main level up a set of steep stairs to the other floor. The prices are high, but the quality of service is similarly high. And the reason I keep coming back...the painless wax! It is AMAZING! read more

The "No Zit Sherlock" facial was my first experience at Bliss Spa and I love to buy the Remede Alchemy Advanced emulsion creme even though it was super pricey I would always feel the quality of the product. At this location, I like that they have a serene waiting area with water and snacks, magazines and calming music. The locker room has a built in lock. I also received a robe to cover up. I didn't know that they had a built in lock before I visited so I came prepared with my flip-flips and my own lock. It's nice to know that they have these amenities. read more

Good service. I got a manicure. They were on time and it looked professional. One thing I appreciate about Bliss, as compared to many of the other spa and manicure places around, is that they do seem to make an effort to employ good hygiene practices. When I got my manicure, I saw the nail technician open a new, sealed package of instruments, rather than re-using something that had been used on previous clients and then left marinating in blue juice, as is common elsewhere. They had a nice waiting area, with small refreshments and comfortable seating while I was waiting for my appointment. The nail salon area itself, which had chairs where people were receiving pedicures as well as manicure stations, did not look well-ventilated, which is a problem since many nail products contain noxious fumes. Aside from that issue, though, I found the overall experience positive. I got a manicure on Saturday; it's Tuesday and I'd say it's just starting to fray at the tips now, after I did some dishes. I asked them to specifically use products I brought that are free of the most toxic ingredients; I don't know whether the products they normally use might have yielded a longer-lasting manicure. I booked a prenatal massage after hearing wonderful things from a family member. The check in process was pretty basic- nothing too special. The facilities were clean and modern, but nothing too extravagant. The 5 stars were all for my masseuse- Bob! He was absolutely amazing! He was very kind and respectful about how I was positioned and the amount of pressure during the entire appointment. At Bliss they have inserts so pregnant women can lay on their stomach, comfortably and safely- it was a luxury! We started a little behind schedule, but he still honored the entire appointment time. Nope that's not what's happening. The facialist will ignore whatever you've booked and tell you you *need* a different treatment with multiple add-ons without telling you how expensive all of those upgrades are. A regular facial turns into a $350+ treatment that is just *ok.* Many other high end places charge these prices and more but they have state-of-the-art technology and products and you really see a difference. Here you get a mediocre treatment for a top tier price that you never wanted in the first place. Save your money and go to an up-to-date place where it's worth the money and you don't get a hard sell on worthless upgrades. read more

I have visited Bliss SoHo about 4 times now over the last couple of years, each time for a Blissage75 (75 minute massage). Overall, it's been a decent experience (it's a massage, after all), but there are many improvements to be made, all within the control of this spa. Maybe something gets lost in this corporate spa chain, but there are many elements that make Bliss Soho seem a little neglected. Some of the issues I've encountered: - For some reason, it's not possible to schedule a basic facial and massage (with any therapist) in the same timeframe. In trying to book these two online together, I've been met with a message that there is no availability... ever. That right there has made me choose one service over the other, so the spa missed out on my business there. - I've tried booking over the phone, but despite being specific about the location, the rep booked me at the uptown location (I should have looked at the confirmation email more closely), so when I arrived, not only did I not have an appointment guarantee, they couldn't promise me that I wouldn't have to pay for the "missed" appointment uptown. Then when they finally squeezed me in, I got schooled by the massage therapist about booking online (been there, done that-- turns out there's no great way to make an appointment at this place). - The reception personnel that I've encountered aren't the most friendly. During my last appointment, the person there was actually quite rude and stand-offish. Not the greatest feeling when you're going in to relax and be pampered. Would it kill them to smile or say something without an overt attitude? - I think it's nice that there's a little cheese plate and cold water in the waiting area as you're waiting to be called in for your service. They do seem to replace/replenish them with some frequency, yet somehow, I always find it stocked with warm/practically melted cheese. It's really unappealing. - Call it my bad luck, but two out of the four times I've been here for a massage, I've gotten a therapist (two different ones) that chronically clear their throat. It didn't really bother me so much, but I did take notice. Three out of four times, my therapist came to get me 5-10 minutes after my appointment start time (and I always arrive half an hour early so I can veg out beforehand), and end the massage on time or 5 minutes early. I tend to think in terms of unit pricing, and since a massage is bought in blocks of time, when I'm cut short by 15 minutes, that's basically $32 of time I'm paying for and not seeing. - Two out of four times, when I went to take a shower, the shampoo, conditioner, and/or soap dispenser has been empty. It's rather unsettling to get my hair wet in there just to realize I have nothing to wash it with. The upkeep seems to be lacking for sure. I don't get massages often, so when I do, it's a real treat. The only reason I've been coming back to Bliss Soho periodically is because I've been too lazy to research a better option. My massage therapists have been good, but the spa itself and the issues mentioned above really hinder the experience as a whole. They could so do better. read more

