The pace of the class was awesome. Yasuko gave nice clear instructions. She structured the class so well. The information wasn't too overwhelming. She would teach with one person being demonstrated on by her, then the partner would do the same move. Then you'd switch. She took it step by step with helpful tips and suggestions throughout. My boyfriend and I met Yasuko for a private, 60 minute couples massage class! It was such a wonderful experience; I would not hesitate to recommend her services!!! I loved the emphasis on positive energy, effective communication, and the giving nature of massages. Yasuko first explains the technique while you look at a booklet, and then she shows the technique on your partner. Next, you model the same technique onto your partner. Then you & partner switch (giver versus receiver). I love that the methods she shows you are very doable and are designed not to cause tiredness/strain on your own body as the giver. You even receive a full color booklet at the end of your session to help you remember all of the massage techniques! I enjoyed Yasuko's gentle nature and her cute humor. We selected two areas to focus on, Neck & Shoulders and Upper & Lower Back, and Yasuko provided visual aids and demonstration before each partner had the opportunity to practice. We learned several new techniques, all of which were very enjoyable. Personally, I found the most useful part of the class to be learning techniques that allow me to massage more effectively without straining myself. Yasuko did an amazing at both explaining and demonstrating simple yet effective techniques, which she demonstrated on us first so that we would knew what it was supposed to feel like, before we then got to practice on each other. This is a long over due 5 star review for Yasuko's awesome-ness. A few years back, my boyfriend booked a couples massage class and a 90 min massage for me as a gift. Yasuko is wonderful to be with, her energy is calm and her teaching style is compassionate. This was the first time going to a masseuse that actively advocates the concept of couples adopting massages for each other as a routine in their lifestyle. I didn't think much of it in the beginning but now I understand why it's such a sweet gesture you can offer to your partner. It's relaxation and pleasure that you offer selflessly when you provide a massage to your partner. In that moment, it's about nourishing the other person, acknowledging their hard work and effort for being a good human day by day (this world is demanding!) and every physical effort on your part is a way to express the genuinity of your intentions through actions than words. One of the best parts was learning how to give a massage that didn't leave our fingers tired. I felt that the techniques we learned were 'real' massage therapist techniques (but even better!). Yasko is incredible. My wife and I recently went to a presentation of hers. If you don't know, she teaches couples how to massage each other. At this presentation, she taught 5 moves to massage the neck and shoulders. All I can say is, WOW. Who knew that a little technique can make a HUGE difference. I use these moves almost daily now when my wife needs a little massage,which ironically happens to be often lately (just for the record, I'm not complaining). She is so nice and knowledgeable and really wants you to learn how to do it the correct way. She puts a real emphasis on not injuring yourself when you are giving the massage, which I guess that is a common problem. I had such a great time learning from her and can't wait to learn more from her next time. I had never heard of a class for couples massage before I heard about her, but it was so great! Saturday July14th was an interesting night. Some hooligans decided our cul-de-sac would be a great place to ditch the car they stole for a joyride around midnight. They jumped our fence and tried to escape through our backyard, trampled some of our squash plants, and just generally did all they could to make the night as weird as possible. Couple all that with standing around the abandoned truck while the police investigated just in case they needed to take a statement and you have the perfect recipe for frazzled nerves. See, the 15th was my wife's birthday and I thought a teaching session and a full massage would be perfect for her since she'd never gotten a professional massage before. Boy was I right. We started with the teaching session. I was the student. I learned a lot about not only the mechanics of giving a good massage, where to put hands, how to arrange fingers, etc., but also about how to effectively communicate with your partner so that they get the most out of it. Very informative, Yasko is an excellent teacher. Then came the individual session. I can't really speak to Yasko's technique or abilities specifically as I made myself scarce because I knew my curiosity would get the better of me and I'd be constantly asking questions. Not good when you're trying to maintain a relaxing atmosphere. All I can give a review on is the results. My wife started her birthday as a bundle of nerves and ended it content, relaxed, unburdened. Yasko's massage was relaxing, soothing and healing experience. I have chronic tenderness on my neck, shoulder and lower back. Plus, since I play soccer, my muscles (especially calf and hamstrings) are often sore.
