Yes, I have ran into many obstacles getting in between appointments, but lesson learned, schedule before you leave with her. It's easier to establish a future appointment and cancel/ reschedule later than trying to get in touch with her for an appointment. Trust me, I know. Jen is usually accommodating towards all scheduling needs, however weekends appointments are usually booked up. Recently I texted her to confirm my appointment but informed I'm available today if she can accept me. I told her the condition and length of my hair, and informed what results I wanted to achieve. This way she knew what to prepare for during my appointment. Took her a few mins to text back and told me if I'd like to go darker, she can squeeze me in right now. Though this happened by luck, I don't expect to be this lucky every time. Jen usually knows I have a crazy schedule just like hers, but if I have some flexibility, it doesn't hurt to try. Jen always delivers quality work after each hair appointment. She definitely recommends the best products and literally cares for clients hair and look. If you can be patient enough with her communication skills, you definitely won't regret getting in with her. I made a mistake going to someone once when I couldn't get a hold of Jen between my last appointment with her. Jen worked twice as hard on my hair to fix the damages done, but was still very sweet and understanding of the circumstances. Now I know to just be patient and good hair will come to those who wait for Jen to respond. Lol!

I called, emailed, and texted. Finally got a text response 3 weeks later. Too late - already had my hair colored by then. My friend insisted she usually isn't this bad at communicating and that she's typically just really busy (too busy to text back? Right.). Thought I'd give her the benefit of the doubt and try again. I emailed, txted, and messaged on Instagram this time (since I noticed she was posting some recent photos - for a while I thought maybe she stopped coloring hair so I checked insta for recent posts. Yep still doing hair. On who I don't know). Still no response and it's been a couple weeks. I guess I'm not part of this elite crew who gets their hair done by the self proclaimed Guy Tang of Houston. Eye roll. I was able to get an appointment at M Salon with the awesome Chris Do instead. As a former hairstylist that's worked with some of the best industry all over the country, I have to say Patrice has the best cutting techniques I've ever seen! He really took the time to listen to my concerns and miraculously was able to put shape and life back into my hair. Also, BEST shampoo & head massage ever. I'm so happy I finally found a good stylist in Houston. He's new to Houston and has a cool French accent. I booked for a cut with a senior stylist and when I arrived I did a consultation and agreed on the stylist cutting 2 inches due to dead/split ends. I showed her the inspo for the type of layers I was looking for to give me a big bouncy blowout the next day before my marriage ceremony. I noted how I hadn't had a cut in a while because I wasn't satisfied with the previous cut elsewhere , she said she understood and would give me medium layers with no curtain bang because my face framing pieces are "too thin". I assumed I'd get a great cut and once she finished, I couldn't quite tell the length. But when I got into my car and moved all my hair to the front, I realized she definitely made a mistake. I'd say about 6 inches were taken off. AT LEAST. I cried for 10 minutes about it and even my best friend was visibly shocked at the amount of hair she took off. I will be calling for a refund and will not be returning. I don't even feel like myself and especially on my big day ??!! Very upsetting.

I went in thinking the stylist would be able to do a hair tone service but she gave me a haircut instead. I didn't go in for a haircut originally but she kept insisting that she wanted to just trim the ends. I finally gave in thinking the sooner she cut my hair the sooner she would tone my hair but she proceeded to style it instead. The next thing I know I saw a bunch long strains of hair on the group and as she was trimming and cutting I saw how short my hair was. I was terrified. I told her that my hair was way too short. At some point I told her to stop fixing it. She still try to fix it by trimming and cutting some more. She wanted to style my hair and said I would look younger with this hairstyle. I never ask her to look younger or style my hair. I just want a simple cut 5-6inches off. She didn't do that and I believed she chopped off almost 15 inches from my hair. I was upset. When I went up front to pay, the guy at the front desk probably the owner heard my concerning voice about my hair and asked "is everything okay". I said no it's not. My hair is too short. He responded "well I hope it grow fast" I could have just walk out and not pay but I didn't. I paid and still tip 10% because I just can't see myself not paying. I'm still upset at how much I lost my hair and the unprofessionalism this place is. I understand that an Asian salon doesn't always give good experience and I would rather them be rude to me than chop off my hair that I can't get back. I contemplated about writing this review thinking that it wouldn't bring back my hair but I decided that someone need to see this and be careful next time you're getting your hair cut here. I started getting blond balayage highlights from Mikah back in the summer of 2012 when I was a junior in college in Colorado. My highlights were super subtle at the time and looked gorgeous; I was instantly hooked. I then continued to get my highlights and haircut done by Mikah every couple of months or so when I would come home for the holidays. Then, after about a year of holding off to do my hair ONLY when I would fly back to Houston from Colorado, I caved in and got my highlights done somewhere else in Colorado. What a mistake. I thought to myself, after I graduate I'm not going to be able to afford to get great highlights so I need to learn how to go a cheaper route. Wow, I was so wrong. The person went WAY too light and gave me almost white hair and when my roots grew out it looked awful. That Christmas break (2013) I went back to Mikah and she welcomed me with open arms and fixed me with one appointment. (As you can see in the BEFORE/AFTER picture where my hair is WAY too blonde and then looks perfect b/c Mikah saved me). I then moved to DC and after tried to get my blonde balayage highlights done with someone who cost $350... again... the results were disastrous and the cut was awful. Again I came back to Mikah and she fixed me up- she even offered to call other salons in my area in DC to make sure that they knew what they were doing and would not mess up my hair...but I'd learned my lesson. I either get my highlights done by Mikah or I wait until I can. You can trust Mikah with your highlights.