How many times have you gone to a day spa and the place looks fabuloso, the cucumber and lemon iced water help hydrate and elevate you above the drama of the day and then your treatment begins and it doesn't live up to the expectation that was set in the waiting room. I've had this happen to me numerous times at some relatively upscale spas at major resorts, Burke Williams (in California) and random day spas. BUT NOT THIS TIME. Bliss balanced the urban spa chic experience with high quality massage. I'll update this review after I go back for a facial. ;) I just had my first experience at Bliss and I'd definitely go back. Why? Because my reflexology and "armistice" treatment took to me to another state of being. My massage therapist was professional, worked miracles on my tired soles and palms and didn't try to sell me products. I went on a Saturday and it was a bit busy and cramped. But I am chalking the crowded feeling up to the fact that the SoHo location is undergoing some renovation. Honestly the cramped changing room was really only thing that was a little iritating. That said, I hardly noticed the construction. They did a good job of masking it. I am not sure what they are building but I believe it's a larger locker room. That aside, their pricing for services is competitive and considering the fact that their waiting areas feel like they are Ian Schrager inspired lounges with all the little nice ammenities like lemon iced-water, tea, small snacks. I give Bliss a solid four stars! Oh almost forgot to mention everything was clean - no overflowing towel bins or wet floor in the changing room. And with a constant flow of people rolling through there, they must have quite an attentive staff. My only suggestion to them is to hire more people to answer the reservation number. I tried calling four times and was put on hold for a long time (five minutes or more). And I had called at varying times of the day. this is a second-rate spa that is way too expensive for what it offers the locker room was FREEZING. i could barely get undressed. it must have been 60 degrees in there. then, my facialist was nice. but she didnt listen to me when i questioned her. i told her the peel was burning only one section of my face, and she told me it was "fine". the mask she applied dripped into my eye, and i was waiting and waiting for her to remove it. she again told me it was "fine" and just covered it with a cucumber. i had to specifically request she remove the mask from my eye, which had now dripped low enough to actually get INTO my eye and burned. ive also had two waxes here that are average at best. they miss spots and break off more hairs that they remove. overall i think this place is a scam and i'll take my money elsewhe read more

