Dr. Block is such a nice man, as is the front desk and the rest of the staff, who are so nice and friendly. The place is very clean as well. Chase is the person who gave me my hearing test; he has a great personality. Did I wait in the room where they put you by yourself to wait for Dr. Block? Yes, I did wait for a bit, but it's easy to deal with that if you have your phone with you. I just turned off the volume and played games on my phone while waiting. Was it worth it? Dr Block is one of the best doctors I have seen for ear issues. That being said, his office staff are either incompetent or lazy. It's almost impossible to get an appointment with Dr Block without waiting weeks yet the staff refuse to keep cancellation list. COME INTO THE 21st CENTURY LADIES. I have had multiple discussions with them and they say they have never done it therefore they never will. It would be such a basic thing to help patients - but they clearly aren't concerned with helping patients. I have mentioned it to Dr Block who stated just call them and ask them to add you to the schedule but they always refuse. He seems almost afraid or intimidated by his own staff. So if you manage to get an appointment you will have good care by the doctor (you might wait a really long time like some other patients have mentioned here). read more

This office has no consideration for people's time. If you value your time find a different doctor. I waited an hour and 15 mins until I walked out and there was still another patient ahead of me to be seen so who knows how much longer I would of had to wait. They schedule their appointments every 15 minutes but have patients waiting over an hour. If they can't accommodate patients within a reasonable time they should not schedule patients every 15 mins its rude and disrespectful and inconsiderate of people's time. read more

Dr. Block is an incredible doctor. My brother was in acute pain and needed immediate, expert attention which Dr. Block provided. He is exactly the kind of doctor you need in a crisis. He is highly educated from great schools, served in the military and he has decades of experience in practice. His bedside manner was also perfect: professional, polite, fast and clear. I grew up in this area and moved to New York City 25 years ago. And while I miss the natural beauty on the central coast, one of the benefits of a big city is access to world class medical talent and care. I'm actually really sad to have to post this review because I've had such amazing experiences with Dr. Awerbuck and Dr. Vetter (both fantastic doctors) but after a month of waiting for help, my partner was totally thrown to the side and misled by Dr. Block. He was basically told that the Dr. could do nothing for him, was told that he had a condition that was subsequently denied by another provider, and Dr. Block told him they couldn't help him at all and offered no treatment nor recourse aside from expensive surgery to both his jaw and face that would leave him with a broken jaw from everything we read. We were both extremely disappointed by this experience and it is unlike what I've personally previously experienced when in both Dr. Awerbuck and Dr. Vetter's care in Monterey. read more

I will give this doctor credit as his work is great when he actually stumbles into your room. What isn't great is always showing up for a "scheduled appointment" to only be seen anywhere from 30 mins to an hour late. It doesn't matter if you go to the Salinas or Monterey locations, I wish they would stick to their schedule and stop wasting a patients time. They sure collect your copay like clockwork at the desk once you walk in so why can't they actually have the doctors see their patients on time?? read more

Dr Block is awesome. I had been having blinding aweful headaches and he figured out I had a bone spur digging into a nerve causing the pain. I had been struggling with increasing pain for years and was told it is migraines just deal with it. It is 2 months after surgery and I am doing great. No more terrible headaches. He also removed a growth on my dad's ear and reconstructed it. You can't hardly tell which ear. He is an excellent surgeon. His front staff are wonderful. I needed medication before surgery to keep the pain levels down and they were so kind and made sure to have Dr. Block give me something to help. Their office gave me my life back. read more

