You can place an order ahead of time which I would recommend because while not appearing super busy it would be about 30 min for food to be done. They seems to have a busy to-go busYou can choose how spicy you want your dishes and they range in American / Desi on how hot you want your selection to be. I got the: Bawarchi Gombi 65 - I got medium but could have gone spicer. Delicious Chicken Lollipop - so much better than I thought. Amazing crunch and good level of spice Parotta- flaky and crisp. Like a smashed croissant Cheese Kulcha- very good. Mild and great to go with something spicy to calm it down. My partner and I are on a road trip and had our fill of fast food, so it was a welcome change to enjoy some real food. I'm a big fan of Indian cuisine, especially street food. The restaurant is tucked at the end of a strip mall that also houses an Indian grocery store. As we walked in, we were greeted by lively music and two women managing the front as cashier and hostess. They were busy taking phone orders. We waited at least 10 minutes before placing an order. We got a goat biryani to go and received it within 15 minutes, despite it being quite busy around 7:30 pm on a Thursday night. The main dining room was very dark with loud TV music. I definitely do not want to dine in there as it was just too loud. I can't imagine having a conversation in that environment. The goat was flavorful, though mostly bone, about 85% to 90% bone with very little meat, which is disappointing for the $19 price. I asked for American mild, but it was still pretty spicy. I can usually handle wasabi and Thai peppers, but Indian spices really hit differently. Thankfully, the raita helped cool things down a bit, our lips were definitely tingling after the meal! First impressions-- extremely trendy! The staff was very friendly and helpful. My wife and I were asked if it was our first time there and it was. Although I traveled from NE Texas for a wedding, I might end up telling people it was for Bloom Bawarchi instead! I opted for a goat curry (I wish I could remember the name!!) And my wife got the lamb chops. We had garlic Naan to share and of course that disappeared almost immediately after it got to the table. I wish my stomach was just a little bigger but I had a decent-sized snack to take home after it all. With drinks the bill came out to about what I had expected; coming from Texas I'm used to things being a little on the cheaper side but I wasn't disappointed with the price point-- especially considering how delicious everything tasted. If I'm ever in the area again I will *definitely* be coming back. read more

my only complaint, and it's a big one, is the strobing party lights. as a person that can get a migraine, triggered by flashing lights, this place is painful. it is even like this at noon on a Wednesday. They always want a rave atmosphere in this joint!! How about starting "relaxing Wednesdays" where the strobing party lights are turned off? I go here for the food only, and carefully pick my seat and do linger when i'm done. i often feel compelled to get it to go... unfortunately. read more

I ordered a Butter Goat Curry to go. The packing was very safe to avoid leaking. It was so delicious! I haven't had Indian food for a while, and this really impressed me. There is no shortage of restaurants in Bloomington that sell Indian food. We haven't been to all of them yet, but this is by far my favorite. We have been twice and both times have been very good. The breads are fresh. I had the butter chicken. Daughter had the Paneer Marsala. I will say I was slightly underwhelmed with the amount of chicken in the dish, but the quality and flavor was excellent. If I had to choose, I would rather have quality than quantity and quality in general. This is one of those places that's worth going to, and then worth going back to. read more

This is the best Indian restaurant in IL. They have the most delicious food! I have tried at least half of their large menu of options and have not been disappointed even once. My absolute favorite dishes that are a MUST TRY are Chef Sumit Rawat's Tandoori items including Afgani Kebabs, Aachari Tangri Kebabs, Paneer Tikka Dry Kebabs, Tandoori Lamb Chops, Tandoori Shrimp, and Tandoori Salmon. That is only a portion of the Tandoori menu, all of the Tandoori items are mouth watering dishes with incredible flavor and succulence. Some of my other favorite dishes from the restaurant are the Kara Kolambu Eggplant, Methi Chicken, and Butter Chicken Masala. They also have a large bar with great specialty drinks. They have something for everyone for sure! Their naans are delicious especially the garlic and gongura naan. The appetizers are all tasty and my favorites are all of the Gobi appetizers, Chilli Parotta, any of the chicken/shrimp 65s, any of the Manchurians, and the Ginger Chicken. Must try desserts are the rasmalai, and the rabdi ka jamun. The atmosphere, ambiance, food and drinks make it one of the top places to meet with friends and loved ones, whether it's just two of you or a larger party of people (they also do VIP groups if you want to celebrate a special occasion there)! Sometimes they even have club nights where they play music of a theme for a night such as (R&B/Rap/Pop, South Indian & Bollywood, Latina Nights). They have special lighting and sound systems for these events. Keep an eye out for these invents for a great time (they usually advertise them on social media)! All in all, you must try the full experience that is Bloom Bawarchi! You will be addicted and make it a weekly staple for sure. read more

