Theres nothing like some good home cooked southern food! Continuing with the ambiance the atmosphere was something I didn't know I needed as well. It felt almost like home, so clean with a refreshing and smooth vibe. Not to mention the art that decorated the walls, and the track list, whoo we ended our lunch to some Stevie Wonder! And the service! Oh goodness I wish I could remember my servers name for the life of me, but she was a brown skinned women with golden locs and glasses and she was just amazing! She actually pointed me in the direction of the lamb chops and she made great conversation without hovering over the table at the same time! Ugh it's nothing like soul food or black owned, I plan on returning next Sunday and plan to frequent that location much more after that! Thank you Soul 2 Go!

The blackened salmon pasta (reminds me of Cajun pasta) and the honey soul with fried chicken and fried corn cornbread with honey...It was so delicious. The order was ready pretty quickly when I got there. You can also order from a kiosk when you walk in the door, but I did an online order from the local food app before going over there. It looks like a nice casual environment with bar seating available. Kind of small - It was very busy.

I looked at the steam table, and not sure what to get because I tire of spending my money and being disappointed. I ordered something that I thought would be a safe-bet...I ordered 4 fried wings, Mac and cheese, and candied yams. I started tasting my food when I got in the car. The wings were perfectly cooked -- juicy and tender. The Mac and cheese had a decent amount of cheese, not like some places that cover their Mac and cheese with some type of Velveeta sauce. I would have eaten all of my wings in the car, but I needed some hot sauce, which surprisingly the restaurant did not have. I finished my meal when I got home. The yams were delicious...not overly sweet. I will say that the wings and Mac and cheese could have used a little more seasoning, but that was okay...there are many times where I went to a soul food restaurant and had to toss food because it was way too salty. I would rather my food to be under seasoned than over seasoned. You can always add, but you can't take it away. I will definitely return, and try something else on the menu, and hopefully not be disappointed.

Turn in at the light, and be careful about which driveway you pick- I think it's the second driveway, near a daycare, and it winds around back to the restaurant. You can see the place from James. Pretty busy at lunchtime, a few dine in and some carryout. Served cafeteria style, so you can see what you want, and drool over it. Well, there's a clear shield, but you know what I mean. I got smothered pork chops, since I hadn't had them forever. Meaty, tender, covered in gravy and onions. So so good, especially as comfort food on a cold day. You can also get them fried. Plenty of other things on the menu looked good. And all of the sides sounded good. I ended up getting one that was a mix of cabbage and greens, instead of getting the two separately, so that gave me space for another side. I went with mac & cheese. Sweetie's mom's mac is the best in the world. I'm not kidding. This is not quite that good, but is a very good homemade version, loaded with cheese, and baked in a big pan. Service was excellent. Prices are a bit steep, but good for the quantity and quality. Canned pop. Cheap plasticware. I was leery, but the pork chops were so tender that even a plastic knife pulled them apart easily. Hardly needed it. The place is not fancy inside. Old, but clean, a few booths and tables. You're there for the food, not the decor. Or, come in and pick it up and take it home. And have better silverware... I will definitely be back. I loved what I got, and was enticed by some of the other things.

It's tucked into Budd dairy food, hall, so tons of drinks and seat seating options throughout the restaurant. If they're crowded, it can be a little bit of a wait, but I've never waited more than 30 minutes, and it's well worth it. For food, you have to get the blackened catfish. It is so yummy. Their mac & cheese is delicious, their cornbread is cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth, and the french fries were good. Really you can't go wrong with any of these sides; it's a lot of southern staples. If I could, I'd order one of everything in terms of sides. Definitely will be back!

Just the right spice to not distract from the flavor of the chicken. Now just an FYI The chicken is not really spicy. Not a bad thing since the Rice , Greens and Hush Puppies supply the spices. Interesting take on the dinner. They also have Catfish . Can't wait to try both the regular and the Blackened Version. Haven't had really good Catfish since we lived in East Texas and stopped on a Fish Camp restaurant on a Bayou in Louisiana before Shreveport. I highly recommend for really good Southern Style Fried Chicken! The two women at the Counter were pleasant and professional . Wii be returning. Thanks for the Great Food!

To be sure, Zion Cafeteria delivers on what it claims to be: a church cafeteria with daily specials. The baptist church of the same name down the street wanted to open a restaurant to make a difference on East Main Street, which is admirable. The food was just OK, aside from the meatloaf which was solid, but of a smallish portion (if it came with more slices rather than one I would've bumped it up a star). Greens didn't have any zing and the corn bread was alright, while the pecan pie is unfortunately not made by someone's grandma, but rather out of a box. Perhaps if they can get some of them in the kitchen it would make a visit more compelling. In the end it's another much needed restaurant option on a street that needs some and you can feel warm and fuzzy for supporting a local business that is trying to improve the area.