I would like to give it a 3.5 star but there's no button for that. I am a fan however, I've been to different bliss spas in NYC, LA, and Miami. I love the amenities the spa has to offer, it is clean and beautiful, very important for a spa is the first impression. I've had many facials and massages here and finally felt like writing a review. The service definitely varies between different beauticians and masseuses because sometimes it was great but sometimes it's okay. I would suggest pay more attention to extractions because one facial (fabulous facial) I specifically asked to focus on extractions the lady did poorly. My face did not feel as clean as my previous facial. I do however like the bliss triple oxygen™ instant energizing mask and I have that at home as well as their shower set and body butter. Sadly the institution that was once bliss has long past. I've been a customer at various nyc locations for circa 9 years and it's steadily gone downhill culminating in my facial yesterday. First, despite what looks like some recent upkeep on the soho location it just feels gritty and dated. Lounge couches are uncomfortable, lights are bright, and no measure of a chill atmosphere is enforced as staff walk through talking loudly and hollering into the room for appointments. My aesthetician was just ok. But my real issue was with her completely sneaky and inappropriate upsell while I was mid-facial. I had booked the standard facial at $140 and halfway through she was talking about other products she was going to use on my skin because it was "sensitive". Cut to me checking out when I realized she had completely changed the facial I got - to the tune of 40% more expensive. I realize this can often happen but it was absolutely NOT clear that what she was doing was a completely different service - it was the exact same length of time, same number of steps etc as the bliss basic facial and pretty much any basic facial I've ever had. (I know a spendy facial - light tools, peels, other masks etc. that was not done at all.) Further for one part of the masks she just sat quietly behind me - for around 6+minutes (multiple songs played thru so a fair Amt of time) no massage etc. that's a weird amount of down time In a service that has a lot of other care options. I also think bliss products are just not as cutting edge as they once were so even from a pure treatment standpoint I'm not thrilled with the skincare Lastly at check out the gentleman assisting me got in a tiff with one of the aestheticians about where she directed a client. He was snapping at her - just let me do my job! Multiple other customers were around and it was incredibly awkward and unprofessional. I'll also say that I find it interesting that disappointed reviews are almost never responded to here anymore. I often head over to Bliss for a lunch hour Shellac manicure (I work very close by), and for the most part, I have had positive experiences. I have had two different manicurists and two totally different experiences. Tanya is wonderful. She is meticulous and my nails always look amazing. However, the last time I went in, Tanya did not have any appointments available, so when booking online, I selected "No Preference" and was booked with Dominica. Dominica did an okay job on my manicure, but I have noticed a few rough edges and bubbles in more than one nail. The worst part is that, when cutting my cuticles (I usually request minimal cutting, when asked, but didn't think to mention it), she nicked my finger. I only noticed when she rubbed alcohol on it--more than once--but, didn't get a close look at it until I left. A day later, it's still a bit sore. It's a small cut about 3mm wide right below my ring finger cuticle on my right hand. Not a huge deal, but not what you expect when you're paying a premium for a manicure. UPDATE 5/3/18: I hadn't been back to Bliss SOHO since this happened last year, but started going back recently. My second time back, I was booked with Dominica. She could not have been nicer and was very delicate with my cuticles (did she remember??). I had a very pleasant experience with her this time around and left with a beautiful manicure that stills looks perfect a week later. Maybe she was just having a bad day on my last visit. read more

Not a good massage at all. Extremely disappointed with this experience. Staff was rude when I checked in and checked out. Massage therapist barely applied any pressure. She did not ask me what specific areas on I wanted to focus on so I told her low back and legs (had just run a half marathon). She did not focus on these areas during the massage and instead spent LESS time then normal on the low back and legs. She also was kind of rude during the experience. After turning on my back, she asked me to lift my head up. She must have then said to put my head back down (I didn't hear her she was talking so softly) and when I didn't, she rudely said "I won't start until you put it down". From the time I walked in until the time I left, I had a perfectly wonderful and relaxing experience. I was gifted a facial by my son since he knows that I never do anything for myself. The spa is located in a secure office building. My ID was scanned before I was allowed upstairs. The spa was well lit, clean and peaceful. Every employee was smiling, kind and helpful. Nineta, who did my facial, was amazing. She asked me if I would like to know each part of the facial steps and made sure to prepare me for each step. I don't remember feeling this relaxed in a very long time. Towards the end of the facial, she left me to relax for a few minutes, on my own, with soothing music and amazing scents. I had a good facial here. It's now 2 days after the service, and my skin looks pretty good. The spa itself was ok; I got used to the music in the room after a little while; it was a little louder than I have ever experienced at a spa. I made an appointment for the triple oxygen facial, but a microdermabrasion facial was suggested by the technician when I arrived and I took her advice. The service was ok, but felt a little rushed at the end. There seems to be no space between the appointment times; my appointment started almost 10 minutes later than scheduled and was cut slightly short at the end because the next appointment was apparently scheduled to begin immediately. I had arrived about 30 minutes early to relax and have some tea before my facial. I ended up spending more than double what I expected to pay due to an added eyebrow wax. I was taken a little by surprised by the suggested change in service. Maybe that could have been handled differently by the technician. The only real wrinkle in the experience was my encounter with the staff while checking out. One of the young women made a comment under her breath when I was paying for the service and purchasing products. While I didn't hear what she said, I was left with the impression that she was making a remark about the amount of money I was spending. Whether or not I am correct, her behavior was not very professional...and should not be part of an encounter where you are indeed spending a lot of money. read more