Very disappointed with Bloom Bavarchi. The service has become extremely poor, with rude and arrogant staff who show no concern for customers. The plates are unclean, hygiene is lacking, and the food quality has dropped badly--especially the vegetarian dishes. The staff even try to misguide customers into giving extra tips. Authentic and menu driven Indian restaurant with a neon and blacked out ceiling bar centric atmosphere main dining room, very cool corner table, and friendly staff. Us four got to try a good amount being overwhelmed with the two hundred and seventeen options! The chicken, goat, and raw onion rings as funny halos for the dishes took us by surprise, no other cuisine has such an earthy aroma and rich blend of spices. We loved the heat options on the tablet menu for ordering. I did dasi for mine which was perfectly hot, warm, giving my face that glow. It was awkward trying to eat with the metal plates not letting the food cool off from the kitchen. Everything kept its boiling temperature well past normal but that forced us to take our time too. The Tikka Marsala was fantastic. Same for butter and my dish I cannot remember the names, chicken nugget appetizer, bone-in chicken wings, and alas we couldn't find room for desserts or unique selection of India beers. Amazing service. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We started with samosas and gobi Manchurian. The cauliflower was so crispy and the sauce sticky and delicious, everyone was delighted. Better than a sesame chicken or general Tso's at a Chinese restaurant. The samosas were fried to perfection; not the best I've had (I'm a big fan of whole cumin seeds in them!) but certainly tasty with the mint and tamarind chutneys. I got the vegetable thali and was delighted by the spread: two soups, a vegetable dish, a cooked carrot dish, papadum, naan, buttermilk, three kinds of rice, and a dessert. Everything was flavorful and the staff came over twice to explain all the dishes. Would absolutely return for it, and the spread changes daily so it would never be the same! My family got the saag paneer, the butter goat, and kadai chicken. Every dish was unique and flavorful. Two wished they'd gone for a little less spicy but still ate every bit. Their garlic naan was also phenomenal, with little crispy bits and nice garlic flavor. Will absolutely recommend eating here and will certainly return when in town! My only criticism was we were sat close to the bar which had a lot of flashing lights; this was a little irritating to the eyes of some of the guests. Definitely a recommended spot to try! I heard good things about this place and went for lunch. But I was a bit disappointed. I got the lunch Thali - None of the items stood out. Every item was at best was barely ok. The chicken seems to have a lot of red color (which again did not have any flavor), same goes with Sambar and other items. The only thing that was good were the Pungulu. Holy crap this place is GOOOOOOD. The reviews do not lie. Immaculate service and the food is just amazing. Server recommended the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan for me and it was the best I've ever had. Chicken was so tender and the spice level was perfect (I got a medium). Mango lassi was bomb af too. My bf got the chicken vindaloo curry and onion naan and he loved it. We ate around 8pm on a Thursday. We really enjoyed the Bollywood pop music videos and fun lighting. Food needs astronomical improvement. Environment is strange for a restaurant. Feels more like a bar and there is nothing wrong with that but the way the space is configured currently, it's hard to have a good dining experience. Basic dishes are not done right, not even close. Stick with southern dishes if that's your expertise or get proper experts for northern cuisine. read more

We were hoping for a nice peaceful lunch. This was our first time here. We were seated in the bar area with several TVs playing Bollywood videos very loudly, making it hard to speak to each other. The waiter brought a menu, but also an iPad. We had to order our meal on the iPad and give a name and phone number even though we were dining in. The food took a while to prepare. We were brought water and plates, then ignored for about 30 minutes. The food came out and were almost done before anyone came to see if everything was ok. The food was very good. The chicken tikka masala had a nice, but not overwhelming heat. It was also sweeter than other places. My husband's vindaloo was also good. He did accidentally forget to order the one without bones, and was given only a fork (no knife) which made removing bones difficult. Great Indian food, but inconsistent for takeout. The first time we ordered the butter chicken, it was delicious and we loved it; the cashews really added an interesting depth. The second time, it didn't taste as good. The spice levels are also inconsistent; we always specify Desi Medium but they vary wildly, from not spicy at all to super spicy. Super spicy isn't a bad thing, but it would be nice to have some consistency. Also, the cauliflower masala was too salty the second time around. Different chefs, maybe? Also, one order of naan is not a ton--it's essentially one big naan cut into four pieces. We have to order more naan than we normally would from other places. Best Indian food I've ever had! I would recommend this place to anyone who loves or going to love Indian food. We felt like the curry and Tandoori chicken are very special, made from scratch and served fresh. The butter goat curry is absolutely amazing! All the spices make the curry full of flavor. This curry has bone-in goat meat! Tandoori chicken is surprisingly juicy inside and the charcoal flavor tastes so good! It is a little bit different from the style I had elsewhere, which is more red and dry. Unlike the Tandoor chicken from some restaurants that tastes like frozen food, the chicken tastes fresh. The best Indian food I have ever had! Their flavors are much more complex compared to other places I've tried. They also offer more dishes than other Indian restaurants I've been to. Recently I tried their paneer 65, cauliflower 65, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, mixed veggie kurma north style, guthi vankaya (stuffed eggplant) and garlic naan. Everything tasted absolutely fantastic and even there basmati rice was more aromatic and flavorful than other places. I'd definitely come back and order any of the dishes I tried. However, if you are a wimp like me and can't handle spicy foods, I want to warn you that even their American mild for some of their dishes is still quite spicy. I had no issue with their chicken tikka masala and veggie kurma dish. I found those two dishes to be the least spicy. Definitely check them out and don't forget to order rice with your meal. They charge extra if you want basmati rice and to be honest rice is something you must order to enjoy your meal to the fullest. read more