After fighting a tough sinus infection and many drs visits my son was referred to Dr Block. All other ENT Drs in our area were scheduling months away and Dr Block's staff got us in the office in days. In the first visit he found a mass in my sons sinuses. Where time is a factor his staff got us a scan and another drs visit to get the results in a matter of a week! During these visits Dr Block took the time to really listen and explain things and answer many questions. I saw on another review they complained about the time it took to be seen. But if a little extra time means they can fit in patients like my son who were suffering and couldn't wait months, is it really so bad? If you go to Dr Block know that he sees you, and hears you, and isn't gonna rush you through your appointment. Even though we are moving on to Stanford in our next steps we were told if we need anything or have questions not to hesitate to call them. This is the kind of dr and staff you want. I will never use this Medical Office again, I went in for a medical problem & a simple new patient office visit exam. And expecting the normal processes, & costs; but when I got the Bill there were numerous things added on that I was made aware during my visit, thus the Bill was subsatnciall higher than expected. which violate California's Medical Surprise Billing Laws and is Fraudulent as afar as I'm concerned. I will never know how good Dr. Block is because he kept me waiting one hour for my appointment. I had to get back to work to keep my commitments back at my office and was surprised I was not even seen in that time frame. My family has been going to this medical practice for 30 years and never has this happened. I do not know if I have a ruptured eardrum or not and was hoping Dr. Block would help me, but my time is valuable also. And to think I am loosing money (taking time off work) and paying the doctor for this treatment. It is interesting that doctors office now have you sign that you will pay if you are late a fee or you pay if you do not give them 24 hours notice that you will be cancelling. Well what will the doctor pay me for being late like today? What is my time worth? Why is it not a two way street? I was looking forward to the help and asking Dr. Block about my Migraine Headaches. But how long was I going to be waiting to see Dr. Block? I was not told when I checked in he was running behind. I was not asked would the extra time work for my schedule. I was not given any updates like, it will be 20 more minutes or whatever. I waited one hour after my appointment time bottom-line. What did Dr. Block really expect? Maybe I am wrong. To me that does not feel like respect or empathy toward your patient. I waited one hour, I wanted the help and to see him, but at some point you say enough is enough. I wonder how long Dr. Block would sit and wait to see a doctor. When I checked it at the front desk and said "I needed to get back to work it had been an hour of waiting". The front desk clerk said "I will let the doctor know". Boy did that feel like no one cared. I did feel like it freed up space and time for the patients that were behind me. My good deed for the day. I've been seeing Dr. Block for years. I've always liked him. Today, I have a new fondness for him. I was sitting in a exam room, with the door open. I heard Dr. Block talking to a young girl having a procedure done. He was so engaging, asking her favorite food, how she liked it cooked, how she like to eat it, what she likes with her French fries(mayo or ketchup) Just charming. I was so impressed. He's very professional, knows what he's doing, and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. His staff is friendly as well. I went to see Dr. Block for Aroma sensitivity, he would just come and go, not even giving me a chance to fully explain my situation, just said that I was not the only person with this type of problem, and that it was now part of me. Mom had an appointment with Doctors Block for the first time even thou she's had hearing loss for years. Only giving the doctors office a 4 star because I felt the front staff could have been a little friendlier. Anyhow Dr Block was very general, knowledgeable and overall great. Dr. Block is a wonderful doctor. I owe him my life twice. I had thryroid cancer. I was devastated in 1998 when I got the news as my daughter was only 3 years old. He was so reassuring that he could help me. He did. Then in 2006 when I had a recurrence he again assured me that he could take care of it. And he did. To this day I am in remission and I continue to follow up with him. My neck scar is not noticeable to others. He did an amazing job with that, not that I would have cared, I was just happy to be alive and be able to raise my daughter. I trusted him completely because in 1995 when Memorial Hospital had given my sister 6 months to live, Dr. Block went in to give emergency surgery. I saw my sisters health thrive as never before. She had always been a sickly child. To this day she is enjoying quality of life as never before. In 1999 I took my daughter to see him because from birth in 1995 she had breathing problems and was on an apnea monitor the first whole year of her life. She was seeing specialists from San Francisco and taking medication. Finally in my frustration I took her to Dr. Block hoping he could find something they couldn't. Yes! Her tonsils and adenoids were so big they would collapse on her when she was sleeping. He did surgery on my 3 and a half year old daughter and she has never had a problem with her breathing since then! I truly thank God for Dr. Block. He has impacted so many lives in my family. Have been a very satisfied patient of Dr Block for over 10 years. Suffered with a deviated septum for many years. Dr Block diagnosed the problem, took great care to explain what would be necessary to correct and, the detailed pros and cons of surgery. He was very professional and efficient. He did the surgery and organized follow up treatment and care. Extremely satisfied. Then, after several physicians diagnosed a swollen gland as "only an infection, I went to Dr Block and he immediately diagnosed it as a cancer. He literally saved my life with his professional assessment. After essential radiation and chemo by other professionals he has been instrumental in continued follow ups. Very slow over booked office minimum wait time in office is 1 hour +, Dr Block like all Docs are nice, bad front office.

I made an appointment to be seen for an infection in my nose with my GP. Since an infection in this area can turn very bad quickly she advised I go to an ENT. The only spot that was available was at 2:45pm which meant I would have both my kids with me 4 and 9 years old. I live in Salinas but could only be seen at Ryan Ranch. An hour and a half later after asking how much longer? About every 20 mins and being told soon. The whole office of people waiting were told Dr Block had an emergency and needed to be re schedule. Seriously I understand emergencies but why was he an hour and a half behind in the first place! The only saving grace is they are squeezing me in the following day but who knows how long I will wait then. read more