I haven't written a Yelp review in nearly two but felt this warranted a review. I got the "fully loaded facial" which was $215. Considering the price and knowing how great Bliss products are, I thought this was going to be an amazing facial! Unfortunately my experience was quite the opposite! The woman who did my treatment used one finger to blend in lotions and serums and it felt like only patches of my face received treatment. Nothing was symmetrical or thorough and it felt a little all over the place. She didn't explain anything she was doing so not sure I even got everything I was supposed to. When it came to the extractions she missed quite a few place and I had to keep asking about it. I complained upon checking out but the manager was busy dealing with another customer who was complaining. I did get 20% off but they seemed annoyed about my complaint and quickly went back to dealing with the other customer. I would not recommend getting a facial here!! read more

My co-worker, the lovely Miss Chantelle K., convinced me to try getting waxed here, and after nabbing perhaps the last available appointment in New York on the Friday before Memorial Day, I figured it was kismet. I've never been a huge fan of the Bliss line of products or of the obnoxiously perky/perfect looking cartoon girls on all their packaging (I think it's the same artist who does those Lavalife ads on the subway...) but I have to say my virgin Bliss experience was a good one. My scottish waxtress Laura was friendly and attentive. It was all over quickly (sadly not so painlessly, but such is the nature of the beast). A few days later, I'm not entirely irritation free, but it's certainly been an above average recovery - due in no small part to the anti-ingrown hair pads I was sold. I rarely come on here to do reviews, but in this case I just had to. I feel like I need to share with the Yelp world the awesomeness that is Bliss Soho. I have gone to this spa several times for various types of services... and I -YET- to have an issue here. The front desk folks are always super friendly; the other employees I happen to rarely bump into are also nice. The atmosphere is SO chill (and quiet) and it's nice to have some cheese and tea, while waiting for your service to start. The bathrooms and locker areas are on the small side - but I don't go to Bliss to chill by the toilets. Also, most of the cream/lotions products they sell are available to sample in the bathroom. I HIGHLY recommend massage therapists Demetri and Rose - they know their anatomy, and are extremely accommodating of clients' needs and comfort level. I have lumbar discs degeneration and find it extremely uncomfortable and painful laying down or sitting for prolonged periods of time. But when I go in with extreme low back pain, I always come out with zero pain. MAGICAL HANDS!!! I also HIGHLY recommend Sybil for waxing services and facials - I have had facials and waxing services in other places and FINALLY found someone who knows that speed waxes = ingrowns. Getting waxed by her is indeed painless. Her facials have left my face feeling like new. No nasty skin flare ups - just beautiful skin two weeks later. Everyone I recommended also consistently offer follow up care that are beyond Bliss products (everything from stretches for a sore back or skin care techniques). What a great deal: I get to pay $120 and be kept captive while a facialist aggressively upsells me for the whole hour. I hadn't even laid down on the bed before aesthetician Frances told me I needed to pay $80 more (the dermabrasion) on top of my $120 facial. Otherwise I would not be happy with the results. She alternated the pushy upsells with a constant loop of criticism about my skin. And how my skincare regime was not good enough (another product upsell moment). After a painful extraction (revenge after I declined the pushy, non-stop upselling?) Frances then told me I needed a soothing cucumber mask. Which would be an addtional $30. Relaxing? No. Do I see an improvement in my skin? It's so red and pockmarked right now I do hope it gets better over the next few days. Save your money, ladies. This place is so not worth it. read more

I'm extremely upset with my first facial at Bliss, let me tell you why. I had always gone to Bliss for eyebrow waxes and had always had a pleasant experience even though the service is priced a little high. Whatever, there's nothing worse than bad brows so I'm willing to pay extra. I had two pimples pop up over night (pimples are not a usual occurrence for me). I freaked out. I decided to book myself in for the "no zit Sherlock facial," which was probably a bit of a dramatic reaction but I felt like I was due for a facial anyway. The process was going fine until the woman said she was going to do a peel at the end of the treatment (she didn't tell me why). She also didn't tell me it was a SEVENTY DOLLAR EXTRA CHARGE FOR THE PEEL!!! I didn't find this out til I got to the register and my service was $300 instead of $170 (plus tip and tax etc) To make matters worse, the woman DIDNT ACTUALLY GIVE ME THE PEEL!! I know what a peel feels like, I'm not an idiot, and she did not give me one! She just rubbed thousands of lotions on my face. I feel like my money was just thrown down the drain. The actual zit removal process was awful. 3 hours later my face was still stinging with pain. I can't really complain about this though because zit removals are never fun. HOWEVER as I mentioned above I only had two pimples, but she stabbed my face in 50 different places acting as though my face was swimming in zits. Thanks for putting me through extra pain unnecessary. After speaking with a friend about my dreadful experience, she said she also had had one of the worst facials of her life at bliss soho. 5 Stars for Treatment, got a massage and she was very experienced and heavenly. -500 Stars for customer service. As I was checking out, I got the distinct impression a girl at reception mimicked me in a ridiculing fashion to a male coworker, unprovoked. Felt like an icy water bucket to the head after feeling so zen post- treatment. Bliss S.O.H.O. must stand for Bliss Snarky Obnoxious Hospitality On-arrival. Uptown is lovely. AVOID this location like the plague unless you enjoy dealing with the pit bulls at reception. Okay, here's the deal with Bliss. I don't know about the whole facial thing and trusting them with my face but... my crotch area belongs to the bikini waxers at Bliss! Seriously, the blue wax they use is so good for sensitive skin and you don't get those awful ingrown hairs, bleeding, and ripped off skin that you often get with those awful sugar and honey waxes. I simply refuse to go anywhere else! You definitely have to get the right person though. I've had many and some are so much better than others. I just had a really pleasant wax experience (oxymoron??) with a woman named Andorra. She was gentle but quite efficient and speedy. Here's to the perfect bikini wax! read more

I'm not really a huge fan of Bliss spa. For the price, its really not worth it. It gets 2 stars because its clean. I had a gift card so i'll use it. My hour long massage lasted 45 minutes. Luckily I had timed when it started otherwise I wouldn't have known. To make up for it, they left some money on my gift card... what to do with $45 at the most expensive spa in the world??? So I got a manicure. The shellac manicure ($40). It is suppose to last 2 weeks. I had seen reviews that it lasts up to 3, no chips. Intrigued, i went for it. The Bliss shellac manicure is no nonsense. Other women around me were getting their hands massaged and wrapped in warming lotions. I had none of this treatment. It looked great when I was done and I was psyched I could immediately reach into my bag to get my keys. However.............. 4 days later, the paint on one of my nails PEELED off. and now a second nail's paint is peeling off. Two week mani? Please. I don't know if its Bliss's fault... I would think not and I'm going to call them and try to get it redone (I was on hold this morning for 45 minutes with no response and a really annoying repeating message saying they would be right there. They were not there.). In short - Avoid this spa. Use a gift card if you have one -- only because they won't swap out for cash unless its less than $10. read more

The only thing nice about this place is the decor. Go somewhere else for a treatment. I booked a triple oxygen facial here for $170. The facialist kept trying to upsell me with extra treatments during the facial. She was getting so aggressive and when I said that I'll just stick to the facial I came here for, the 75 minute facial that's already not cheap at $170, she started to push and pull at my skin so hard I had to tell her to stop. Ridiculous! My face was red and swollen for 2 days. I used to be a fan of Bliss when Marcia launched the business 10 years ago. Now they upsell you to death with such a ferocious staff whose mission it is to upsell, upsell, upsell. Enough already! You can't even relax, which is the reason people go to spas. This location is sort of a rip-off. It is tiny, and was sort of broken down. The steam room and sauna were both inoperable and the usual "supplies" were not in the vanity area. No showercaps, no razors to shave your legs, no cotton balls, no hair elastics. Wassup? I had just flown in from LA and actually needed these items. My sister hated her massage and I felt sorry for her. My mom and I loved our massages, but again the prices just aren't justified. This place costs a fortune, so the ghettoness (ghetto-osity?) of the locker room is really unacceptable. I dropped 600 bucks on my mom and me and left feeling like it was sooooo not worth the price and that I wouldn't be back. read more

I don't recommend the "hot milk and almond pedicure". It just felt like a regular pedicure, but it took 60 min (out of which about 20 min I was waiting for the assistant to bring something or for the color to dry.) The availability of snacks is nice and they were good, but there was no music in the pedicure/manicure area and the whole experience wasn't as relaxing as expected. Without letting me know, they added an extra charge of $15 for some softening gel. Lastly, to my surprise they do not have nail dryers available. Overall, $95 total (including tip) just seemed a little bit too much. Not worth the money! read more

I received a $150 Bliss gift certificate from my boss at work (good job me) so I was of course SO EXCITED to head to Bliss in SoHo. I got the Triple Oxygen Facial ($165). The esthetician was very nice and sweet and made me feel comfortable etc. The facial was good in the sense that I left with my face feeling clean, glowing and I only spent $15 on it. The cons were: 1. I left the facial with a blemish that I had when I walked in. There may have been a reason she didn't get rid of it but... (maybe too deep? I don't know?) it would have been nice to be taken care of completely. Also, not to be gross, by the time I was heading to bed that night I had a whitehead chilling on my chin. So, now I'm sitting at work with a glowing face and the remnants of a blemish passed on my jaw line. 2. It felt like the Oxygen part of the facial lasted at the most 10 minutes? I was certainly getting my money's worth in extractions though (big pro)! 3. As I was checking out I asked the receptionists if I could wear makeup later and if I should wash my face that night. Both receptionists AT THE SAME TIME gave me opposite Yes/No answers to BOTH questions. Thank God the one receptionist was there giving me the correct information. Bliss- Train your staff accordingly. I know you guys must have plenty of Market Research and you know the top 10 questions clients are going to ask. Needless to say I did not wear makeup the rest of the day and I did not wash my face that night. Cool, calming spa experience. Big price ticket. I'll have to see how my skin looks during the following weeks to really decide weather I would go back or not. If I was paying for this myself I would try another spa. However, if someone was buying me a gift certificate again I would not turn my nose up at it. read more

For anyone pregnant, read this review! I recently went to Bliss SoHo for a prenatal massage. My husband was out of town, the spa is close to my office, so it was the perfect post-work evening activity. ...and at 8 months pregnant my back was in serious need of some loving. Usually I request a female masseuse (my personal preference) but I was rushed when making the appointment and forgot to request one. So, when I showed up, I got Bob. Bob is an older white gentleman and my first impression was, quite honestly, "well this is going to be interesting!" ...He reminded me of my Dad. ...We got into the massage room and from the second I stepped in, it was clear Bob had done thousands of prenatal massages before...which he later confirmed. He was thoughtful about my positioning, asked the right questions, and most impressively was able to maneuver me onto my stomach by using a lot of pillows. It was so damn comfortable. After months of sleeping on my side just being able to relax on my stomach was a Godsend. And then Bob started his massage, which was, IMO, the best pre natal message I could've ever hoped for. Bliss SoHo is getting 4 stars because I reserve 5 stars for the very best. If there were reviews for Bob, I'd give him 5. Bliss SoHo is clean, accessible and an all around easy spa. Indeed it is not everyday that I go to a spa. In fact I'm not a spa person. I'd just say "I'm a guy", but truthfully after my visit as a very kind and generous gift from a cute someone, I have to say it was very refreshing. To be sure there is lots of pampering going on here, and if you like that, you're in luck. But what I really liked was the "extreme sports massage" that I got to enjoy. For starters the masseuse is very attractive, so that doesn't hurt. Next you are laying down on a heated bed. Every single thing that happens will feel anticipated, and perfect. No breaking crushing your muscles or breaking ligaments like at a typical chinatown massage place. These people are very professional. I also learned a ton from her. She was clearly a certified personal trainer, knew a lot about various muscle groups, so when I explained all of the different types of workouts I do, she knew exactly how to pinpoint problems. She found tight muscles - my trapezoid - and some tight joints. She even introduced me to the IT band. I have no idea why this find tendon had escaped my purview until now, but what matters is she showed me that it was tight, why it's important, and how to stretch it. I've been working on it every since. Great experience and a great place. Definitely recommended for spa lovers who enjoy being pampered. read more
